2. JAMES RICHARDSON
James and his wife left their neighbor to babysit their
children. Bessie Reece, their neighbor, returned their 3 kids
to school. Teachers noticed very quickly the kids didn't look
normal, and brought them (along with a few other kids) to
the hospital. Eventually, 7 kids died, all from the same cause
of death: poison. James Richardson spent 22 years in jail,
even though Bessie confessed to the murders on several
occasions. Richardson was finally freed at the age of 53.

3. THOMAS KENNEDY
Cassandra Ann Kennedy accused her father of abusing her
on 3 separate occasions. She decided she wanted her dad to
go away since he was ‘drinking and smoking marijuana’, and
that’s exactly what happened. It took 11 years for her to
come forward and admit she was lying, and her father,
Thomas, was released. She has not been prosecuted for her
false claims.

4. KIRK BLOODSWORTH
Kirk was the first person ever to be sent to death row, then
exonerated. He was accused and sentenced for beating a
young girl. When he was originally convicted, there was
nothing tying him to the crime: he didn’t look like the
perpetrator and there was no physical evidence. After 9
years served, he was retried. DNA evidence was the reason
for his exoneration.

5. DARRYL HUNT
Hunt was wrongfully convicted for the rape/murder of a
woman named Deborah Sykes in North Carolina. In 1994,
Hunt’s legal team filed for DNA testing, which revealed the
sample from the victim’s body didn’t match Hunt’s DNA.
Appeals were denied for 10 years, until that same DNA
profile matched another convicted murderer who later
confessed to the crime.

Year’s Eve of 1980. He had several alibi witnesses to his
whereabouts, but was convicted of the murder. nonetheless
He wrote letter after letter, asking or help and requesting
appeals, and was finally proven innocent and freed in 2008.
Which was 28 years after he was originally convicted.
