3. WHAT IS ABHIKALAN?
• Abhikalan is a series of Online Programming Contests for young programmers to
enhance their Coding and Technical Skills
• It is jointly organized by students of NIT Raipur – an Institute of National
Importance in India and eGurukul Bhaarat – a team of young technocrats who aim
to revolutionize the Education System in India
• Currently, the contests are being organized on HackerRank platform
• Abhikalan is a Sanskrit word which means Coding/Computation

4. ABOUT ABHIKALAN ORIGINS
• After leading Campus Recruitment teams across the country for 4 divisions of two
reputed organizations including 2 Global R&D Centres and Regional Head-
Quarters, Vishal Gupta, felt a dire need to provide trainings to improve technical and
other employability skills of the students.
• As a result, eGurukul Bhaarat and Abhikalan were born.
• While eGurukul Bhaarat provides On-Campus trainings, Abhikalan provides an
Online Platform for the students to test and hone their skills.

5. PARTICIPATION
• The contest is open to all. Students, Faculty and Alumni are all welcome to
participate.
• There is no participation fee.

6. TARGET GROUP
• Though the contests are open to all, our main target groups are students and novice
programmers in India
• We have found that there exists a dire need to remove the ‘fear’ of programming
from minds of students and novice programmers and hence our contests are tailored
accordingly
• However, we also include some tough problems in the contest to intellectually
challenge the experienced programmers

7. ABHIKALAN CONTESTS ARE UNIQUE…
• None of the contests that are organized aim at training the students with a
collaborative and competitive approach at the same time
• Abhikalan contests provide the participants with opportunity to learn and develop
their skills as per requirements of Industry with the help of editorials and study
material provided
• Abhikalan contests are supplemented by eGurukul Bhaarat Sessions and vice-versa
• Contests by Institutes lack Industry Insights while contests by Organizations only
focus on recruiting

9. DETAILS OF THE NEXT CONTEST
• The next contest will start at 13:00 IST on 16th February 2017
• The contest will be open for 24 hours
• Participants can login at anytime during the contest window and
solve the programming challenges
• Participants will be allowed to code in C, C++, Java (& their
variants) and C#.

11. PRIZES & INCENTIVES – NIT RAIPUR STUDENTS
• Students with top scores in the contest will be selected for the Mock Recruitment
Process by eGurukul Bhaarat Team to be held at NIT Raipur in the coming days
• Performance in the Coding Contest will be a major deciding factor for students
selected for future training sessions by eGurukul Bhaarat team
• Few members of eGurukul Bhaarat Team will take up the role of Mentors to help the
top students with projects and Career Guidance. Profiles of the members of

12. PRIZES & INCENTIVES – OTHER INSTITUTE STUDENTS
• We are in talks with HackerRank for sponsorship for prizes
• Currently HackerRank provides T-Shirts to top 3 Scorers
• Top Scorers of the Contest Series will be eligible to apply to undertake a project
under the mentorship of members of the eGurukul Bhaarat Team

• The challenges in the Abhikalan contests are set by eGurukul Bhaarat team which is
comprised of Industry experts across India, USA & Europe. Most of the members
are working with top Organizations like Amazon, Samsung, Adobe, Expedia, and
Syntel etc., while others are pursuing Entrepreneurship. Their technical insights and
experience will help the participants to develop their technical skills further, which
in-turn will be reflected in students’ performance in Campus Placements.
• Since the contests and eGurukul Bhaarat Training sessions go hand-in-hand, institute
will benefit further if such trainings are organized in future.
