ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE
Superintendent (2009-2013) - Asbury Park School District, Asbury Park, NJ
Led a PreK-12 district rich in economic and ethnic diversity and with 1,900 students ;
Led the Teacher Effectiveness and Principal Evaluation Systems to comply with Achieve NJ
requirements;
Leddistrictcurriculum restructuring based on a Phi Delta Kappa curriculum audit in 2010 that
cited lack of curriculum as major finding in the report; developed with the board a 3 year action
plan where were implemented two years successfully.
Created three PTO’s and District Wide PTO;
Developed a Parent center that provided resources for parents and educational materials (G.E.D.
& Basic Computer Skills class), anticipated fall of 2013: ESL and Naturalization. Translations of all
materials are now available to parents upon request; Federal Parent Partners program
implemented successfully in the Spring of 2013 w
Established new proceduresincluding Job Descriptions and Evaluations for Central Office Staff,
Teachers, Principals, and Non-Instructional Staff Forms have been Revised and Updated.This has
resulted in more effective teaching staff and administration.
Established Security Protocols and Procedures andenhanced Video Surveillance and Security
Guard certifications and trainings.

All Policies and Regulations are Up-to-date, in use and available online in 2009 were polices
outdated;
Two of Four Schools met AYP in 2011/12 for the first time since 2003;
Asbury Park High School was voted 2nd
most improved High School in New Jersey Monthly
Magazine for the 11-12 and 12-13 school years. Under the new report card Asbury Park Middle
School and the Bradley and Thurgood Marshall elementaryschoolsmet school performance
targets;
Expanded Alternative School in new location for grades 7-12 to provide greater opportunity for
students to graduate and bring students out of district in district;
Our own Theater and Dance Program which allows our students to stay in Asbury Parkrather
than for the students to attend Red Bank Regional at the district’s expense;
Led the implementation of NWEA - Comprehensive web-based benchmark assessment designed
to assess students' mastery of k-12 common core learning;
Developeda curriculum-driven budget which resulted in increased student achievement; worked
in conjunction with a district fiscal monitor and Business Administrator to reduce district audit
findings from 24 to 4within a 4 year period.
Assistant Superintendent (2004-2009) - Central Islip School District, Central Islip, NY
Served at the executive level to provide leadership for district personnel, with specific
responsibility for the planning, development, assessment, implementation and
improvement of instruction and educational programs;
Managed a multimillion curriculum budget that assisted in increasing test scores;
Developed a Leadership Academy, for professional development for principals, assistant
principals and other district administrators;
Developed and coordinated an administrative mentoring program for principals,
assistant principals and directors;
Coordinated and developed a district-wide mentoring program for teachers utilizing a
district-wide mentor to monitor the program;
Developed and implemented READ180 as a strategic reading intervention in grades 8 &
9, including special education, ELL, Reading and English classes;
Developed and implemented the district’s APPR ( Annual Performance Professional
Review) Plan that was Board approved in October, 2005;
Implemented and provided training for all administrators in the Charlotte Danielson
Evaluation Model;
Designed and developed the process and procedures for the new teacher evaluation
program;
Automated all the district’s libraries;
Successfully implemented the Reading First Grant in all our elementary buildings; and
Developed a Curriculum Management Plan which is a 5 year plan that outlined the
process for writing curriculum in the district.

Principal (1997-2004) -Phillips Avenue Elementary School, Riverhead, NY
Served as the administrator to a faculty and staff of 100 with a student population of 520;grades K-
4;
Developed and implemented a four-million dollar building budget for the school;
Assisted in the development of the school’s parallel extended block schedule
Developed and implemented a school widebehavior character education program, “Caught Being
Good”;
Wrote and received the New York Early Grade Class Size Reduction Grant for 3years;
Developed and implemented the 21st Century Learning CentersGrant for after school
programming;
Received the “Closing the Achievement Gap” award from the State Education Department.
Assistant Principal (1994-1997) - Riverhead High School, Riverhead, NY
Administrator to a school staff of 98 teachers with student population of 1,200;grades 5-6;
Coordinated the district’s NYS Mentoring Program and grant funds;
Held the liaison position for the Tech prep consortium;
Chaired the high school technology committee;
Facilitated improvement of faculty and staff training and development.
Elementary Assistant Principal (1992-1994) - Pulaski Street School, Riverhead, NY
Served as the administrator to a school staff of 35 teachers with a student population of
630;grades 5-6;
Facilitated grade level meetings;
Coordinated NYS Mentoring Program;
Coordinated “Catch a Being Good” Program;
Coordinated In- School Suspension Program;
Co- chaired Riverhead Central School District Multicultural committee;
Developed a 3-5year action plan that provided training in cultural diversity to teachers, board
members, administrators, parents and support staff; and Implemented training program on
cultural diversity for stakeholder groups.
Elementary Assistant Principal (1990-1992) - Central Islip School District
Performedadministrative and supervisory functions for a staff of 44 classroom teachers and
support personnel;
Chaired the Building Level Team, a child study team that provided direct intervention for teachers
having academic and behavioral problems;
Performed crisis interventions and student counseling;
Implemented peer leadership activities;
Coordinated a community-basedNYS-sponsored mentoring program which received statewide
recognition.

Associate (1988-1990) - NYS Education Department - Office of School Improvement Services,
World Trade Center, NY - Nassau BOCES, Salisbury Center
Providedtechnical assistance and support to schools in New York City and Long Island that had
been identified by the State as being “in need of assistance”;
Supported school-based planning teams in developing 3-5 year school improvement plans with
concentration on curriculum development, staff development and school climate;
Assisted schools in the coordination of federal and state funds which addressed the needs of the
bottom quartile students; and
Assisted planning teams in data analysis (CAR) Comprehensive Achievement Report using survey
data and test scores with particular emphasis on desegregation of data.
