January
2011.
Morgan
succeeds
King
who
has
worked
under
the
corporation
since
1985
and
gathered
a
world
record
for
the
longest
running
show
with
one
host
in
that
time.
"I...
I,
I
don't
know
what
to
say
except
to
you,
my
audience,
thank
you.
And
instead
of
goodbye,
how
about
so
long."
King
is
retiring
after
25
years
in
December
because
of
wanting
to
spend
more
time
with
his
family.
He
suggested
it
would
be
best
to
leave
on
his
own
terms.
Morgan,
his
successor,
who
made
his
name
by
posing
tough
questions
to
so-‐called
‘celebrities’
will
have
big
boots
to
fill.
“I
dreamed
of
one
day
filling
the
legendary
suspenders
of
the
man
I
consider
to
be
the
greatest
TV
interviewer
of
them
all…”
Piers
Morgan
who
is
extremely
well
known
in
Britain
for
his
time
as
Editor
of
‘The
Mirror’
and
‘News
Of
The
World’
newspapers
will
attempt
to
rebuild
some
of
his
reputation
and
credibility
in
the
states.
In
June,
Morgan
was
initially
tipped
by
New
York
Post
to
appear
on
the
Primetime
show
an
hour
before
Larry
King’s
show
on
the
same
Network.
It
was
from
the
UK
tabloids,
which
Morgan
became
so
popular,
that
the
first
whispers
came
of
him
actually
replacing
King
at
9.
Today
the
reports
were
confirmed
and
Morgan
released
a
statement.
“I
am
thrilled
to
be
joining
CNN,
and
very
much
looking
forward
to
bringing
my
own
style
of
interviewing
to
the
world’s
biggest,
and
best,
TV
news
organization’’
This
is
not
Morgan’s
first
time
on
American
television,
he
appeared
on
NBC’s
America’s
Got
Talent
as
a
Judge
for
six
seasons.
His
CV
also
has
experience
with
working
in
a
variety
of
documentaries
for
ITV
in
the
UK.
A
year
ago,
Piers
Morgan
started
filming
‘Life
Stories’
where
he
sat
with
a
host
of
public
figures
and
discussed
their
lives
to
date.
It
is
from
this
where
Piers
was
seen
as
the
perfect
candidate
to
replace
the
beloved
Larry
King.
