11. 1. Lok Nayak Jayaprakash Narayan National Institute of Criminology and Forensic
Science, Delhi
Established in 1972 by the Bureau of Police Research and development,
this is one of the pioneer institutes for the studies of Forensic Sciences in India. The
Institute has got its recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC) and today
boasts of various successful courses.
The institute runs various post-graduation diploma and masters courses in the field of
Forensic Science. The basic eligibility is to be graduate in any stream but some
specific courses such as M.Sc. Forensic Science prefers science graduates.

Nestled in the Institute of Science, Mumbai, is the Institute of Forensic
Science. This institute runs its operations under the Maharashtra Government. The
institute curriculum is focused on providing ample time for students to research and
new techniques of Criminology. There are a variety of courses from Undergraduate
B.Sc in Forensic Science to Masters and Post Graduate Diploma offered by the
