PROFILE______________________ ____________________________________
Dedicated Chemical Engineer withexcellent technical, analytical and communication skills. Most of career dividedevenlybetween twoareas.
First, being a Senior ChemicalProcessEngineer, optimizing the manufacture of 200 chemicals usedinthe Steel andMetalworking industries, andof
an additive usedinPVCpiping. Second, in being an Industrial Water Treatment Engineer responsible for the continuous chemical treatment of 10
coolingtowers, minimizing heat exchanger scaling, corrosion, andmicrobiologicalgrowth, andoptimizingthese 50+ systems for continuous
improvement. Also have experience in SPCandproject management.

Industrial Water Treatment Engineer/Account Representative
o Baker Petrolite (div. of Baker Hughes) – Sugar Land TX - December 2000 to July2015
For nearly15 years at BP’s Whiting IN refinery, hadthe primaryresponsibilityof maintaining the water chemistryfor 10 coolingtowers which
involvedthe continuous chemicaltreating of 5 milliongallons of cooling tower water to minimize heat exchanger scaling, system corrosion, and
microbiologicalgrowth. Optimizedthese 50+ systems for continuous improvement. Reportedto BPmanagement monthlyKeyPerformance
Indicators such as corrosion rates (to showwe were maximizing the service life ofequipment) andlegionella bacteriacounts (to showwe were
preventing the exposure to pathogenic bacteria). Coordinated withseveraltechnicians (lab, maintenance, chemical delivery) to make allthis
happenin a timelyfashion. Designed 18 chemicalinjectionsystems for 3 new coolingtowers as part of the refinerymodernizationproject.
Process/Project Engineer
o Project DesignServices– LombardIL (Under contract to Superior EngineeringCorp., HammondIN)– Sep. 1997 to Dec. 2000
For 14 months workedas a contract Chemical Process Engineer for AmocoChemicals(now Flint Hills Resources)inJoliet IL optimizingthe
productionandqualityof the semi-continuous manufacture of trimellitic anhydride (TMA). Forcedout when BPbought Amoco.
For 10 months workedas a contract Project Engineer for the Rhodia (now Innophos) chemical plant inChicagoHeights IL. Designeda complete
compressedair system whichincludedthree air compressors and a dryer. Project manager over the installationof the first of three compressors
and the low dewpoint dryer. Provedto Rhodia management that theyneeded to repair compressed air leaks quickly. Thiswas done througha lab
bench demonstration whichwas videotaped showing that (thoughcounter intuitive) compressed air leaks will introduce moisture into the
compressedair. Left when Phase 1 of project was completed. Phase 2 was to be completedwhendemandincreased.
The remainder of mytime was spent doingvarious engineering calculations for various customers including the BPWhitingrefinery.
Self-employed- Providedservicesto students to obtain financial aidfor college. - April 1995 to September 1997
Senior Chemical Process Engineer
o Nalco Chemical Company – Chicago IL - May1978 to April 1995
For 17 years introducednew products from the lab benchor pilot plant to the plant. Wrote andupdated all procedures for productionpersonnel
to followinthe safe manufacture ofabout 200 products used bythe steelandmetalworking industries. Continuouslyimprovedthe qualityof
these products byimplementing a StatisticalProcessControl program. Didall annual environmental reporting to EPA. Contributed to obtaining
ISO 9001 Certificationfor the plant. Project manager of a pneumatic conveying systemfor the dryprocessing(refractory) department to unload
rail cars. Designeda packagingsystemfor a newdryprocessing highspeedEirichmixer. Left when plant closed down.
