Punctuation (যতি বা ছেদ তিহ্নের বযবহার)
Punctuation বলহ্নি period ( . ? !), comma (,) semicolon (;) inverted comma (“ ”) ইিযাতদর বযবহারহ্নে বুঝায়।
পরীক্ষায় সবহ্নিহ্নয় ছবতি বযবহৃি হয় এমন েহ্নয়েতি Punctuation তনহ্নয় আমরা এখাহ্নন আহ্নলািনা েরব।
(1) Full stop (.) বহ্নস ছোন পূর্ণ বাহ্নেযর ছিহ্নে, ছোন তববৃতির (statement) ছিহ্নে, ছোন আহ্নদি (command) বা অনুহ্নরাহ্নের
(request) ছিহ্নে। ছযমন-
He is a man of strong personality. (statement)
Do this work without delay. (command)
Please do not do this work. (request)
(2) ছোন বক্তার বক্তবয হুবহু িার ভাোয় প্রোি েরহ্নি inverted comma (“ ”) বযবহৃি হয়। ছযমনঃ
(i) He said, “I am going to college.”
(ii) The man said, “I went to college. I attended a few classes.”
উপহ্নরর (ii) নং sentence এ he said অংিিু েু মাঝখাহ্নন বসাহ্নল he said অংিিু েু বাহ্নদ উভয় পাহ্নির অংিিু েু inverted
comma (“ ”) এর মহ্নেয থােহ্নব। ছযমনঃ
“I went to college,” he said, “I attended a few classes.”
(3) ছয সেল word ছোন বযতক্ত বা বস্ত্ত সম্পহ্নেণ অতিতরক্ত িথয প্রদান েহ্নর ছসসব word গুহ্নলাহ্নে comma (,) দ্বারা আলাদা
েরহ্নি হয়। ছযমনঃ
Muzammel Hossain, the Chairman of ABC Company, was present in the meeting.
(4) ছোন question এর answer শুেু “Yes” অথবা শুেু “No” দ্বারা ছদওয়া থােহ্নল িা inverted comma দ্বারা তলখহ্নি হয়।
এহ্নক্ষহ্নে শুেুমাে “Yes” অথবা “No” িব্দতি inverted comma এর তভিহ্নর থােহ্নব।
He asked me, “Do you know his name?” I replied, “Yes.”
তেন্তু Yes এবং No এরপর আরও েথা থােহ্নল Yes/No ছথহ্নে inverted comma শুরু হয় এবং ছিে হয় সব গুহ্নলা েথা
ছিহ্নে। ছযমন- The man replied, “Yes, I have done.”

(5) ছোন statement এর পর that থােহ্নল that এর পহ্নরর অংহ্নি inverted comma (“ ”) বহ্নস না। ছযমনঃ
He said that he had done the work yesterday.
(6) Question Mark (?)
ছোন বােয দ্বারা প্রশ্ন েরা হহ্নল ছস বাহ্নেযর ছিহ্নে বহ্নস।
Do you know where he lives? Will you come the day after tomorrow?
(7) Question mark (?) ছোন quotation mark (“ ”) এর তভিহ্নর বহ্নস যখন শুেুমাে quotation অংিিু েু দ্বারা প্রশ্ন বুঝায়।
ছযমন- The teacher said, “Why are you late?”
(8) Question Mark (?) ছোন quotation mark (“ ”) এর বাইহ্নর বহ্নস যখন সম্পূর্ণ বােযতিই প্রশ্ন। ছযমন-
Did the teacher say, “return my book”?
(9) ছোন তিজ্ঞাসা বািে িহ্নব্দর পহ্নর if বা whether থােহ্নল if বা whether এর পহ্নরর অংহ্নি inverted comma (“ ”) বহ্নস
না। ছযমনঃ
He asked me if I had done the work. He asked me whether he would come.
(10) ছোন প্রশ্নহ্নবােে বাহ্নেয এহ্নের অতেে প্রশ্ন থােহ্নল প্রতিতি প্রহ্নশ্নর ছিহ্নে question mark (?) বহ্নস এবং question mark
(?) এর পর বড় হাহ্নির অক্ষর (capital letter) দ্বারা sentence শুরু েরহ্নি হয়। ছযমনঃ
He asked me, “When have you come? How have you come?”
(11) মহ্ননর আেতিে ভাব, আহ্নবগ, উচ্ছ্বাস প্রোি েরহ্নল exclamatory sign (!) বসাহ্নি হয়। ছযমনঃ
What a beautiful scenery it is! How nice the scenery is!
Oh! What a nice scenery. Bravo! We have won the match.
(12) And, but, or, nor, for, yet ইিযাতদ যখন দুতি independent clause ছে যুক্ত েহ্নর িখন এ িব্দগুহ্নলার পূহ্নবণ comma
(,) বহ্নস যতদ দুতি অংহ্নির subject তভন্ন তভন্ন হয়।
I have to keep my words, or they will be seriously offended.
They complained about many irregularities, but authority did not pay heed.
তেন্তু and, but, for, yet এেই subject ছে share েরহ্নল বা subject এেই হহ্নল comma বহ্নস না। ছযমনঃ

