2. Question 1
In what ways does your media product use, develop and challenge forms and
conventions of real media products?
For their first question they decided to post their answer straight onto the blog without using any form of presentation e.g.
slideshow, prezi. They started off by displaying how they first started their research and what the typical conventions are. They
then began to show evidence of how they developed conventions into their own short film.
They showed what they found out and how the information that they found impacted on their work e.g. how flashbacks were
shown in Shutter Island which they research which further lead to them using flashbacks in their own work. Slender was their
main inspiration.
I think that by them using pictures and embed videos into the written areas helped break up their answer but as well as that it
helped back up their points and also show what they saw visually.
3. Question 2
How does your media product represent particular social groups?
For question two they decided to use a slide show which was then embed to
their blog.
In their slideshow they broke down the question into different parts of the
answers on each slide. The first slide told us what they were considering whilst
making/planning their short film which is great because it lets the audience
know exactly what they were thinking kind of an inside of their mind.
As you continue reading they start to show each characters details e.g. the
Dad played by a boy called Tom.They say their characters age, gender, class,
job and nationality. They described what that character did in their short film
and how is challenged stereotypes at times.
The last slide they said what they could have done better if they could do it
again which I think is good because it shows that even though what they
produced was good they still thought it could have some improvements.
Also in the last slide they showed that they considered the audience as they
they thought that it would show the audience the ’emotional engagement.
4. Question 3
What kind of media institutions might distribute your media product and why?
For question three they decided to use a Prezi to display their answers to this
question. Prezi is good as they can break the question up into many parts and
display it in a continuous motion.
In their Prezi they have shown 2 film companies which they thought would be good
for their short film. They have given a brief outline of what they company is and
something that it has produced. They then go to say why they think it would be a
good distribution for them.
After the two companies shown they then tell us that maybe their short film would
be good onYouTube first to create a small fan base then to make their work famous
and well known. They backed this idea up by the film Paranormal Activity which was
first shown online then later on made into a DVD because it became so popular.
They also stated the disadvantage of posting it on the internet first, they said that
they would not get any profit which isn’t very good.
The last bit shown was the conclusion where they said who their ideal distribution
would be and why.
5. Question 4
Who would be the audience for your media product?
For question four they decided to make a stop motion which they then edited to
upload ontoYouTube.
They started this idea first by making a plan on paper of what they were going to
do and say in their stop motion. They used clay figures to represent the bodies of
the voices that you hear.
In their stop motion I can hear that they talk about their characters age and
general background which has given me ideas to do that in my question four
analysis.
They said that they wanted a certain age group which was a similar age to their
main character so that the audience could relate to the main character.
From listening to their stop motion
I have gained ideas of saying
exactly what I wanted to achieve
with my target audience and why.
Also to break apart my characters
to show how they link to our target
audience.
6. Question 5
How did you attract/address your audience?
For question fiveTeam 7 Productions decided to make a short
sequel to answer the question.
In this sequel they decided to describe how they got their target
research. They first said that they did an online survey to find out
from people what their audience like and who a majority of their
audience is.
They said their short film had to appeal to their audience e.g.
sound, mise en scene, characters.
Their narrative was different to normal peoples life so they
hoped that it would appeal to their audience to watch something
different.
They wanted a good audience so that their short film would get
more publicity which would only be successful if they had a
target audience which would speak about it and share it around.
7. Question 6
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of construction this
product?
In question six they had to explain what they have learnt from the
beginning of filming and researching to the end of filming and
researching.
They also needed to mention from everything that they have
learnt what has helped them the most to construct their short film
e.g. Final Cut Pro, Blogger.
I cannot comment on what they put as what they embed on their
blog would not load and I could not access it anywhere else
unfortunately.
8. Question 7
Looking back at your premlimary task, what do you feel you have learn in the
progression from it to the main task?
For the final question I can see that they made a video response
then uploaded it toYouTube to be viewed.
They explained how they made a change from the prelimary
task to their final short film. They spoke about what mistakes
they made in the premlimary task and how they stayed clear of
making those mistakes again in the final short film.
They touched on about camera work, sound, editing, lighting
and mise en scene and how they improved it in just a short
space of time.
