2. Genre Choice
The main reason we chose to make our film opening a
crime drama is because some of the most popular and
successful films are within this genre: The
Godfather, Goodfellas and Taxi Driver.
The genre is known for the suspense, much like horror
films, however we felt that we could make a higher quality
film through this genre, since the lack of morally “good”
characters in crime drama makes it much more interesting.
3. Storyline
As the film begins, the main character, “Antonio” has his life
threatened by Hector – someone he thought he could trust.
As the opening progresses, we will imply that the betrayal
was done by his brother Jason. The film will start off by
setting the story instead of the scene, which will get the
audience to focus more on the characters and their
relationships, as well as the dilemma at hand.
4. Themes
S Trust & Betrayal
S The implication of betrayal from those who the characters trust
the most is a very gripping way to tell a story, and entices the
audience to find out what happens
S Imperfection
S The characters all have their imperfections, and their own
reasons for doing different things
S Crime in people’s lives
S Crime affects people’s lives in many different ways, and the film
will look to illustrate this, and how it comes with its own
burdens
