Agenda:
1. Problem of the Day
2. Questions
3. Review for Division Test (stations)
Describe and Model:
Agenda:
1. Problem of the Day. Students will begin class with solving the
problem of the day with the general education teacher Mrs. Louk
(Special education teacher assists students D, L and M during
beginning of class)
2. Questions Students will be given the opportunity to ask any
questions they may have about division before we split into
stations.
3. Split students into 4 groups to prepare for stations:
Give students a record sheet; go over each station before
students move. Explain to the students that their record sheet is
where they will be recording all their answers to turn in at the
end of the class period. (Each station should be about 10-12
2. minutes long, give about 1-2 minutes for transition time)
Station 1: Long Division Cards
-There will be long division problems on cards laid on the table
along with answers all spread out. Students will be directed to
solve each problem and they can self-check after they solve it to
see if they got the correct answer. They are to solve the problem
on their record sheet.
Station 2: Division Word Problems/Task Cards
- They will select a numbered task card, solve then record it on
their record sheet. (They can check themselves when they
finish with either the teachers or aides present in the room).
Station 3: Pick & Solve
-Students will pick a problem from the Pick & Solve board; they
can pick any number, they do not have to go in order. They will
pick a problem to solve for that number and record their answer.
Once they solve for that number they will then place that number
back on the pick & solve board and select another problem to
solve.
Station 4: “Remainder Wanted” Game:
-Two players per board game, students will take turns covering a
number on the game board with a chip. The first player will roll
the die and divide it by the number they covered. The remainder
that the student gets from that problem is their score for that
round. There are 10 rounds and is a place on the recording sheet
for them to show their work. There is also a score sheet that is
provided to the students to keep track of the score for each
round. Students can add up their total score after the 10 rounds
and whoever has the highest score wins. Also so students may
determine a winner for each round if they would like.
Station 5: Fact Family Houses/Task Cards & Parrot Mystery
Picture
-Given task cards with 3 numbers students will fill out the fact
family houses and write four fact family number sentences &
draw a picture.
-Once students have finished the Fact Family Houses Activity
they may work on the Parrot Mystery Picture. They are to solve
division problems and then color that area on the picture with the
correct color.
4. Once students have rotated through every station, have them
go back to their seat and collect all record sheets from students.
Have students pack up and get ready to switch.
5. Give students exit ticket to solve. Students must turn in exit
ticket before they switch to their next class.
Supervised Guided
Practice
Students will be completing the Problem of the day with Mrs. Louk
before stations. Mrs. Louk will be reviewing any specific type of
division problem that the students might have a question on.
3. Supervised Independent
Practice
Students will rotate through each of the 5 stations to review for
their division test. They will be solving different types of division
problems that were covered throughout the unit. Teachers and
aides may step into assist at any time where students may be
struggling.
LessonClosing
Students will be given an exit ticket with a division problem to solve
before switching to their next class.
Formative Evaluation Students will be assessedbasedon their completed work from
stations and will be graded based on correctness with 85% accuracy
on their record sheets to show their understanding of division.
