2. Introduction
As a result of the significant rise of covid-19 and the consequential safety regulations implemented by the
government, I quickly realised that the current state of my script along side all of the technical paperwork was
currently not only past the point of overambition, but importantly completely unrealistic, as we were forced to
shift to online school for the period of many months. Subsequently, I needed to adapt to this sudden change by
creating an alternate version of the script, taking into consideration all the limitations which really forced me to
stretch the borders of my imagination. All of my technical paperwork needed to go through the very same change
as well. This primarily included a cutdown on cast members, decreasing from 4 to 2, less props necessary and
above all else, the entire opening sequence could be executed in just one location. Therefore, each of the
following slides is divided into two sections, one listing the original requirements and the other that according to
the alternate and simultaneously final version of the script.
With any change it is very important to refocus and identify your primary elements and try to elevate them to a
higher level. The one location allowed me to focus on establishing a singular effective tone and atmosphere,
accompanied by the themes which mostly remained the same. Lastly, I saw this as an opportunity to experiment
with new filmmaking techniques, attempting to stretch and go beyond to pre-established codes and conventions
of my selected genre blend. Hopefully achieving something new and original.
