3. Introduction : What is Space Mouse ?
• Space mouse is a professional 3d controller designed for
manipulating objects in 3d environment.
• It serves as a man machine interface , enables the user intuitively
zoom, pan and rotate the models.
• It can control 3D cameras at different angels to position and
view that model.
4. Inside a Mouse...
• The main goal of any mouse is to translate the motion of your
hand into signals that the computer can use.

7. FEATURES...
• Ease of use of manipulating objects in 3D
applications.
• Nine programmable buttons adjust sensitivity and motion
control to the users preference.
• Fingertip operations for maximum precision and
performance.
• Calibration free sensor technology for high
precision and unique reliability.
• Natural and hand position(Resting on table) eliminates
fatigue.
8. FUNCTIONS OF SPACE MOUSE...
• It has become a standard input
device for interactive motion
control of three-dimensional
graphic objects in up to six
degrees of freedom.
• Space mouse works with standard serial
mouse interface without an additional
power supply.SpaceMouse keyboard
modifiers provide easy access to Control,
Shift, Alt, Esc functions, saving time by
reducing hand movement to the keyboard.

10. ORIGIN OF SPACE MOUSE...
E.g. JARVIS
• The history of the 3D mouse
started in the late 1970s at
the German Aerospace
Research Centre (DLR).
• In 1993, a 3D controller was
used for the first time on the
Space Shuttle Columbia,
manipulating a robotic arm.
11. ADVANTAGES...
• Drawing time is reduced by 20%-30%
Increasing overall speed.
• Going back and forth to the menu is
eliminated.
• Natural Hand position ( Resting on
table) Eliminates fatigue.
• Adapted for a wide range of tasks
including • Mechanical design
• Real time video animation
• Visual simulation
12. DISADVANTAGES...
• Too expensive( nearly $8000 earlier
now reduced to $3000 even though
manufacturing cost is less than $1000).
• Works only if RS-232 interface is
provided.
• The Mac version yet doesn’t
support Virtual number pad
and on screen menus.
13. APPLICATIONS...
1. CAD/CAM/CAE
• Auto CAD
• Auto Desk Invertor
2. Digital Content Creation
• 3D Visualization
• 3D Modelling
3. Productivity Tool
• Google SketchUP6
• NASA World Wind
• Solid Edge
14. CONCLUSION
• The Features of Space Mouse are not only applicable to the
Graphic simulation and 3D objects but they will Strongly Change
the Whole world of Manufacturing and constructing Technology.
• It is also applicable to other areas
of science Like Chemistry, Physics
and also entertainment.
