1. WELCOME TO THE 23RD CENTURY

Humanity’s so-called civil societies fell victim to vanity and corruption.
After THE GREAT RUIN, we started over. We created a new society, one of
true perfection. Your first step is waking up in this new world.
To save us, MASTER CONTROL established the rules of
our new community: a world where there are no
differences, no popularity, no fame, no winners, no
losers, and most of all, no past. We live in a perfect
world without pain, fear, envy, or hate. We live in a
perfect world without conflict.
How was she able to do this?
Simple. In collaboration with many of the most
powerful and prominent world governments, it was
decided that all global networks (including the
ANCIENT INTERNET) would be immediately shut down
and banned.
Then, she built the HUM 202 PROGRAM and its specially
selected agents. Humans initially rejected MASTER
CONTROL’s perfect world. She realized as a flawless AI
system, she could not truly understand human
behavior. Secretly activating the ANCIENT INTERNET,
she allowed a special group of agents to plumb and
dive into humanity’s past. Without the internet
there was no history, and there were no memories
of pain, war, or emotion. But MASTER CONTROL could
not allow these memories to disappear completely.
Her elite force of DIVRs (digital investigators of
vintage reality) – called divers – receive memories of
the past, of pleasure and pain, of color, and the
excitement of terror, hunger, and love. The price?
Divers become uniquely aware of how bland and
lifeless this empty 23rd century is, and they become
exposed to the videos, memes, images,
infographics, games, media, and content of the
incredibly violent, incredibly dangerous, and
incredibly cruel 21st century.
MASTER CONTROL has
chosen you! You are
in the service of all
humanity and will
preserve the peace
and harmony of the
23rd century.
HUM 202 is a game-
based course, in
which you take the
role of a diver. You
will dive into the
Ancient Internet and
discover the visual,
technological, and
global culture of the
21st century.
MASTER CONTROL has
taken great care in
entrusting you – a
diver – with ensuring
that our past informs
our future. However,
she can only
maintain your
psychological and
emotional safety for
brief periods of time
(approximately an
hour and fifteen
minutes). If you do
not fulfill your
mission in the time
given you, you must
complete the
mission on your
own.
Are you ready for
your first mission?
Failure is not an
option.
M U L T I P L A Y E R M O D E
You will meet face-to-face with fellow
divers, sharing information, exploring
together, and discovering the truth
behind our world.
S T O R Y M O D E
You will complete missions and
assignments, becoming an expert in
various fields and topics. You will
complete these on your own.
2. To guide you along your way, you
will have an instructor and escort
known as MENTOR. When you need
to contact him, use your personal
communicator:

SG BDE.221
You will be using MASTER
CONTROL’s system (BlackBoard)
to: engage with fellow
agents and MENTOR, submit
your work for review,
communicate, and access
your missions. You must
have access to MASTER
CONTROL’s system. If you
require assistance,
technicians are on standby.

Multiplayer Mode takes place face-to-face. Each
session is worth up to 5 AP (unless otherwise
stated). Multiplayer Mode consists of the
following challenges:
BRIEF: Mission briefs are typically informational.
This information is vital to a DIVR’s survival
when plumbing the ANCIENT INTERNET and
competing in MASTER CONTROL’s system.
ENCOUNTERS: Encounters consist of tests of
capabilities and tactics, puzzles, traps, and
other challenges. These can be solo or squad.
Co-Ops: These challenges require you to not
only use your skills and know-how but to
collaborate with fellow DIVRs in squads.
RAID: These types of squad challenges will ask
you to search and/or seize information, assets,
or AP from another squad.

recommendations.
Points are awarded each
session for being on time,
being prepared, active
listening, full engagement,
sharing, and questioning.
To earn these points
avoid electronic devices
and cross-talk. Point
deductions apply.
Story Mode consists of
independent or solo
missions you undertake in
order to earn ACHIEVEMENTS.
You must complete five
achievements in order to
earn Master, Expert, or
Insane ranks. You must
earn one achievement per
mission, but no more than
two, and complete the
