3. Safety measures
Excessive noise:
earplugs and anti-vibration gloves
The noise level of 115 dBA over the period of a quarter of an hour cannot be permitted.
Fire Extinguishers & other means of prevention and protection:
Every contractor shall have a fire protection and prevention plan developed
and implemented with the following details:
i) Response measures to be taken in case of fire
ii) Equipment required
iii) Schedules of daily and weekly inspection
iv) Readily visible signs to be posted in the fire
prone/inflammable/explosive areas prohibiting smoking use of open
flames and other hot work.
4. Eye protection:
Building worker engaged in operations like welding,
cutting, chipping, grinding or similar operations
may cause hazard to his eyes
Goggles or face shield were provided
Safety Helmets and Safety footwear
The contractor provided the safety helmet of the
approved quality to all persons engaged in
construction and erection work, including the visitors
to the site
5. Reporting of accidents:
Notice of any accident to a worker at the building or construction site that
(a) Causes loss of life
(b) Disables a worker from working for a period of 48 hours or more
immediately following the accident
(c) Special Message within four hours in case of fatal accidents and 72
hours in case of other accidents, besides the Engineer-in-charge, to
i. The Regional Labor Commissioner (Central)
ii. The Board with which the worker involved was registered as a beneficiary
iii. Director General of Building and other construction Act/Rules
6. Emergency Action Plan
Emergency Action Plan is prepared to deal with
Fire and explosion;
Collapse of lifting appliances and transport equipment;
Collapse of building, sheds or structure etc.;
Gas leakage or spillage of dangerous goods or chemicals;
Drowning of workers, sinking vessels, and
Landslides getting workers buried; floods, storms and other natural calamities.
Where more than 500 building workers are employed, emergency action plan to
handle the emergencies is prepared and emergency mock evacuation should be
conduct for every 3 months.

8. Identity cards—
The Board shall give to every beneficiary an identity card with his photograph duly affixed there
and with enough space for entering the details of the building or other construction work done
him.
A beneficiary who has been issued an identity card under this Act shall produce the same
whenever demanded by any officer of Government or the Board, any inspector or any other
authority for inspection
Different schemes under the Board:
Assistance in case of accident -
The assistance in case of accident was launched by L&E Department. Presently, if disability results
due to accident, a beneficiary can get financial assistance maximum upto Rs.1,50,000/-
on the percentage of disability.

9. Death benefit and Assistance of Funeral Expenses -
The death benefit and Assistance of Funeral Expenses was introduced by L&E
Department. Payment of death benefit(Natural Death) amounting to Rs.1,00,
is made to the nominees of the deceased beneficiary .
If the death is due to accident in course of employment, the financial assistance shall
given to a tune of Rs.2,00,000/- towards death benefit. Besides, funeral assistance of
5,000/- shall be paid to the dependents of the deceased beneficiary.
Medical Expenses for treatment of major ailments-
The scheme was introduced by L&E Department. The beneficiary who has completed
one year of registration is eligible to get benefits by RSBY scheme.
10. Educational Assistance(For both son and daughter)-
The Assistance is given to two Children of the beneficiary. The scheme was introduced
by L&E Department. Presently
the benefit is extended as follows:
(i) For class 11th / 12th -Rs. 5,000/- per annum
(ii) For B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. /PG- Rs. 7,000/- per annum
(iii) For ITI- Rs.7,000/- per annum.
(iv) For Diploma / PolyTechnique- Rs 10,000/- per annum
(v) For B.tech/MCA/MBA/B.Arch/M.Arch/M.tech/M.Sc./B.Pharm/M.Pharm/Hotel
Management & Catering Services/Medical - Rs 40,000/- per annum
11. Marriage Assistance-
The scheme was formulated by L&E Department for female beneficiary or two
daughters of the beneficiary. Presently an amount of Rs. 25,000/- is extended
towards marriage assistance.
Maternity Benefit-
The scheme was formulated by L&E Department for female beneficiary who has
completed one year of registration.
Presently an amount of Rs. 8,000/- is extended towards maternity benefit.
12. Assistance for purchase of working tools-
The Assistance is given to the beneficiary. The scheme was introduced by L&E
Department. Presently an amount of Rs. 4,000/- is extended towards the benefit.
Assistance for purchase of Bi-cycle-
The scheme was introduced vide L&E Department. Presently an amount of Rs.
4,000/- is extended towards the said benefit.
Assistance for purchase of Safety equipment-
Presently an amount of Rs. 1,000/- is extended towards the benefit.
13. Housing Assistant under Nirmana Shramik Pucca Ghar Yojana-
Grant upto Rs. 1,00,000/- .
Stipend for Skill development training-
Presently the beneficiary undergoing skill development training is eligible to get
@ Rs. 2,000/- per month subject to a maximum period of 6 months. Further, the
is implementing Recognition to Prior Learning and Skill Development scheme for
construction workers through the empanelled training partners of Ministry of Labour
Employment, Govt. of India under which onsite training is being provided to the
registered beneficiaries and wage loss compensation @Rs. 200/- p.d. is being paid to
the trainee beneficiaries. NCVT Certificate is also provided to them after completion of
the training.
