LAHORE UNIVERSITY OF MANAGEMENT SCIENCES CITADEL OF JEALOUSY AND INTELLECTUAL STABBING IN THE BACK
I HAVE KNOWN DR ISHTIAQ SINCE 2010 AND I CAN VOUCH THAT HE IS FAR SUPERIOR TO ANY TEACHER OF SOCIAL SCIENCES IN LUMS.
BUT LUMS REMEMBER IS A BASTION OF DOUCHE BAGS .
IT CANT TAKE HEAT , IT CANT STAND ORIGINALITY AND BOLDNESS.

3. I can now announce that finally I am coming to Lahore as
a visiting professor but not at LUMS. LUMS did not renew
my contract although my two courses, Political Islam and
The Partition of the Punjab, were exceedingly popular. In
fact the Punjab course which has a cap of 50 was filled in 3
seconds.
Or, just because of the popularity of those course jealously
and envy took birth and some conspiracy was hatched
against me while I was in Stockholm. The academic world is
dominated by mediocres, opportunists, careerists and boot-
lickers.
However, decent men and women are also to be found in
this noble profession of teaching and research. The new
Vice Chancellor of Government College University, Prof Dr
Hassan Amir Shah, has invited me as a visiting professor
and I will be arriving in early January for some four months.
Since a long time friends have been asking if I was coming
this year and now I have an answer. Looking forward to
seeing all of you
Best Regards,
Dr Ishtiaq Ahmed
Professor Emeritus of Political Science, Stockholm
University; Visiting Professor, LUMS, Pakistan (2013-
2015); and Honorary Senior Fellow, Institute of South Asian
Studies, National University of Singapore. My book, The
Punjab Bloodied, Partitioned and Cleansed, *(Karachi:
Oxford University Press, 2012), won the Best Non-Fiction
4. Book Prize at the 2013 Karachi Literature Festival and the
2013 UBL-Jang Groups Best Non-Fiction Book Prize at
Lahore. My latest book is, Pakistan: The Garrison State,
Origins, Evolution, Consequences (1947-2011), Oxford,
2013. I can be reached at: billumian@gmail.com
