Fort Worth Essay
Drovers, people who herd large groups of cattle, heading up the Chisholm Trail toward the
railroads the final stop for any last minute supplies was Fort Worth, Texas. Beyond that you d
cross the Red River and into Indian Territory. During the years of 1866 and 1890, drovers herded
over four million head of cattle through Fort Worth. The city soon became known as Cowtown. As
the railroad arrived in 1876, Fort Worth developed into a shipping port for livestock, so the city
built up the Union Stockyards. Despite the Union Stockyards lacking the essential funding to buy
enough cattle to attract local ranchers, President Mike C. Hurley welcomed wealth Boston

The northern and southern site would be given to either company and decided by a coin toss. In
the end, Armour won the coin toss and chose the northern site; construction began in 1902. As
for the Swift Co. the southern site had a large gravel pit that was very useful for the construction
of their plant. They had such an abundance of gravel they even sold some of the gravel Armour
at the northern site. In that same year, construction on the pens, barns, and also the new Livestock
Exchange Building. The Livestock Exchange Building was home to many livestock companies,
telegraph and railroad offices, and many support businesses. With Ft. Worth booming for all its
latest success it was known as The Wall Street of the West. With a little background information
on the Stockyards, we can see the evolution of the city of Fort Worth from where it was back in
the 1860 s to now in 2017. The Stockyards were a valuable asset to the historical rise of Fort Worth
and growing attention it has and still receives. Today, without destroying the architectural integrity
of the original structure, The Fort Worth Stockyards offer visitors an exciting opportunity to
experience the Old West in an authentic but modern setting. Thousands of people flood the streets
to relive the real life cowboy days and take pride into keeping the Stockyards history rich and

Tannen And Sontag
Women have historically been seen as sex objects while men have been seen as success objects.
by Deborah Tannen s Marked Women and, A Woman s Beauty: Put Down or Power Source? by
Susan Sontag, The Men We Carry in Our Minds by Scott Russell Sanders, and Man Bashing:
Trivial Pursuits or a Truth with Consequences? by Warren Farrell discuss these two sides to gender
roles. While Sanders and Farrell make some quality points about men s struggle in society, overall,
Tannen and Sontag present a stronger argument about the challenges women face in today s society.
Tannen and Sontag argue that women are made to be sex objects by society; they are pressured to
try to look beautiful while also being degraded as superficial and inept. As Sontag ... Show more

Sander s essay focuses on his childhood when men were working in manual labor jobs for the
most part and women largely staying at home. This is not the case in today s society where
women are also expected to get jobs most of the time. In this way, the burden on men to bring in
the money has lessoned but women still face the pressure of being beautiful. Tannen exposes this
more current set of problems for women when she discusses the expectation that women look
presentable at work. She writes, The range of women s hairstyles is staggering, but a woman whose
hair has no particular style is perceived as not caring about how she looks, which can disqualify
her for many positions, and will subtly diminish her as a person in the eyes of some. Whereas
men do not have to think about their hairstyles and general appearance for work men s hair has
to be unusual to be marked and no makeup is unmarked for men women must consider how
much makeup and what hair do they will do. Every style for women is marked and not taking
the time to decide on a style marks a woman as not put together. Even the arguments that Farrell
brings up for what problems men face in today s society which are often invalid seem
inconsequential compared to the points Tannen and Sontag make about the daily struggles
women face. Farrell makes points such as the one that self help writers voice only women s side
of the argument about toilet seats being put down after men use the toilet. No one suggests
thanking the man for putting it up so he gets nothing on it. And no one asks why a woman
expects the toilet to always be as it is in women s rooms, and never as half the toilets are in men s
rooms: urinals, he debates. Practically, his idea that all

