n Successful facilitation and implementation of new school wide initiatives including: Professional Learning
Communities, Advisories, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Response, One to One Laptop and
iPad Program, and Differentiated Instruction.
n Collaborated with site administrator to craft, implement, and enforce rules and other regulations of the
student code of conduct to effect positive student behavior on campus.
n Spearheaded committees that wrote and presented successful proposals for WASC Accreditation and
LAUSD charter renewal.
CLASSROOM INSTRUCTION
n Earned high marks for the quality and creativity of classroom teaching, lesson plans and instructional
materials used in teaching diverse subjects. Rated as an Alliance Master Teacher 2012 to Present.
n Taught general education students as well as individuals with learning challenges and special needs within
a mainstreamed, inclusive classroom.
n Revitalized Advanced Placement United States History program and increased pass rates from 5% to 60%
within two years.
n Established positive relationships with students, parents, fellow teachers and school administrators/staff. As a
result, voted Eleventh Grade “Teacher of the Year” three straight years.
INSTRUCTIONAL LEADERSHIP AND COACHING
n Facilitated several district-wide professional development classes on social studies instruction including:
“Using the DBQ in the Common Core Classroom”, “ Creating a Student Centered Class”, and “American
History Through Political Cartoons”.
n Consistently commended for ability to redirect students exhibiting behavior problems by replacing disruptive,
unproductive patterns with positive behaviors. As a result, selected to lead school-wide in-service on classroom
management.
n Led Social Studies Department in curriculum development, textbook review, and enhancement of Advanced
Placement program.
n Enhanced the planning, instruction, and content knowledge of beginning teachers with the goal of
improving student learning.
n Served as a collegial and knowledgeable supporter for beginning teachers who are dealing with the
challenges of the profession for the first time.
ATHLETICS
n Effectively managed high school athletic program with oversight of budgets, coaches, facilities, and
student compliance.
n Created an after school fitness program for 45 students in which class members lost a grand total of 467
pounds.
n Rejuvenated girls’ basketball program that was winless for five seasons and led them to a 10-3 record.
n Inaugurated cross-country program and led them to playoff eligibility in their first year.
