Last week, the author and their group members Janet and Femi spent their free periods taking photos to develop a storyboard for their short film. They broke down the script into individual shots and took pictures on campus to represent each scene. Their first shots showed a killer looking at someone's Facebook profile on a computer. They realized computer screens can cause glare issues in photos. The following week, they uploaded the photos and added camera angles and positioning to the storyboard. While working, the author viewed similar films and realized their genre was more thriller/drama than teen horror, as it lacked graphic violence typical of horror films. The author was not worried as further research could still help with acting and production.

Developing the Storyboard and Genre Analysis
1. Week 5
Last week we spent the week developing out storyboard as without this we could not get out camera training. I, Femi and Janet spent our free
periods that week taking photos for each shot. This meant we had to break down the script making sure each aspect was representable by one
image. I decided that we will shoot out storyboard shots in college so we did not have to go far out and because I had not decided the final
locations of each scene to suit all members of our group and the other actors.
We first took pictures of the 1st shot of the killer at a computer screen where he was logged on to Facebook looking at the profile of “Sophia”
we used the same camera angles and positions as described in our script. However we did realise that some computers have a glare on them
when pictures are taken however we decided that once we have out filming training we will see if the problem still occurs when filming a
computer scene.
In our next lesson I, Janet and Femi uploaded the pictures we had taken and began to add the other aspects of the storyboard such as the
angles and position of the camera etc. While Janet continued with that I decided to look at other similar short films and trailers of the genre.
By the end of the week I realised that the genre of our film followed the codes and conventions of a thriller/drama rather than a teen horror.
Although our film did hold some aspects of our desired genre we did not for example, have any gore, blood, and killing sprees similar to other
films from the horror genre such as “Friday the 13th” and the “Scream” movies.
I found this conclusion not too worrying because I had not finished my research entirely but what I had done would still help me in the acting
of “Sophia” and the general filming and producing of the film in the coming weeks.