The Harm Caused by Bioterrorism
Micro/Diseases
Bioterrorism
Bioterrorism is purposefully releasing biological agent toxins to cause harm and terrorize people.
Bioterrorism was first thought of somewhere in the 1340 s, this was when diseased horse corpses
were catapulted over castle walls in France. Germ warfare was also used in the medieval times in
the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries; human bodies were infected with the plague and used as
ammunition in central Europe. During World War I Germany had attempted to infect the Allies
using anthrax through livestock, which they failed in doing. By Germany attempting this it caused
for Geneva Protocol, this is the restriction of chemical and biological weapons being used during
war. However, the first bioterrorismoccurred in the 1984 in the United States, members of the cult
ha sprinkled salmonella on salad bars around Wasco County. There were 750 cases of food
poisoning and another 45 cases of people being hospitalized. Many terrorist prefer to use
biological agents instead of any other weapon for a few reasons that are; they can easily get there
hands on them, they are inexpensive, it is hard to detect, they are easy to make and deliver.
Bioterrorism has been used and effective between countries for many years. It was first used in the
medieval times to end siege surrounding and attacking a town or building isolating people from
supplies and attempting to get a surrender from the inside. In 1340, a bunch of attackers hurdled
dead horses and other

Argumentative Essay On Do Aliens Exist
Is There Life Other Than Ours?
Have you ever seen a mysterious object floating amongst the sky and wondered just what it could
be? Did you ever consider that the being flying in those floating orbs could be of extraterrestrial
life? Aliens are a controversy among many, and there is such a vast amount of evidence of their
existence that it is difficult not to believe in them. The talk of another life form in our galaxy
seems impeccably unlikely to most. People who do not believe in aliens think that the mere thought
of them existing is inane. They could not care less about putting in the effort of proving their point
that otherworldly figures are not real. Also, many of them will stubbornly refuse even the slight
possibility of aliens. Even though there is a plethora of evidence, some people continue to disregard
the facts that aliens exist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
UFOs have been spotted by millions of people throughout the world for years. These odd floating
machines have been seen in a variety of different shapes and sizes. They have even been spotted
with flashing lights. UFOs are just the brink of evidence. UFOs are not the only piece of
documentation alien actuality has to offer. Victims of alien abductions intermittently have strange
markings or scars on their bodies. It is presumed that whenever extraterrestrials abduct them, they
perform tests and even further examine the human anatomy. Most of the time, abduction victims do
not remember what happened or how it even came to be. Aliens normally abduct someone and

Compensating Kidney Donors
Organ Donation: Legalizing Human Kidney Sales The process of organ donation has existed for
many years and throughout that time the system has endured controversies and changes. One of
those changes occurred in the late 1960s when the development of immunosuppressive drugs
made it possible for people to donate organs to patients who were not related to them (Fentiman
43). This discovery benefited many patients in need of a transplant, but also opened the door to
controversies such as organ sales. The first proposal to sell organs came from Virginia physician
Dr. H. Barry Jacobs in 1983. He suggested that whoever could afford to buy a kidneyshould be
allowed to do so. As a result of Dr. Jacobs s proposal, Congress banned the sale of... Show more

Ailing, rich patients are buying kidneys from the poor and desperate in burgeoning black markets.
Clandestine kidney sellers get little medical follow up, buyers often catch hepatitis or HIV, and
both endure the consequences of slap dash surgery ( Psst, Wanna . . . 15). This dangerous
alternative provides one example of why the current organ donation system needs to be revised.
Another example is that some patients pay to register with internet sites that try to help find
organ donors. One site, Matchingdonors.com, charges a lifetime fee of $595 (Postrel 124). Not
only do patients spend unnecessary amounts of money on these sites, many who find donors get
rejected by hospitals. Hospitals fear that strangers designating a recipient may receive some sort
of compensation for their donation (Postrel 124). The refusal of sick patients provides just
another reason why the current organ donation system needs to be altered. A new system that
provides kidney donors with compensation would correct many of the current system s problems,
and increase the donor pool. The new system would allow donors to sell their kidney at a set
price. Kidneys would go to recipients in the same way they do now; through the waiting list,
whether the patient is rich or poor. Compensation comes from the recipient s insurance, such as
Medicare. To insure the safety of the reciepient and donor, every donor would be medically and

sugar) levels are above normal ( Diabetes Basics, 2007). This can lead to a range of serious health
consequences, including vision loss, nerve damage and numbness, high blood pressure, kidney
disease, heart disease and death (DiNapoli, 2015). Diabetes is a growing epidemic in New York City
among all age group but has grown significantly over the years among adults especially African
American and other minority groups. In 2007, data report from the New York City Health
Department reported that diabetes was higher in NYC than in the U.S. overall (9.1% vs 7.5%).
(NYC health data).
The report concentrated on the 5 zip codes that make up Bedford Stuyvesant. The data was taken
from several secondary sources including CDC.
What should be:
The desire status or goal is to reduce the prevalence of diabetes among the adult population of
15% to about 5% in about 10 years. To reduce the number of New Yorkers with diabetes NYSDOH
has been working with other partners with the hope of reversing the epidemic.
Funding from CDC, allows the NYSDOH to support other organizations to develop and implement
a range of diabetes prevention and management activities in community and healthcare settings
(New York State s Approach to Diabetes. (2017, June).

