3. INTRODUCTION
• Blu-ray, also known as Blu-ray Disc (BD) is the name of a
next-generation optical disc format. The format was
developed to enable recording, rewriting and playback of
high-definition video (HD), as well as storing large
amounts of data.
• The format offers more than five times the storage capacity
of traditional DVDs and can hold up to 25GB on a single-
layer disc and 50GB on a dual-layer disc.

wavelength of 405 nm.

8. ADVANTAGE
• Record high-definition television (HDTV) without any
quality loss.
• Instantly skip to any spot on the disc.
• Record one program while watching another on the disc.
• Automatically search for an empty space on the disc .
9. DISADVANTAGE
• Very expensive technology
• You will need a 1080P TV to really see the difference
• Not widely used by the general public
10. FUTURE ASPECTS
•Blu-ray discs will definitely change the future of the video
industry
•The Blu-ray discs have won the battle against HD DVDs
and will continue to grow
•Eventually Replace the DVDs as the standard disc format
