2. By definition, a shot list is a list of all shots
which together compose the entire film.
Looking past that simple description, in my
eyes the shot list, along with much of the other
technical paperwork created over the course of
the pre-production stage and plays an essential
role during the actual filming. In this specific
case, it allows for an overlook of all the shots,
which provides a better understanding of the
potential psychological and emotional point
evoked in the audience by an intentional
juxtaposition of shots, along with the transition
between the two. It additionally helps to prevent
any potential continuity errors. Lastly, it serves
as a kind of checklist, providing the project with
a sense of direction and preparedness for
the film crew.
