******There are three general categories in the definition of
culture.
(1)Ideal
(2)Documentary
(3)Social
5. ***William presented the first ideal in which culture is a state
or process Of human perfection.
***In terms of certain absolute or universal values. The
analysis of culture, if such a definition is accepted is
essentially the discovery and description, in lives and works,
of those values which universal human condition.
(1) IDEAL:
6. (2) Documentary
***Then , second, there is the documentary in which culture is the
body of intellectual and imaginative work, which, in a detailed way,
human thought and experience are variously recorded .
***The analysis of culture , from such a definition , is the activity of
criticism by which the nature of the thought and experience.
7. (3) Social
****Third there is the social definition of culture in which culture is a
particular way of life.
**** which expresses certain meaning and values not only in art but
also learning institution and ordinary behaviour.
8. ****William believes that culture should
be defined as both a whole way of life
with its common meanings as well as
the processes of discovery and creativity
in the arts and learning.
9. ****Within a given society, selection will be
governed by many kinds of special interest
,including class interests , just as the actual
situation will largely govern contemporary
selection, so the development of the society, the
process of historical change, will always tend to
correspond to its contemporary system of
interests and values.
SOCIETY
10. We can not say that we know a
particular from or period of society.
And that we will see how its art and
theory relate to it , for until we
know these we can not really claim
to know the society.
11. CONCLUSION:
****** SO, we can
see that to which many individuals
and groups contribute. Every
element that we analyse will be in
this sense active: that it will be
seen in certain real relations, at
many different levels. In describing
these relations, the real cultural
process will emerge.