War Dogs Movie Analysis
Bottom Feeders The film War Dogs (2016) tracks the rise and fall of two international arms
dealers. The movie starts with David, portrayed by Miles Teller, who is stuck as a masseuse
with no real opportunities in his life. His best friend from middle school, Efraim, portrayed by
Jonah Hill, returns to his life and gives him an offer he cannot refuse. Together they create a
small empire but end up getting in over their heads. This film shows the side of war that we
rarely see. It shows how much war is truly influenced by money, as well as showing who benefits
off the profits. Hint, it is not the soldiers. This directly ties into the American Dream.
Additionally, many aspects of the film help drive home this aspect of the American Dream.
Things like setting and music are huge in this. These aspects exaggerate points made in the
movie and add extra layers. The film addresses the American Dream by stating the reality that the
American Dream centers around money and power; the film does this by addressing the financial
side of war via music, setting, and characters. The music in this film included a lot of American
classics and was a key element. Songs like Fortunate Son by Creedance Clearwater Revival and
Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith are classic songs that every American knows and they were used
strategically throughout the film. For example, Fortunate Son was used as Efraim and David were
fleeing enemy fire in Fallujah. They brought the term gun runners new life when

The average American is exposed to 3,000 advertisements a day. These advertisements come from
the television, radio, news papers, billboard signs, and countless other ways. The advertisers use
different ways of attracting a consumer to buy their product. One of the strategies that the author
will use is called appeals, which uses ethos (ethics), pathos (feelings), and logos (logic). Some
people believe it is and will continue to destroy life and moral values in our nation. The rhetorical

The kids do not see before and after pictures of people who have smoked for years in the
magazines or commercials. The youth also think they will not get addicted. I also believe that
by the time most people are the age twenty they have decided whether or not they are going to
smoke or not. Kids see attractive people in movies and commercials smoking, or cartoon animals
smoking and they think it is cool. If a product, like cigarettes, will make kids feel like they fit in,
then they will do it even if the product will hurt them. This kind of audience, the youth, is very
vulnerable because they will do anything to get accepted by people.
The author for the audience of chewing tobacco is targeting young blue collar men ages eighteen
to around thirty. The ads are targeting the young men who work outside or like doing out door
activities. In this Copenhagen ad the quote next to the rider says I never walk when I can ride.
And I never ride without my cope. The ad has a younger man on a horse taking a dip and two

Osamu Tresemme Research Paper
Dwight Howard once stated; Today is a new day. Even if you were wrong yesterday, you can get it
right today. In life, one must take a glimpse of the world and do something that causes change. Even
though it may take time for creativity to reach you, you can still influence the world to make an
adjustment. Osamu Tezukawas a mangaartist who lived from 1928 1989. He was born in
Toyonaka, Japan ( Osamu Tezuka, 2010). Osamu Tezuka was known as The Father of Anime
and the
God of Manga. Although he did not invent manga or Japanese comics, he was able to show his
style with the United States, causing manga and anime to become popular. He created over
150,000 pages of manga and over 500 episodes of anime. Osamu s drawing style contributed to
making anime and manga successful all over the world.
Osamu Tezuka was known as the Father of Manga and The God of Anime. Although he did not

Designing The Data Collection Method For A Marketing...
While Market Researchers may not understand the complete environment in which the decision
maker operates, it is imperative that the Market Research address the real decision problem and
not simply a visible, but incorrect, aspect of it. A marketing research project can be viewed as a
series of steps that includes formulating the problem, determining the researchdesign, designing the
data collection method, designing the forms, designing the samples, collecting data, analyzing and
interpreting the samples, analyzing and interpreting the data and preparing and finalizing research
reports. When the problem is formulated correctly research can provide important information
including specifying the objectives of the research project. When formulating the problem the first
role that market researchers take is finding the problem that is to be solved.

