3. Conventions of my music
magazine - Cover Photo
• There is eye contact from the main
image to engage the audience
• The main image is centered and
covers the whole page to make it
the main focus of the cover
• The photo and headline are linked
together so people know who it is
• Nothing can cover the face of the
main image because it would draw
focus away
• There is nothing in the background
so that focus is not taken to where
he is

4. Conventions of my music
magazine - Masthead
• My masthead takes up a
lot of the cover as it has to
be the biggest writing on
the cover to get recognized
• The masthead is located at
the top of the cover as it is
easier to see
• I have used a different font
in the masthead to the rest
of the cover to make it
stand out more

5. Conventions of my music
magazine – Cover Lines
• The artists names are easy
to read as they have been
made bigger and in a
different color
• The cover lines barely
overlap the main image
because it would distract
the reader so they have
been put on the left and
right side of the cover

6. Conventions of my music
magazine - Headline
• The headline is the name
of the artist who is the
main image on the cover
• The headline is the second
biggest piece of text on the
page to draw the attention
of the reader to the artists
name and why he’s on the
cover with the subheading

7. Conventions of my music
magazine – Selling Line
• The selling is always at the top
of the magazine so that it is
important to read
• The small font does not draw
any attention away from the rest
of the covers main features e.g.
the masthead
• I have wrote this in a different
color to the rest of the cover to
make it stand out a bit
• The selling line usually tells
people what is happening in the
magazine

– Features, Reviews and Columns
• The page numbers are big
so they are clear and easy
to read
• I have used a similar style
to Q but keeping my house
theme running through
with the blocks behind
“Features” and “Reviews”
• I have only used one
column to try and not
overcrowd the page

magazine – Page Title
• The music magazines
name is usually by the title
of the contents page to
remind people what to
expect from the contents,
this is big so it is easily
recognized
• The date of the magazine
is usually smaller so it
does not draw attention
away from the title

The images I have used were
taken by me and the clothing he
was put in is my idea as he had to
look hip hop that is why he is
wearing sunglasses inside and
wearing a hooded jacket inside.
