2. Film 1
A man and his wife meet at the pearly gates after they are both killed in an
accident. However, to enter, each must confess any lies they told to each
other. ST. Peter hands the man a stack of books. Filled with lies he told, big
and small, to the woman, he gives one small piece of paper with just 4 words
written on it.
3. Options/pros and cons
Option 1: the scene taking place in a car with the man and his wife talking
and then suddenly crashing.
Pros: only 2 characters are needed, cons: it would be difficult to film as the
camera would have to be inside and outside of the car.
Option 2: the scene taking place in the hospital, with nurses and doctors
doing CPR and then the life support machine(flat line) shows that both of
them are dead.
Pros: only 4 characters are needed, cons: the setting would be hard to film in,
the equipment(the machine) would be too advanced to use
Option 3: the scene shows the man and his wife packing for a holiday, arguing
about what to pack and then rushing to the car and getting shot
Pros: only 3 characters are needed, cons: the setting is easy to film in
4. Film 2
The 1st female conductor in a country gets her 1st orchestra to work with. She
faces huge opposition from members of the orchestra, she’s close to give up,
then she finds her voice and talks about the piece in a way that moves them
and they decide to follow her.
5. Options/pros and cons
Option 1: her triumphantly conducting the finale of the music piece.
Pros: only 1 character needed, cons: need to find a stage in a music
venue(could be hard to find).
Option 2: 1 tense conversation between her and an individual member of the
orchestra, telling her why she’s not the right choice of a conductor.
Pros: can be shot anywhere, cons: requires a long text.
Option 3: she is coming into the music venue where the orchestra is located
in a state of utter panic as she is going to meet them for the 1st time and she
is not sure if she is up for the job.
Pros: just 1 character, no words needed, cons: hard to find a venue.
6. Film 3
A children’s film about a girl that lives on a planet with 9 seasons. The film is
about her life throughout those 9 seasons.
7. Options/pros and cons
Option 1: In the middle of the meteorite season when she lives underground.
Pros: any hole in the ground or a little cave would do as a setting, cons:
requires sound effects of explosions, some make up and props.
Option 2: her mother is taking her through all the seasons and instructing her
of the coming one.
Pros: only 2 people required, cons: requires slightly more unusual setting,
maybe some costumes and lots of text.
Option 3: she is looking at the visual calendar on the wall of all 9 seasons,
depicted as drawings; her voice explains each season.
Pros: very simple scene, 1 character needed, cons: need a designed poster of
9 seasons, text and voice recording.
8. Film 4
2 boys in school with a long standing rivalry about who plays guitar better,
escalating and ending with a fight in the school dining room.
9. Options/pros and cons
Option 1: fight in the dining room.
Pros: strong, dynamic beginning, cons: difficult to orchestrate, permission to
shoot in the school dining room.

Pros: use just 2 real family videos(no shooting required), cons: finding videos.
Option 3: each of them practicing guitar in the music room really hard.
Pros: easy to shoot, cons: need 2 solid guitar players, need the music room.
10. Evaluation
My task was to come up with a set of initial film ideas and pick the one which
I like best. Then, I had to come up with a few options for the opening
sequence and write the pros and cons for filming it. I have decided to choose
film 4 and based on what my feedback was, I have decided that I will change
it a little bit. Instead of the storyline being about 2 boys fighting about who
plays guitar better, it will be about a rock guitar student and a classical guitar
teacher fighting about which one is better. I have decided to change this,
because it will be much easier to film.
