Salesforce.com has sustained an enterprise agile transformation for more than seven years. Mike Register shares the major challenges Salesforce faced and how they addressed them―challenges that include scaling coaching within a very large enterprise (230 teams and growing rapidly) and effectively emphasizing the foundation principles behind the practices. All four Agile approaches in combination in one company! What a radical thought, especially with the fearsome flames of the agile methodology wars! It all started with Scrum versus Scrum. Then Scrum versus Kanban. Then everybody against DSDM. And finally late last year things escalated with the global take-up of the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe). Sadly dogmatic Agilistas continue to see just one (or two) of the four approaches as the solution to everyones’ problems. Despite the fact that no single one can be the silver bullet. Yet despite this dogmatism, Agile and Lean has made a massive difference to people’s lives. Hundreds of thousands if not millions of IT professionals and hobbyists benefit daily from these approaches. So we must put our ego to one side and remember that the approaches are not about a particular methodology: They are about people and results. By putting people and results first we can illustrate in this session why, how and where all four approaches (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe & DSDM) are applicable. Incredibly we will see that a particular type of organization should consider all four! To support this discussion, we will examine different types of organization, each with their own set of characteristics. For each we will explore which approaches would be the most appropriate now and in the future plus risks.

In this talk we will examine some dangerous Agile at Scale implementation anti-patterns from real-world cases I've been involved in such as: Planned/Mandate-based implementation across the enterprise - Pushing implementations onto people regardless of their interest/motivation to change. Prescribed-based implementation - Either by the book or as designed by a central committee or an external consultant. Total focus on practices starting from training all the way through assessment/metrics and lack of attention to spirit/principles. Expecting every group in the organization to work the same way and implement change the same way. We will then look at some healthier alternatives I used to drive more successful & sustainable change in several organizations. You will learn some concrete techniques that help live up to the Lean/Agile principles of respecting and engaging people. Using SAFe as the specific backdrop for discussion, we will review field-proven ideas such as pull-based crossing the chasm approach to implementation, use of open space as part of the different SAFe ceremonies, and how Open Space Agility can combine with SAFe. Note that the ideas and practices have also been tried with other Scaled Agile approaches such as Enterprise Kanban, LeSS. Learning Outcomes: Get familiar with some scaled agile implementation anti-patterns related to push/mandate. Understand when to choose pull/invitation as a healthier more sustainable and successful alternative. Get some concrete techniques to bring pull/invitation into a scaled agile implementation approach - focusing on SAFe 1-2-3 implementation approach specifically. Because the marketing operating system is being disrupted and the larger the marketing organization the more it struggles to maintain relevancy and impact. More and more marketing organizations are seeing the impact of Agile and want to benefit as well. How should an organization using SAFe in R&D/IT look at Agile in Marketing? Is SAFe the right choice? Does it work “as is”? Are there any changes needed to support this new context? What are some lessons learned from trying this in the field? Learning Objectives and Key Takeaways: At some point in your enterprise transformation you should consider applying SAFe outside of Product Development/IT. Marketing is a great candidate for a next Value Stream to implement SAFe in. In our research paper titled "Qualitative Analysis on Tax Evasion and Reasons for Reluctance to Join ATL in Pakistan," we delve into the intricate dynamics of tax compliance and explore the underlying reasons why individuals in Pakistan might hesitate to become a part of the Active Taxpayer List (ATL) within the framework of business law and taxation. With a multidisciplinary approach, our team of five researchers embarked on an in-depth exploration of tax evasion behaviors and the factors influencing them. Through qualitative analysis, we aimed to unravel the complex interplay of socio-economic, cultural, and institutional factors shaping tax compliance attitudes among Pakistani taxpayers. Drawing on a diverse range of qualitative research methods, including interviews, focus groups, and content analysis, we gathered rich insights from a diverse sample of individuals representing various sectors of the economy. By immersing ourselves in the lived experiences and perceptions of taxpayers, tax advisors, and legal experts, we uncovered nuanced perspectives on tax evasion practices and attitudes toward ATL membership. Our findings highlight the multifaceted nature of tax evasion in Pakistan, shedding light on both the motivations driving non-compliance and the barriers to ATL enrollment. From perceived inefficiencies in the tax system to cultural norms and trust deficits in governmental institutions, our research identifies a myriad of factors contributing to tax evasion behavior and reluctance to join ATL. Furthermore, our study offers valuable implications for policymakers, tax authorities, and business stakeholders seeking to enhance tax compliance and foster a culture of transparency and accountability in Pakistan's taxation landscape. By addressing the underlying drivers of tax evasion and promoting the benefits of ATL membership, policymakers can design more effective strategies to broaden the tax base and promote sustainable economic development. In conclusion, our research paper represents a comprehensive endeavor to deepen our understanding of tax compliance dynamics in Pakistan and elucidate the complexities surrounding ATL enrollment. By unraveling the intricacies of tax evasion behaviors and attitudes, we hope to contribute to informed policymaking and foster a culture of tax compliance and integrity in Pakistan's business and taxation environment.