Jacques D Arc And His Wife Isabelle
Joan of Arc Jacques d Arc and his wife Isabelle were blessed with a baby girl early in the year
1412. They named her Jeanne d Arc, also known as Joan of Arc. They lived in a village called
Domremy on the border of eastern France. During the time of Joan s birth, the French and English
had a truce. But events coming soon, will determine the life and death of Joan of Arc. An internal
war had erupted between two factions of the French Royal family which in turn, would make it
easier for the English to invade once again. One side of the faction was called the Orleanist or
Armagnac faction which was led by Count Bernard VII and Duke Charles of Orleans. Their rivals
were known as the Burgundians who were led by Duke John the fearless of Burgundy. While the
French remained divided due to their factions at war, the diplomats failed to extend the treaty with
England that was in place. In August of 1415, King Henry V invaded Franceand then defeated an
Armagnac dominated French army battle of Agincourt on October 25th. In 1417, the English
returned, conquering most of northern France and gaining the support of the Burgundian Duke,
Philip II. Philip II had agreed to recognize Henry V as the legal heir to the French throne, yet
rejected the rival claim of Charles of Ponthieu, which was the last heir of the Valois dynasty that

Essay on Nasser and the United States
In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in a bloodless
coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council
(RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a
mere figurehead and in a little over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency.
Although the goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a
policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It was the latter
goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially Great Britain and to a lesser
extent France, but eventually the United States. As such, Nasser s commitment... Show more content

Accordingly, the United States, in the midst of their conflict in Korea, could not have been more
pleased. As Great Britain s power in the Middle East was waning, the contest between the United
States and the Soviet Union increased in order to fill the vacuum of power left by the slowly
vacating British. Immediately upon seizing power, the RCC showed a willingness to brutally
suppress domestic communist activities. According to Yaqub: The Truman administration was
enthusiastic about the new regime...The new government expressed a desire for friendly relations
with the United States and cracked down on communist activists who had taken part in the anti
British disturbances, prompting Moscow to denounce the regime as reactionary.
The revolutionary regime in Egypt appeared to fulfill US aspirations in the Middle East in a
sense that it was sufficiently opposed to communism and at the same time appeared to have
generated popular sympathy. When in the fall of 1954 Nasser stated his willingness to align with
the west while seeing the USSR as the only real threat to Egypt s independence, the United States
responded by providing propaganda for Nasser s regime in Egypt and the Arab world. The
appearance of solidarity, however, was soon to be tested.

Beaten by a Hair
Introduction
The case I chose to write on is based on a DVD that we watched in class called Beaten by a hair .
In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home.
After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to
the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on
their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the
woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators
had to find out who left the house that morning. I am interested in this case because it was very

294). This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also
after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron
from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the
solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the
reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed
sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work
that day or leave the house.
Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called
amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it
makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace
evidence, and fibers that may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the
officers because they could not find any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed
an ultraviolet light test which was used to reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine,
semen, or saliva. The ultraviolet test is usually done before using chemicals such as luminol to see
if there are any fibers to be found and used first. However the officers were not able to find
anything, but this method was useful to them because they could not find any evidence to prove that

Marcus Aurelius And Stoicism
After the death of Aristotle, philosophy that targeted greater complex depths was outrun by
philosophy that focused on mere everyday lives. With the rise and fall of Skepticism, Cynicism,
and Epicureanism there was an influence that survived years impacting life and that was Stoicism.
Zeno of Citium who believed that the world had an ultimate plan and everything including nature,
animals, and humans, were there for a reason (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014, p. 66). The reason
Stoicism was easily used is because it was well suited with the way Romans highlighted their law
and order giving the extensive coverage displayed by many philosophers, including Marcus Aurelius
. Marcus Aurelius, was born in 121 C.E. Growing up his focus of education was overseen by
Emperor Hadrian and soon taken over by Emperor Antonius teaching him more of a rhetoric
(Sellars, 2002). As the years progressed he shifted in to a study of philosophy leading to him
becoming what we know as one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Marcus Aurelius
became an emperor in A.D. 160 lasting to A.D.180. he was working closely with Lucius Verus in
169 and his son Commodus in 177 (Crook, 2017). Marcus Aurelius later passed away in A.D. 180,
yet his most personal literature is still read today, Meditations. Marcus Aurelius and his
philosophies were composed down in a collection of his intimate writings titled Meditations. The

