The document considers different packaging options for a music video release and recommends a 6-panel cardboard digi pack. It notes this option is cheaper to produce, offers flexibility in artwork, and production houses commonly offer it, making it a good low-budget choice. Additionally, the punk-inspired style of a cardboard pack is seen as suiting the band Roy's image well. Sketches show how the front, back and inside panels could feature the band name, album art, song listings and social media details.
2. Final
Based on the final video
FOR
• Direct relation to the video look
& feel
• Using letters and images from
the actual video – video in your
hand!
• More diverse in look & feel,
telling more of the ROY story
• Irony and comedy aspects more
obvious – more broadly post-
modern
• More space for experimentation
and creativity
• Strong visual aspect good for
promotion
AGAINST
• More complicated to produce
and to make look good
• It may be considered a bit ‘too
much’ by some
• The band’s period quaintness
maybe not so obvious
• Some visuals may not be
understood without watching the
video first
• More appropriate font for text is
maybe needed?
• Requires full-colour printing
3. 6-Panel Cardboard Digi Pack
WHY THIS PACK?
I have chosen a 6-panel cardboard
pack because it’s cheaper to
produce, plus it is flexible enough
to show various artwork
approaches. It offers visual variety.
Also, most production houses offer
this pack, which, again, makes it a
good choice for a low-budget
project.
Finally, there is something
‘underground’ and ‘edgy’ with this
pack, something a bit ‘punk’, which
I think suits Roy very well!
