Powerpoint Script – Unholy Justice - October 2012

Slide 1 - Introduction

Hi, my name is Josh and this is Arman and together we make up
AKUMU Pictures. Our Company would specialise in horror and thriller
film franchises, similar to companies like Twisted Pictures and Newline
Cinema.Instead of a high end big budget film with gratuitous amounts of
CGI that would severe all tension that has been built, we will instead
concentrate on building up tension with effective lighting, camera angles
and a twisted plot line. The films that we intend to create will all have
deep meaning and dark storylines.

(insert logo)

Today we shall pitch our film to you with the help of a Powerpoint
presentation.

Slide 2
We have tried and tested numerous logo and name options. We agreed
on a noir silhouette theme for our production companies‟ logo as this
means we can pretty much place it anywhere with minimal hassle and
editing but maximum recognition. Our logo will be instantly recognisable
as its bold and simple.

Slide 3
The title of our film is called “Unholy Justice” but this may change, so
don‟t get too used to it! We chose this title because it reflects the main
themes of the film and when you see the title it gives the audience a
small idea of what the film is already about.

Slide 4
To sum our film up in five words or less, it would have to be „Constantine
meets Max Payne‟. This gives you, as the audience a good idea of what
type of film we are making.
Joshua Alderman & Arman Khan
Powerpoint Script – Unholy Justice - October 2012
Slide 5

The genre of our film is a noire supernatural thriller on the borderline of a
horror.

The film is about a young boy who is about 7yrs old, whose parents are
caught up in a Cult. The Cult tells the parents to kill the boy as a
sacrifice, but they refuse only to find that the child has been possessed
by the same Cult to turn the tables and unwillingly kill his parents.

Many years after this event, the boy is now 32 years old and is much
more de-sensitised about life and cold-hearted. The film follows the man
on his quest for revenge and answers as well as his struggle to keep
control over the possession which is still inside him. He gradually takes
out each guilty cult member one by one to get answers and to ultimately
rid himself of his curse.

Slide 6– Characters

We haven‟t established the names of the characters or the actors who
will play them yet, but we can still give a character description and
provide some pictures of what we would hope they would look like.
Although we haven‟t specified actors and acute features but we have
given some information to work with.

Slide 7- The Boy – (insert picture of a teenager)

The boy‟s character will be that of a timid and emotionally disturbed
child, wondering what the hell he has gone through and is desperately
trying to work things out in his head.

He will look quite innocent and appealing, but in his eyes you can see
something more sinister and insidious as he is trying to hold back the
possession that made him murder his parents.
Joshua Alderman & Arman Khan
Powerpoint Script – Unholy Justice - October 2012
Slide 8 – The man- (protagonist/main character)

This character should look somewhat similar to the boy, but with more
defined rugged features, showing that he has been through a lot. His
personality would be the very serious „anti-hero‟ type showing he is the
main protagonist in this movie. His character would be someone who
didn‟t care about who got in his way and although he is good inside, his
methods and how he goes about getting his answers are cold and
remorseless. He doesn‟t show any mercy and sometimes has a short
temper. This man is somewhat of a stock character as his attributes and
personality is quite similar to other „anti-hero‟ main characters, for
instance the Punisher or Max Payne.

Slide 9 – The parents

They should look generically friendly, a typical upper/middle class British
family, giving the impression that they are a caring couple. Although
they don‟t play a main part in the film, it‟s vital that the audience sees
them as kind and caring, so they sympathise with the main character.
They will also be featured in the two minute opening, which adds to their
importance.

Slide 10 – The Cult members

We feel they should be well spoken, as they are not just a group of
mindless fanatics or street youths, more like a secret society, very
ordered. Most of them will look like unassuming members of the public
until the main character confronts them or fights them at which point you
realise they are a lot stronger than they look. Each member has the
exact same tattoo of a (insert tattoo icon) on their necks or on the inside
of their wrists. In the film there will be a faire amount of Cult members
which the main character encounters throughout the film so they play a
significant role.
Joshua Alderman & Arman Khan
Powerpoint Script – Unholy Justice - October 2012
Slide 11 – Friends along the way

Throughout the movie, including the two minute opening sequence, the
main character will have one or two friends, these are his only allies who
together aid him in his fight for justice. They should sound quite serious
and similar to the main character, but with the occasional dry joke. One
of these friends will most likely be played by a strong female character
as this adds to the appeal of the movie. They help to drive the story
forward as they help the hero through different situations.

Slide 12 – Settings

The story is going to be set in the UK, probably in an urban area in the
current year 2012. We intend to make the movie quite dark and most of
the time with quite low lighting effects, like “old London” with the smog
and damp and greyness of the skies.
(insert picture/video of urban scenery showcasing an urban area)

Slide 13 – The opening scene

During the opening scene you will see what happens to the parents of
the boy with him sitting in a corner with the dead parents in front of him –
after this, we will include a “20 years later” banner that will progress to to
the main character in the future. It will then show him following a cult
member who is being mugged by a youth. He then proceeds kill the
youth, this shows he is definitely cold-hearted, he then goes on to
interrogate and kill the cultist. Upon killing the person, he discovers a
note on the body telling him to meet someone who can give him the
answers he is looking for. Even though he knows the note is from
another member of the cult he has to follow this through as it is his only
lead. After this, it will most probably show different clips of the movie
resulting in the title of the movie appearing, then a black screen leading
into the title of the film.

Slide 14

The opening scene and the film uses narrative theories and codes like:
(bullet points), binary opposition, Todorov‟s equilibrium and Syd Fields
three act plot structure theory.