Rice Paddies And Bologn Malcom Gladwell s Broad...
Rice Paddies and Bologna: Gladwell s Broad Generalizations of Success
In Malcom Gladwell s Outliers, Gladwell defines success as hidden advantages and social
predestination as stated by critic Michiko Kakutani. Kakutani argues that Gladwell s hypotheses are
not cohesive and are selective to support his idea. I concur with Kakutani. Gladwell does not
provide adequate examples and counterarguments to give his theory a concrete foundation. This
creates a very unconvincing argument. Gladwell asserts that success comes from factors and
advantages that are mostly overlooked such as birth dates and cultural backgrounds; however, his
ideas are loosely based, overly generalized, and unreliable.
Now, with technology advancing at the same rate as society matures and changes, success is a
concept that can be different to many different groups of people. Gladwell insists that success is
formulated through a series of hidden advantages and cultural legacies that are fixed, therefore that
s why many do not become successful. I simply do not feel that is the case. Success is achieved
through ambition and hard work that is instilled in you. Anyone has the power to take matters into
their own hands and create their own success.
Gladwell used many anecdotes and stories to push his hypotheses. An example would be the two
chapters titled The Trouble with Geniuses Part One and The Trouble With Geniuses Part Two . In
these chapters, Gladwell introduces Chris Langan, a man with an IQ higher

Rhetorical Analysis Of Daniel
CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS
The book of Daniel is one about hope and unshakeable faith in God. Daniel is one of the greatest
examples of a God fearing man who did everything in his power to prove his love and loyalty for
his Savior. The main theme of the book of Daniel is God s sovereignty over history and empires,
in which He appoints and dethrones rulers as He pleases.1 This is an allusion to the fact that
worldly kingdoms will come and go, but the Lord s Kingdom will never pass away. Several
chapters throughout the book of Daniel deal with this concept. The book is named after the writer
and main character, written in the sixth century B.C., to record the events of his life and the
visions that he saw from the time of his exile to the third year of King Cyrus.2
The passage which is being studied is found in Daniel 3:8 30 which is the story of the fiery
furnace. Before one can examine this passage of Scripture, it is imperative that one understands the
events that took place before the action to fully understand the story. Refer the outline for the first
three chapters of Daniel for further explanation.

The Marketing Strategy Of The Coca Cola
The Coca Cola Company is one of the largest in the world and the Coke logo is one of the most
widely recognized icons in the world. The company used many different marketing campaigns
in the years since the company has been created, some being more successful than others. Two
such commercials, the Hilltop commercial and the Taylor Swift commercial, both differ in the
approaches but are still both successful in their approaches. The first was first aired in nineteen
seventy one while the second was first aired in twenty fourteen. I think that the Taylor Swift
commercial is more successful than the Hilltop commercial because it better addresses its more
specific audience. The Hilltop commercial s strategy is to sell the brand of Coca Cola to the
world. The commercial starts of showing just the face of a young, blonde woman singing. The
camera begins to pan out, revealing that there are multiple people all on the top of a lush
hillside. They all join in the singing as the camera pans over more and more people of different
racial and cultural backgrounds, each holding a Coke bottle in their right hand. The Coke bottles
all have labels written in different languages. They all sing, I d like to buy the world a Coke, and
keep it company, and It s the real thing. As they continue singing, the camera zooms out showing
about two hundred young people on the hillside arranged like a chorus. The purpose of this
commercial is to sell the Coca Cola brand, rather than a specific

The Visit by Friedrich Durrenmatt
Friedrich Durrenmatt, like Samuel Beckett, became a prominent writer that wrote about human
nature after World War II. The Visit, for instance, is about an impoverished town that is in need
of money. The town realizes on Ill, who is a main character, to call a friend and ask for a favor,
and he does. Claire, Ill s friend, places an ironic twist on the requirement in order to get the
money, which is someone must kill Ill, but by the end of the play someone does kill Ill. In
general, the play depicts the idea that it is human nature to do anything in order to survive. Due
to Friedrich Durrenmatt s various techniques when writing the play, the reader gets a town
comparable to Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Friedrich Durrenmatt s techniques were
used to foreshadow the play and to depict the condition and choices of Germany before and
during World War II from a logical view. For example, the black panther, which is one of the
most profound symbols throughout the play, is Claire s pet. She brings it with her to Guellen in
a cage. The panther is the symbolic foreshadow of Ill s life in this play, and Claire refers to Ill
several times by the nickname black panther . The butler proclaims, The black panther escaped,
Madam. (58) The black panther escapes around the same time she offers the million dollar. Like
the black panther, Ill is trying to escape Guellen before someone kills him, which is similar to
Jews trying to escape Germany during the 1930s before Hitler s