(13) োউহ্নে সরাসতর address েরা হহ্নল comma (,) তদহ্নয় আলাদা েরহ্নি হয় িা sentence এর ছযখাহ্ননই বসুে না ছেন।
ছযমনঃ

(14) ছোন singular noun এর possessive গঠন েরহ্নি হহ্নল apostrophe এবং s (’s) বহ্নস। ছযমনঃ

(15) ছয সেল plural noun এর ছিহ্নে s আহ্নে িাহ্নদর possessive েরহ্নি হহ্নল s এর তঠে উপহ্নর apostrophe (’) তদহ্নি হহ্নব।
Students’ gurdians were invited. (োেোেীহ্নদর অতভভাবেহ্নদরহ্নে দাওয়াি ছদওয়া হহ্নয়তেল) তেন্তু িব্দতি যতদ plural হয়
(children, people) িাহহ্নল ’s তদহ্নি হয়।

(16) Proper noun (হ্নয noun দ্বারা ছোন তনতদণষ্ট বযতক্ত ও স্থাহ্ননর নাম বুঝায়) sentence এর ছযখাহ্ননই বসুে না ছেন িা
capital letter (বড় হাহ্নির অক্ষহ্নর) তলখহ্নি হহ্নব। ছযমনঃ

(17) Comma, full-stop, question mark ( , . ? ) এই তিনতি ছিহ্নের quotation mark এর তভিহ্নর বহ্নস। ছযমন-

Want more Updates  http://tanbircox.blogspot.com Punctuation (যতি বা ছেদ তিহ্নের বযবহার) Punctuation বলহ্নি period ( . ? !), comma (,) semicolon (;) inverted comma (“ ”) ইিযাতদর বযবহারহ্নে বুঝায়। পরীক্ষায় সবহ্নিহ্নয় ছবতি বযবহৃি হয় এমন েহ্নয়েতি Punctuation তনহ্নয় আমরা এখাহ্নন আহ্নলািনা েরব। (1) Full stop (.) বহ্নস ছোন পূর্ণ বাহ্নেযর ছিহ্নে, ছোন তববৃতির (statement) ছিহ্নে, ছোন আহ্নদি (command) বা অনুহ্নরাহ্নের (request) ছিহ্নে। ছযমন- He is a man of strong personality. (statement) Do this work without delay. (command) Please do not do this work. (request) (2) ছোন বক্তার বক্তবয হুবহু িার ভাোয় প্রোি েরহ্নি inverted comma (“ ”) বযবহৃি হয়। ছযমনঃ (i) He said, “I am going to college.” (ii) The man said, “I went to college.
