• WeChat is a mobile text and voice messaging
communication service developed by Tencent in
China, first released in January 2011.
• The app is available
on Android,iPhone, BlackBerry, Windows
Phone, Symbian. Languages supported include
traditional/simplified Chinese, English,
Indonesian, Spanish, Turkish, Malay, Japanese,
Korean, Italian, Thai, Vietnamese, Hindi and
Russian. WeChat is supported on Wi-Fi,2G, 3G,
and 4G data networks.

• WeChat began as a project at Tencent
Research and Project center in October
2010. The original name of the app, "Weixin",
was devised by Shane Wilson and Ross
Mackinnon, both were Canadians living in
China as ESL teachers at the time of their
discovery of WeChat.

• In May 2011, WeChat had 4-5 million users, and
by the end of 2011, it had 50 million
users. WeChat had more than 100 million users
by March 2012.
• In April 2012, Weixin re-branded as WeChat for
the international market.
• In September 2012, WeChat had more than 200
million users according to Tencent CEO, Ma
Huateng. As of January 2013, it had 300 million.

• Google+ (pronounced and sometimes written
as Google Plus) is a social networking and
identity service that is owned and operated
by Google.
• It is the second-largest social networking site
in the world after Facebook

• Google launched the Google+ service as
an invitation-only "field test" on June 28,
2011,but soon. On August 6, each Google+
member had 150 invitations to give out until
September 20, 2011, when Google+ opened to
everyone 18 years of age or older without the
need for an invitation. It was opened for a
younger age group (13 years or older in US and
most countries, 14 or older in South Korea and
Spain, 16 or older in the Netherlands) on January
26, 2012.Google+ is available as a website and on
mobile devices.