The Story behind Diamonds
Diamonds are one of the most popular minerals in the world and yet people are not aware of the
circumstances it takes to acquire this such unique mineral. Many people would agree when I say
that this mineral is such a nice thing to look at, but few people actually know what it is made of
and how it was formed. These precious minerals are composed of Carbon. The process to making
this immaculate mineral is as following. First, you must bury Carbon dioxide deep into the earth;
approximately, 100 miles deep. Second, you must heat the substance at a temperature of 2,200
degrees fahrenheit. Next, squeeze or tightly compact the substance under pressure of 725,000
pounds per square inch. Finally, it must quickly rush to the earths surface to cool off. All this must
be done just to create diamond. Luckily for some men, scientist have created an alternative of the
mined diamonds, it is a synthetic diamond composed of the same things and look almost
identical. So if you re planning to pop the big question soon you have options with that part of the
proposal. When you think of the price of real diamonds you might think that they are pretty
expensive and what makes them so special. Along with its looks, it is a rare mineral that still has a
high demand. The places where you can find high concentrations are usually far away. As a matter
of fact, the location that has the largest concentration of diamonds is in central and southern Africa.
It is reported that they have 49% of

Introduction
When Thomas Schmall became CEO of Volkswagen do Brazil (VWB) in 2007, the company was

It was comprehensive and clear. The strategy map, with its four dimensions, clearly defines the
cause and effect relations and how the intangible assets (employees) can get converted into tangible
financial results. Each dimensions objectives had defined metrics associated with them to illustrate
what is necessary to overcome the challenge. The Balanced Scorecard was the perfect tool to
measure, monitor and define these outcomes. Along with the Balanced Scorecard was a matrix that
listed each objective and with a set of actions that was assigned to the appropriate business unit that
was responsible for monitoring and achieving their targets. This helped with implementation
because there wasn t any question as to who the champion would be assigned to a particular
objective. It allowed ownership, and with the CEO leading this transformation program and being
supported by top management, it helped with buy in from the employees.
What are the strengths and weaknesses of the scorecard and its implementation?
There is no doubt that a Balanced Scorecard is a great management tool to restructure a company s
culture and formulate an aggressive strategy. Yet, it has its weaknesses. Implementation into an
existing operation is very time consuming and involves a lot of man hours to formulate a plan so
everyone understands how the tool works. Initially, when the Schmall presented Act to Win , to the
executives, that had to go through a two

A Comparative Analysis Of Fasting, Feasting By Anita Desai
Though the novel ends in facilely compromising way of Sita s returning with her husband and
children to the dull and disgusting Bombay life, she doesn t make any attempt to liberate herself
from the shell of psychic paralysis and resigns herself passively to the inanimate and insipid life of
Bombay which in reality is a limbo of death in life.
In Fasting, Feasting, Anita Desai uses light touch, simple language, uncomplicated structure, but at
the same time addresses some very big issues and makes a point. In this novel Uma and Arun are
children of Mamapapa, the apparently indivisible common identity that parents present. These
parents, however, are not at all alike. Mama is protective, perhaps selfish, and not a little indolent.
Papa is a parsimonious control freak who locks away the telephone because someone might use it.
But they are at least together. Their relationship has survived, despite the long wait for a son, and
their disappointment at his disability. Fasting, Feasting presents apparent opposites, two
contrasting, if imbalanced scenarios, India and the USA. It offers two deformed observers, Uma
and Arun. It unpicks two contrasting cultures and finds that women are slaves in both. The
opposites are thus ultimately similar, hardly opposed.

