Within my awareness video, I will not incorporate any
speech – there will be a backing sound track (Everglow by
Coldplay). This is song is sung by a reputable artist
therefore my target audience can relate. The song also
isn’t too upbeat therefore connoting a peaceful and
meaningful mood. If my video used upbeat and
unknown music – my target audience would instantly
not feel engaged with the narrative of my video.
One of the main reasons I didn’t use speech was the fact that sometimes,
especially as we are creating a pro bono video, the actors can ruin the
engaging setting. By using a renowned song, the audience wont giggle or
laugh at actors used. If we had a budget which allowed us to hire actors, we
can maximise the chances of professionality leading to enhanced meaning
to the audience.
Other sounds used will be a notification sound which is reputable to the
teenage demographic. As we live in exponential times, our lives are
becoming more and more dependent on technology around us. The use of
phones, especially apple phones, are exponentially growing meaning more
and more millennials are used to hearing the notification sound. This sound
isn’t too distracting which again maximises the chances of keeping the
audience’s attention on the significant video.
Everglow reached number 4 on the Belgium music charts – meaning that
not only can English speakers understand and relate to my video but most
countries around Europe can relate to the song. This expands the profit if
my video was published on a professional stage. Despite only reaching 52
on the UK single charts, Everglow is a notorious single and is known by a
large percentage of the population.
The way I will communicate action within my awareness video will be by
using facial expressions as the main form of emotion. As well as facial
expressions, the use of physical expressions such as head down and arms
folded will feature to show loneliness for the protagonist.
