How effective is my combination of main and ancillary tasks
1. How effective is my
combination of my main
task and ancillary tasks?

2. Style
Throughout the digipak, I used a selection of monochrome images which I captured on
my smartphone. I changed then from the original colour to monochrome because it
allowed me to ensure consistency throughout my final products. It also helps to show a
solid link between my video and ancillaries and it created the dark mood that relates to
the theme of the song.
3. Clothing
I used the same clothing and costume for the images on the ancillary for the video and visa versa. I
did this on purpose to show that particular link between the two products. As well as this, the same
clothing used creates this consistency in the style which is effective for the audience to be able to
understand the genre/ style/ type of music easier.
Also, I think that the use of the dark t shirt and black skinny jeans is a good representation of the rock/
pop genre. This is key the ensuring the audience is completely understanding the genre and style of
the music.
4. Location
I shoot my whole film in a number of different locations. However, some locations were more significant than others and
I decided on these locations for specific reasons. For example, I decided on an open public location for the introduction
inspired by Ed Sheerans music video for his track 'Lego House'. This open location showed loneliness and isolation.
However, the more urban style location I used was underneath a roundabout to connote anxiety through the use of
narrow tunnels suggesting claustrophobia. These tunnels were a significant area to my video because it was where the
narrative opened up. Because of this, I decided to shoot my ancillaries in these tunnels. By doing this , I think that I am
effectively showing a link between my main product and ancillary tasks which makes the promotion of the artist much
stronger and allows the viewer to recognise the location to relate it to that particular artist. For example, if the viewer
watched the music video and identified the location, they would be able to look at the poster and realise that it is a
James Arthur advert.
5. Limiting people
Throughout both tasks, I kept the number of people used in the video itself to a
minimum. This is because I wanted to connote that sense of isolation. By doing
this, I am expressing the mood further which is effectively creating an
understanding for the audience.
6. My video
These are screenshots of my video. These
particular long shots reinforce the sense of
isolation.
