2. Cork’s Lifelong Learning Festival

Since it started in 2004, it has grown from 65 to about 500 different
events. During festival week all events are free and everyone is
welcome.

3. • The Lifelong Learning Festival is held before Easter in a wide range of venues
across Cork City.
• It is organised by the Cork City Learning Forum and City of Cork VEC.
• It aims to showcase and promote learning opportunities across the city.
• It includes all kinds of learning – literacy and numeracy, professional
qualifications, sports, crafts, languages, the arts and a whole lot more.
• As well as giving people new knowledge and skills, it can help find
employment, give them extra qualifications or generally make life more
fulfilling

• To raise awareness through PR of the educational
opportunities available.
• To facilitate joint activities bringing groups together and
securing high profile guest speakers.
• To encourage new ways of presenting learning in the
community.

6. Advertising
• We aim to promote the festival by firstly, using traditional
media such as local newspaper advertising by issuing a Press
Notice and a Press Release
• Poster Campaigns and Radio Interviews
• Colourful free festival programmes are widely distributed and
will be available from March 13 from library branches, all the
organisations involved, shops etc.
7. PR & Social Media
• To raise awareness of the educational opportunities available.
• Securing high profile guest speakers.
• Showcase educational opportunities that Cork has to offer through
PR and Social Media such as Facebook and Twitter campaigns
• Create high level of awareness among target audiences
• Identify and promote the Lifelong Learning Festival highlights and
venues to local media.
• To encourage participation in the various events
