will describe a plan to implement an ED fast track area (FTA) as one solution to improve patient flow

cultural tradition. While this definition suggests a black and white concept, ethnicity is often complex

ethnic identity at birth based on the culture they are born into. However, during puberty they often
begin to doubt/explore their identity and strive to discover what ethnic group they belong in and not
just the one they were assigned. This complex process has spurred psychologists to delve into the

culminated into a theory based on stages of ethnic development by Phinney Ong. This paper will

identity, the model in question is the Ethnic Identity Development model proposed by Phinney and

Salman Rushdie is a passionate novelist and essayist known for his magical realism, who expresses
his beliefs and influences through his works. Rushdie has frequently described himself as a historian
of ideas, and many of his novels are novels of ideas rather than narrations centered on a plot or
character. 1 Furthermore, Rushdie s pessimistic views of religion are seen in his writings, from The
Satanic Verses to recent essays like, Out of Kansas. I will also discuss the fatwa calling for his
assassination and resulting in him being put under police protection by the British government. To
begin, Rushdie was born into a Muslim family. Although Rushdie was a student of Islam, he claimed
to be a lapsed Muslim. Ultimately, he expressed that he did not believe in supernatural entities,
whether Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Hindu. Rushdie s outspoken work, The Satanic Verses caused
great controversy in the Islamic world because of what was seen by some to be an irreverent depiction
of Muhammad. Rushdie is the author of 11 novels, 4 books, shorts stories and many essays. In
addition, many of his books focus on the role of religion in society and the effect and conflict. Rushdie
believed, Religion, a medieval form of unreason, when combined with modern weaponry becomes a
real threat to our freedoms. 2 Also, Religion is a story, and it seems to me that a definition of any

The painting I chose was a painting of Chrysanthemums by Pablo Picasso. It is a very simple and
straightforward, yet captivating image. The way the petals on the flowers were painted are very
interesting, each of them were created with unique stroke of the brush. Picasso obviously wanted
viewers to focus only flowers as the foreground and background were left somewhat rugged and
undetailed. At first it may be hard to notice, however, it can be seen that the source of light for the

Global Warming is a huge problem for the environment. The earth s temperature has risen about 1
degree Fahrenheit since 1900 the temperatures are continuing to rise setting record temperature
(Biello). This image is a public service announcement to turn off lights because it is a cause to global
warming. In the image a penguin is pulling on a plug to turn out a light. This image evokes an
emotional response because it has a baby penguin looking scared behind its mom, while the ice they
are on is melting. It also illustrates a point that leaving lights on can cause global warming because it
states it in the text. The light shining on the penguins looks like it is melting the ice they are standing
on. I selected this image because it caught my eye and then made me read the text, which shows that it
is an effective PSA. I also think global warming is a problem and I did not know that leaving lights on
made such a big impact. This image can be analyzed by looking at the six rhetorical factors: character
and action, setting, point of view, use of color, special effects, and image presentation. First, the
characters and action in this advertisement make a large impact on this image. The penguins are
struggling and are fearful for their lives. The animal s facial expressions express how they are
distressed that the light is causing the ice they are standing on to melt. This displays how much of a
problem global warming is and how we should be more fearful of the impact it is making in the colder
climates. One sources states Specifically, more than two thirds of Antarctica s emperor penguin
colonies will decline by more than 50 percent by the end of the century under future climate change
scenarios (Palermo). This shows that global warming is truly hurting the penguins and many other
