• Perform power line construction, maintenance and repair of overhead electrical
transmission, distribution and service lines, transformers, meters, electric substation and
related equipment.
• Conduct line maintenance in a safe efficient manner utilizing de-energized, live line stick
or live line bare hand techniques on voltages up to and including 69KV.
• Construct new overhead lines, setting poles, installing cross-arms and brackets, stringing
wire, and placing equipment such as transformers, switches, cut-outs, lightning arresters
and insulators.
• Under the direction of a dispatcher, performs switching operations on the transmission
and equipment such as load break switches (LBS), fuses and live line clamps.
• Climb wood poles and steel towers, either by truck lift or manually with the use of ladder,
spikes, safety belt/harness and other safety gears
• Work in a high voltages environment at heights up to 90 feet.
• Replace defective pole along side condemned pole utilizing a hydraulic boom truck.
• Work on energized conductor and equipment from 13.8KV to 69KV using rubber
protective equipment and wire cover/wire guard.
• Perform overhead residential type distribution work including single-phase meters as
three-phase distribution transformers for commercial type.
• Conduct load and voltage tests on lines and equipment to ensure that they are de-
energized so ground may be installed and work may begin in cold system.
• Inspect overhead lines and circuits to identify faulty or worn parts, maintain, restore and
overhaul them if necessary.
• String, rig, splice and repair electrical lines and cable wires and related switches under
energized conditions.
• String cable from pole to pole using rollers and hand line materials o from pole to
building with the assistance of Ground men.
• Attach wire from electrical equipment to power line using pliers and other hand tools,
and wrap insulation tape around connection to protect wire from climatic condition and
corroding.
• Drive a line truck in hauling personnel, materials and equipment to and from work site.
• Operate boom truck, bucket truck (elevated work platform) and digger equipment.
• Trim trees that grow into electric right of way so as to prevent accidental grounding
wires.
• Provide assistance to TRANSCO personnel in working on 230KV transmission and
maintenance tower poles and insulators.
• Troubleshoot power quality complaints and outages, and respond to emergency service
calls at all times.
• Work occasionally on shifts, including nights and weekend coverage and subject to after
hours standby and call-out duty.
4. • Deal regularly with various department/personnel within the company, specifically, the
department clerk, Engineering, and Purchasing/supply office.
• Coordinate with telephone and cable companies when isolating cable and electrical
wiring is required.
• Maintain good public relations with customers when responding to their electrical needs.
• Conform to company safety rules, regulations and procedures, and report unsafe
conditions and practices.
