1. Technology
Having studied GCSE Photography, I had some sort of an inkling as to how
to manage a professional photography camera and use it to the best of my
advantage in order to capture high quality images. However, I learnt more
when taking my photos for my magazine as I required them to be very high
quality such as the ones in professional hip hop magazines such as Vibe
and The Source. I first experimented with a Fujifilm professional camera
and took images of one of my friends as models using a bedroom as a
location. After testing out how it would look like as my front cover image, I
realised it wouldn’t work due to the distractions taking place in the
background and how it wouldn’t really look like a high quality image.
Therefore, I used two other friends as models and used outdoor locations
such as Camden streets where there’s graffiti and has more of an ‘urban’
feel and my outside garden. I figured out how to use the daylight and
outdoor location to take high quality photos, I placed the flash on for my
photo-shoot in order to increase the brightness of my photos something I
hadn’t done previously, and overall learnt the technicality of capturing
good photos that’d be seen in hip hop magazines.
