Health is a state of physical, mental and social well-being. A disease is
a condition that affects health.
INFECTIOUS DISEASES
There are diseases caused by viruses, bacteria, fungi and parasites
that enter the body through the nose, mouth or a wound. Ex. flu,
rubella, chicken pox..
Vaccines are used to prevent the most serious infectious diseases.
NON-INFECTIOUS DISEASES
These are diseases that are not caused by microorganisms. Ex: cancer,
genetic disorders, nutritional deficiencies.
RECOMMENDATIONS FOR A HEALTHY LIFESTYLE
● A BALANCED DIET
A diet that includes all food in the correct proportions and in
sufficient quantities to fulfil the body's needs.
● MEDICAL CHECK-UPS
It is important to have all compulsory vaccinations, go to the
dentist and see your doctor when you have the symptoms of a
disease.
● AVOID TOXIC SUBSTANCES
For good health, it is very important to avoid smoking, drinking
alcohol and taking drugs and to avoid polluted areas.
● SOCIAL RELATIONSHIPS
These are fundamental for good health. Social isolation can harm
a person's physical and mental health.

This helps burn calories, strengthen muscles and bones and
reduce blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar.
● GOOD PERSONAL HYGIENE
This helps prevent many health problems, including infections and
dental and skin problems
