 Reproductive health is a state of complete
physical, mental and social well-being, and not
merely the absence of reproductive disease or
infirmity, in all matters relating to the
reproductive system and to its function and
process.
 Reproductive health deals with the reproductive
processes, functions and system at all stages of
life.

 It is recognized that Reproductive health is a
crucial part of overall health and is central to
human development which affects every
body.
 Reproductive health implies that:
 People are able to have a satisfying and safe
sex life ;
 They have the capability to reproduce;
 The freedom to decide if, when and how often
to do so

4. SCOPE OF REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH
The reproductive health within the context of
primary health care includes following essential
components:
Family planning counseling,
information, education, communication
and services (emphasizing the
prevention of unwanted pregnancy).
Safe motherhood, education and service for
healthy pregnancy, safe delivery and postnatal
care including breast feeding.

7. Concept of RH
It implies that:
 Couples have the ability to reproduce and
regulate their fertility
 Women are able to go through pregnancy and
child birth safely
 Outcome of the pregnancy is successful in terms
of maternal and infant survival and well-being
 Couples are able to have sexual relations free of
the fear of pregnancy and of contracting any
disease.
