2. This presentation will briefly explain how I came to constructing my music video. To be able
to construct my video the digital technology that I use was the MacBook laptops where I
used a software knew as final cut, a programme that would allow me to edit and filter my
video to reach professionalism as possibly to achieve the aim of making the video look like
a real media product.
After all the filming then saving all the footage in a folder, when opening Final cut presented
me with a two canvases to, one in which for me to view my video.
From that point it was simple the matter of headed to the folder where all my footage was saved then
dragging the clips that I wanted onto the track under the canvas. When decided the footage I wanted
to use, I previewed all of then to make the decision which one is best suited for the video. When
agreeing upon what footage to add to the video I then applied it to the track. What I also added to the
track was the audio, the music that will be featured in the video.
3. As I first time use of Final Cut I did experience some issues especially with the soundtrack. When
adding a clip to the track, what I noticed that occurred was another audio clip appeared due to
when filming the video the person that was portraying the artist had to sing and played the song
out loud through a Mobile phone in order to try to get the lip syncing accurate. This then interfered
with the soundtrack as it spitted a part of the song, thus having me not only but the delete the
extra audio but to reattach the soundtrack.
Within Final Cut when adding a clip allowed me to crop it deleting any extra unwanted features.
The most important part was to render all of the clips and soundtrack in order for me to play it and
preview it on the canvas to see any errors.
Further on within this presentation you will see print screen from my video and may have notice
that the whole of my filming was done on a green screen. When using Final Cut allowed me to key
out the green screen using Chroma Key as from watching existing videos that a few are done in a
studio and the green screen is edited out. By using the search engine Google I was able to find
suitable backgrounds to apply to my footage, an example is the red/black tone used to represent
the fire linking back to the song.
I tried to stick to my flat plan for my video and there are some similarities to the video with the flat
plan and the in-depth study of how envisioned the video to take form. The first similarity was the
introduction of the lyrics, when the artist was singing ‘fire ball I’m atomic all day now, talking ‘bout
games got balls like s playground’, the flat plan would show that artist tuning to the side to sing
the first phrase, then to the other to sing the other.
However, one of the alteration that I have made was the absence of the male performer as in the
song the male vocals are present however I did axe the male out due to the reason of the
meaning of the song as it expresses the female character rapid raise to glorious fame spreading
like fire and the ambition of her wanting more fame and the riches that comes along with it; which
lead me to make my decision of having her featured throughout the whole video.
However, I did needed to fill the space for the male vocals, which then lead to this idea.
4. From the print screen shows the artist
turning her head to the left the to the
right which fitted perfect to the male
vocals ‘I’m throwing money over here,
money over, there...’ showing how the
performance of the artist matches with
the lyrics.
Below shows another print screen of
the artist giving a short dance with the
shaking of her hips, back towards the
camera. This will also be used to fill
the space for the male vocals and
also, by the reappearance of the
dance it embed into the mind of the
audience, so when hearing the song
they are familiar with the dance.
Many upbeat music video do share
that code and convection.
An example would be Lady Gaga’s -
Judas which I have analysed of
having that dance routine, the hand
gesture of the heart for love.
5. Leading away from the second
verse these print screens show
the clips during the male vocals
and presenting to the audience
a series of strong poses not only
advertise the fashion which links
to the convention of a Pop video
so the audience can identify
what is the later trends but to
show the artist confidence from
the idea a having and wanting
riches.
This series e shows the movement of the artist, showing the confidence but also quite a sexual essence
to the artist of not only that she is female and the media portray the female form to be sexual but also it
corresponds to the lyric ‘Boppers keep on hopping, playboy bunny’. This supports my suggestion of the
sexual nature as Playboy bunnies (waitress at the Playboy club) are seen as sex symbols .
6. Leading to the next verse of the song I have
added a transition. The Transition that I have
added will stretch, will stench from the pervious
footage introducing this verse. I have added a
few transitions as I believe that the transitions
serve the purpose to give the video fluency so
that the audience may be able to follow the story
arch and displays media skills and what Final Cut
can achieve. Another transition that I have in the
first verse was a push slide and a fade. However, I
kept the involvement t of the transitions to a
minimal due to the reason that my video is a an
upbeat song so the quick cuts was the main
usage and are already present.
The use of the camera movement is very unique , how it trails along artist body and shows the different
camera angles. This reaches then ending of the video where you can see the artist has fallen into a
daydream trans of her envisioning her positive future of having more money and more fame.
