Career conference is a group activity.
According to Carter V Good’s Dictionary of Education,
Conference is a meeting of two or more persons of
common interest who come together primarily for
consultation, discussion and interchange of opinions
and ideas.
A Career Conference in guidance, is a group meeting
with the participation of representatives of occupations
from the community or neighbouring geographical
areas.
3. Objectives of Career Conference
1. To enable the students to get broader perspectives
on various carer opportunities.
2. To collect information about different careers of
their choice from different experts.
3. To have direct interaction with the experts over a
group of careers.
4. To have the knowledge of monetary aspect and
other benefits.
5. To provide opportunities for promotion.
4. Purpose of Career Conference
It’s main purpose is to provide occupational or career
information.
In a career conference, person from different
professions come and deliver talks about their own
fields to the group of students.
5. Organisation of Conference
For a successful career conference the following points
must be kept in mind:
The schedule of the proposed conference should be
prepared in advance.
An organising committee must be constituted that
may include- one teacher, students’ representative,
etc.
Career conference must be organised more than
once.
6. The Phases of the Conference must be the
responsibility of the committee. The phases of
the conference are:

2. Conducting
3. Monitoring
4. Evaluating
The conferences should focus on a
discipline or a group of disciplines.
7. The organising committee’s responsibilities
include-
1. Selection of conference theme.
2. Identification of participants for conference from
the different fields i.e. industries, departments etc.
3. Fixing of schedule i.e. time, venue, date, different
aspects of the theme.
4. Meeting with identified speakers and getting their
consent.
5. Monitoring the programme.
6. Evaluating the programme.
