1. How effective is the combination of
your main product and ancillary
tasks?
2. Main Poster
The print advert we created reflects the theme of the documentary. For the main poster we used a
still image out of the footage taken from the documentary of pointe shoes to promote it. The key
concept of the documentary is how everyone can dance. To link to the documentary we continued
using overlays as used in the title sequence. On the poster we included the text ‘can you stand still?’
which is the title and included a tag line ‘there’s something out there for everyone’. We used a white
text box with black writing to give a contrast to the poster. We used a simple form of address as it’s
aimed towards all ages and sexes. We also kept to the conventions of channel 4 by using the logo and
the block text box.
3. Radio advert
In the radio advert we used sound bites from the documentary such as
‘modern’ ‘tap’ and ‘as long as it’s dance I don’t care’ of people talking
about their favourite style of dance. To link to the documentary we
also used the same voice over to give continuity between the two
products. We used the same mode of address and language ‘dance
fever sweeps the nation’ and ‘try and stand still’ to give the
documentary a light hearted feel rather than it being too serious. A
short section of the advert includes an interview of a girl talking about
just dance which shows the variety in the documentary. The radio
advert gives the audience a taster of what is to come in the
documentary.
4. Similar to channel 4 adverts we have used one main image from the documentary to give a teaser of
what’s to come. We placed the channel 4 logo on the right side of the image so it doesn’t get in the
way and isn’t distracting. We also coloured it in white to contrast with the main image. The font used
is similar to the channel 4 advert , they are simple but noticeable. The actual channel 4 font can not be
used as its copyrighted. We also used the bold text box which is something specifically used by
channel 4.
