Food Packaging Module :through our activities with Albairaq we learned that Food packaging have many different purposes and the packaging materials have so many properties.
our Idea is : Fish Keeper
We use an polymer in the bottom to absorb water and layers from plastic and foam to keep the cooling inside the box and the body of the box made of foam to be less weight and easy to carry and keep the fishes cool for a long time, also we made a layer like a grid of foam to keep any liquids leaking from fishes away and then it absorbed by the polymer in the bottom of the box to keep the fishes healthy and fresh for longer time.
2. Outline
• Introduction
• Activity 1: investigating food packaging
• Activity 2: analyzing food packaging
materials
• Activity 3: evaluating the impact of food
packaging on the Environment
• Activity 4:Researching food packaging
materials
• Activity 5: Designing a protective package
• Activity 6: comparing the insulating
properties of packaging materials
3. INTRODUCTION
• Food Packaging
• Is science, and technology of enclosing
or protecting food products for
distribution , storage , sale , and use
• Packaging also refers to the process of
design and production of packages
4. Activity 1: investigating
food packaging
• The bag is typically partially folded when it is
placed in a microwave , and inflates as a result of
steam pressure from the heated kernels.
5. Activity 1:
investigating
food packaging
• The design of a microwave popcorn bag is specifically keyed
to avoid popped kernel scorching A subsector, usually a
metalized film
• Laminated onto the paper of the bag, absorbs microwaves
and concentrates great at the film interface, thus ensuring a
heat distribution focused on the hard-to-heat flavor coating
so that the unpopped kernels are evenly coated prior to
popping ,thereby ensuring even flavor throughout the
product.”
6. Activity 2: analyzing food packaging materials
• We analyzed some types of food packages to see
which materials it is made of and the purpose of
each material.
8. Activity 3: evaluating the impact of food
packaging on the Environment
We compare the product
weight to the package
weight to recognize witch
package have less impact
on the Environment.
9. Activity 3: evaluating the impact of food packaging on the
Environment

15. Fish Keeper
Project Story
• We didn’t work before on researches and invention
but now and thanks to Al-Bairaq we gained a skills
and discovered skills That we had but we didn’t
know about it.
• Qatar is a costal state, many
people like to go for fishing
trip, and they are always worry
about how to keep fishes in good
condition, so we got this idea to keep
the fishes fresh and healthy.
16. Fish Keeper
• In Al-Bairq workshops we know how much
damage caused by humans to us and our
environment and the danger that surrounds us
from all directions so we were thinking what we
can do about it we started to write down the
conclusions from all the Experiments we did and
What are the ecofriendly materials we should Use
• That’s why we decided to make a beautiful
product that has a new ideas and an
attractive shape to seduce people as
its cheap and ecofriendly
17. Results:
• We use an polymer in the bottom to absorb water
and layers from plastic and foam to keep the
cooling inside the box and the body of the box
made of foam to be less weight and easy to carry
and keep the fishes cool for a long time, also we
made a layer like a grid of foam to keep any
liquids leaking from fishes away and then it
absorbed by the polymer in the bottom of the box
to keep the fishes healthy and fresh for longer
time.
18. Recommendations
• It is easy to produce our idea to be
commercial and benefits to all people
who love fishing , so we recommend
that any factory produce it to the
consumers.
19. *CONCLUSIONS*
• We have learnt how to prepare a
research that fits the society . Also we
know how to take every single point
that serves our research into
consideration.
• We learned how to achieve our
purpose through a successful team
work and keep trying Our best to
create a creative project with perfect
specifications to attract everyone’s
20. Acknowledgment
Thanks to all people, teachers, friends,
and our school that supported us during
our journey in Al-bairaq project.
Also thanks to Al-Bairaq team and the
sponsors who gave us the opportunity to
participate in Al-Bairaq project, create and
innovate.
