WHAT IS COMMUNICATION ?
 Communication is a
process involves sharing
of information, opinion,
ideas and beliefs between
two or more persons
through a continuous
activity of speaking,
listening and
understanding.
Advantages Of Oral Communication
 It is interpersonal and helps in building
relationships.
 It encourages involvement in team work and
decision making process.
 Oral message provides prompt feedback.
 It is cost efficient.
 It is a preferred mode of communication for
private or confidential matter.
Disadvantages Of Oral Communication
 In this form of communication, emotions
are visible and hence lead to
miscommunication.
 It has no legal validity.
 It does not provide a permanent record and
the message can easily be forgotten.
 This form of communication is not suitable
for lengthy messages.
Written Communication
 Written communication means communicating
through written words.
 Written communication is more reliable and valid than
oral.
 It is the most formal form of communication.
Advantages Of Written Communication
 It allows the sender to thoughtfully draft
clear and comprehensive message.
 It has legal validity.
 It is suitable mode of communication for
lengthy messages.
Disadvantages Of Written
Communication
 It requires time for drafting message.
 It may involve postage cost.
 It causes feedback and consequently delays
in decision making.
Non-Verbal Communication
 Non Verbal communication happens in the absence
of any oral or composed words.
 Instead of written or oral words, it depends on
different non verbal prompts like body movement,
gestures, facial expression, symbols, images, signals
charts etc.

 Non verbal communication complements a
verbal message.
 Physical gestures greatly help handicapped
people, especially deaf people.

message.

as the human mind processes images very quickly.
