Currently working as Design and Proposals Engineer at Ammico Contracting Co. W.L.L and
the scope of jobs comprises design of ground anchors, shoring systems, piling works and
dewatering works.
I. Name of Employing Agency Ammico International Contracting Co. WLL
Title of Position Design and Proposals Engineer
Location of Assignment Doha - Qatar / Riyadh - Saudi Arabia
Period of Assignment June 2014 to date.
I have performed following activities so far in the capacity of Design and Proposals Engineer:
Initial design, quantity estimation and preparation of budgets for a number of tenders
comprising the scope of shoring systems i.e. secant piles, contiguous piles, diaphragm walls,
sheet piles, king post etc. piling works and dewatering works. I have worked on following
major projects during this time.
Riyadh Metro Line 6, Elevated Station 6H1, Saudi Arabia
Station 6H1 is an elevated station for which shallow excavation upto 12.0m depth is
required for basement structure. During the tendering process, we presented alternate
shoring options for safe excavation down to required level. The alternate shoring
design is about 10% more cost effective than the original shoring design and can be
completed in 80% of the scheduled construction time. It involves the following
activities:
Secant Piles / Diaphragm Wall with CHS struts
Project is currently under negotiations with the main contractor.
Riyadh Metro Line 3, Undeground Station 3J1, Saudi Arabia
Station 3J1 is deep underground station with maximum excavation depth of about
27.0m below ground. During the tendering process, we presented alternate shoring
options for safe excavation down to required level. The alternate shoring design is
about 30% more cost effective than the original shoring design and involves the
following activities:
Contiguous Piles with Ground Anchors
Contiguous Piles with CHS Struts
Cantilever micropiles with hollow steel tubes
Micropiles with CHS struts
Project is currently under negotiations with the main contractor.
Riyadh Metro Line 6, C&C Tunnels 6.3 & 6.4, Saudi Arabia
Riyadh Metro is one of world's major infrastructure project in progress. Scope of work
was the design and construction of shoring system for cut & cover tunnels 6.3 & 6.4 to
support excavations upto 17m. The projects involves a variety of shoring types in a
stretch of about 1.0km wherein I worked as a "Design Engineer" and accomplished the
design report and construction drawings for following shoring types:

Berlin Wall with Ground Anchors
Berlin Wall with CHS Struts
Contiguous Piles with Ground Anchors
Contiguous Piles with CHS Struts
Secant Piles with CHS corner Struts
Open cut with Shotcrete and Ground Anchors
Project comprises installation of 86 nos. of struts and 666 nos. of ground anchors.
Doha Metro Msheireb Station, Qatar
There are two major station in Doha Metro project and Msheireb Station is one of
those. Scope of work was the installation of diaphragm wall shoring system and
installation of more than 1400 ground anchors to support about 36.50m deep
excavation. I was involved in the design of ground anchors; the major properties for
the anchors accomplished at site were as below:
Dywidag steel strand anchors and CFRP type anchors have been used
Anchor methodology comprised traditional single unit anchors as well as singe bore
multiple unit (SBMA) types
Maximum number of strands fort the anchors installed were up to 21
Maximum proof load for anchor testing was up to 3880kN (one of the highest
anchor load successfully tested in the Middle East)
Maximum length of the anchor installed was up to 54.06m
Abraj Quartiers (AQ-3 to AQ-6), Qatar
Scope comprised installation of contiguous wall and CSM wall (with steel profiles as
earth retention system followed by excavation from existing ground level to an average
bulk excavation depth of approximately 7.0m and associated dewatering works in
addition to installation of 364 nos. bored cast in-situ working piles with diameter of
1500mm.
Al Majed Tower, Qatar
Scope comprised enabling works package for proposed (4B+G+23+P) tower building.
Design and installation of diaphragm wall shoring to support an excavation of about
21.0m deep, installation of ground dewatering system and installation of 511 nos. of
foundation piles.
