We often use reported speech to:
•
1. Give someone a telephone message.
•
For example: Jessica said that she couldn’t come today
because she was sick.
•
2. Tell someone news that we heard from
someone else.
•
For example: Brittany told me that Anne graduated.
•
3. To report something that happened earlier.
•
For example: Camila said that the other driver ran the red
light and hit his car.
How Do we use Reported Speech?
•
When we use Reported Speech, we are
usually talking about something that
happened in The Past.
•
*Therefore, Verbs usually change to the
past.
