Roll of education to club social evils like
1. Roll of educationto club social evils like-
Violence against women, Drug abuse and
Alcoholism
Violence against women has become a global problem. The first
and best the best thing to do eradicate violence against women
is to do away with the age old discrimination between the two
gender from all walks of life .so prevention of the social evil
should start early in life, by educating young boys and boys
together, promoting respectful relationship and gender
equality. Though this has been recommended by experts on
education and commissions on education ,it has not been
effectively implemented .
In this context it is worth mentioning the
fact that the fifty-seventh section of the commission on the
status of women has focused on presentation through the
promotion on gender equality, women’s empowerment and
their enjoyment of humanrights. It also means making the home
and public space suffer for women’s and girls, ensureing
women’s economic autonomy and security ,and increase
women’s participation and decision making powers-in home
and relationships, as well as in public life and politics. Working
2. with men and boys helps accelerate progress in preventing and
ending violence against women and girls. They can begin to
challenge the deeply rooted inequalities and social NorAm that
perpetuate men’s control and power over women and reinforce
tolerance for violence against women and girls .The curriculum
Of formal education of girls besides an awareness of the
gravity of the problem must be created the media and social
media .
It has already been mentioned elsewhere in
this book that education, espically value based education is a
panacea for all social evils. For this social evil also education
and non formal education with specially designed curriculum is
the only effectivesolution.UN women ,in partnership with the
world Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS)has
developed a global non-formal education curriculum to engage
young people in efforts to prevent and violence against girls and
women ‘Voices against Violence ‘ is a co-educational curriculum
designed for various age groups ranging from 5 to 25 years. It
provides young people with tool and expertise to understand
the root cause of violence in their communities,to educate and
involve their peers and communities to prevent such
violence, and to learn about where to access support if violence
is experienced. It is good that Indian also adapt them to fulfil
her needs.

panel discussion and suggested the following top 5 things the

women, particularly those that deny women custody over
their children ,inheritance and land rights in cases of death
separation or divorce.
Drugs and Alcoholism.
The whole world is in the grip of these social evils. There are
laws preventing the use of drugs. But these are more violated
than observed. There are cases in our country where total

major cause behind the ever growing number of social
evils.Value based education is the only effective weapon to fight
against these evils.Proper legislation ,vocationalisation of
education, conscientisation are also measures to combact social
evils.
Even though many social reformation act have been enacted

society due to the lack of values.Values are closely related to
