3. Nike’s successful story:
- Nike started in 1964 by two visionaries, Bill Bowerman and his University of Oregon
runner Phil Knight. They started designing and selling shoes to runners and they did a
great job.
- Today Nike is the world’s leading innovator in athletic footwear, apparel, equipment
and accessories”. Nike helped a lot of athlete win races and games, also the athletes
helped Nike to improve their products
4. SWOT analysis:
1- Strengths:
• World’s leading brand for sports shoes and apparel
• Ranked in top three for climate-friendly companies
2- Weaknesses:
• High Advertising Costs: Part of the company’s marketing strategy involves locking up major
sports stars in lengthy endorsement deals.
3- Opportunities:
• Product expansion in areas like more concentration in sunglasses, sportswear etc. which
gives high profit
• Enhance brand visibility by opening sports academies across the world for nurturing talent
4- Threats:
• Footwear market is so competitive, major competition from other brands
• Adaption of new techniques and innovation by other brands
5. Conclusion:
In the end, Nike is a great example for most of the companies because of Nike’s
strategies and how it improved through the past years and still improving. According
to (success story, 2012)” Bill Bowerman’s desire for finding a better solution and Phil
Knight’s business innovation have led to making Nike one of the most profitable and
recognisable companies on the planet”.
