Chapter 6 Listening and Note-Taking
1. When you have no interest in class material, how does it affect you, your behavior,
your grades, your connection with others, and your commitment?
- There are a lot of different reasons having no interest in class material can affect you.
First off, it affects your grades tremendously. Not knowing what’s going on in class
is a big negative. If a teacher gives you an assignment for homework, there is no
possible way for you to understand how to do it because you did not pay attention at
all in class. It not only will affect you with homework, it will also hurt you when you
take tests or exams for that class. Sometimes having no interest can lead to
depression for some students. You will not be able to recognize your listening skills
at all, you won’t be able to focus, and also you won’t be prepared for anything. Also
when comes to others in your class, say for instance, if there is a group assignment for
you to do and you have no interest, that will hurt you group you are badly. If you are
if a group, the other people that are in that group won’t be able to get that other mind
involved so that may slow down the process in whichever work assignment is given
out. So all in all, if you have no interest in class material, you have no commitment
either. If you signed up for school to do different classes, your commitment starts
there and must continue throughout the course of your semester. So no interest
means no commitment in my book.