Literary Analysis Of Romeo And Juliet
Formal Literary Analysis Romeo and Juliet To be wronged is nothing, unless you continue to
remember it. In Romeo and juliet by Shakespeare we see two households being torn apart by an
ancient grudge, but is almost resolved due to Romeo, a Montague and Juliet, a Capulet.
Shakespeare uses the destructive nature of holding grudges in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot
of the story, and and to also further character development. Shakespeare uses the destructive nature
of holding grudges in Romeo and Juliet to further the plot and character development. Early in the

Comparing Practices Of Looking And The Innocent Eye Test
The division between realism and abstraction is not as clear as we might first believe. Within The
Practices of Looking, Sturken and Cartwright examine the relationship between perspective and
realism. In addition to explaining how perspective is important in replicating reality within art
and video games. The example given to illustrate this perspective in Practices of Looking is a
painting from Mark Tansey, called The Innocent Eye Test. The painting is a critique of the form of
realism and depicts a cow stood in front of men in lab coats, staring at an artists realist painting of a
cow. Tansey does this to show that the narratives never actually occurred. Realism within art
ultimately provides a difficult question to the audience, what

Cultural Characteristics Of The Hispanic And Latin...
Culture is a learned system of knowledge, behaviors, attitudes, beliefs, values, and norms that is
shared by a group of people. (71) People learn their culture by those that raise them and by those
that they grow up with, I belong to only one culture which is the Hispanic/Latino Culture. Hispanics
are often defined as people from any country that is spanish speaker in Latin America. Us hispanics
and Latin Americans come from diverse social, economic, and geographic backgrounds making us
all different depending on our family heritage and national origin. However, there s some cultural
similarities that tend to bring our diverse backgrounds together. One of the most common cultural
characteristics of Hispanic and Latin American culture is the spanish language. Hispanic families
often teach their children spanish as a way of passing down their heritage and culture, this is
what has helped revive the spanish language around the globe. Food is also one of the most
common cultural characteristics in the hispanic/latino culture like tortillas, tamales, tacos and
salsa. Parties are also one of the most common characteristics, everyone knows hispanics like to
party a lot like my family if it s someone s birthday on tuesday we ll cook invite everyone to just
have a small celebration but and at the end it turns out into a big party even though we already
have one plan for saturday to actually celebrate it. My family like most Hispanics and Latin
Americans value family, it is not uncommon for us to have three generations to live in the same
household or nearby each other. Like my family, I live with my great grandma, grandma, my
mom, my uncles, my aunt and my little brother, I also have my cousins living in the next street,
which is what I like because they just come over and it s like a family gathering every weekend.
Sometimes we do get annoyed because we see each other all the time but I don t regret having
this type of family. From what I experience with my non hispanic friends is that sometimes there
s no one in their house and it s just quiet and lonely compare to my house, a lot of my non hispanic
friends like to be at my house because of how loud and crazy it gets. I describe my culture as a low

The Heavy Burden Pertaining To Racism Summary
487 The Heavy Burden Pertaining to Racism The concept and debate regarding racial equality
within this society varies cross culturally. There is indeed a heavy burden and a discrepancy with
regards to racism, stemming from a lack of education, towards a lack of opportunities, which leads
to oppression. While Tricia Rose explores how the educational system is under representative when
it comes to minorities and the oppressed, BeyoncГ© took a bold political statement while
juxtaposing her views towards the radical Black Panther movement.
First, Tricia Rose explores the onset of educational equality within this unequal system. She sheds
light on the misconception that wealthy individuals are worthy and have received their knowledge
as well as money in a just way. Conversely, the poor, unprivileged individuals have not obtained just
rewards, where the educational system has created an unnecessary burden for students. This can be
exemplified by the fact that students obtaining an education already have their future carved out. For
instance, while a white affluent individual will have more opportunities pertaining to attaining a
better education and higher grades, a poor African American will not have the same... Show more

While Tricia Rose s speech on educational equality is quite realistic, BeyoncГ© created an
ineffective radical approach to spark violence. The educational system, particularly public schools
should increase their standards in order to provide seamless and equal opportunities to individuals
of all races and demographics. Notwithstanding, powerful individuals such as BeyoncГ© should not
take advantage of sports events in order to attract 100 million viewers with wrongful exposure,
creating unnecessary politically charged ideas. Our society is pervasive with inequality, and it is up

The Facade of Tattoos
In quot;Parker s Back quot; by Flannery O Connor, the tattoos O.E. Parker receives are crucial to

Parker s obsession with tattoos begins when he is fourteen and sees a circus performer tattooed
from head to foot. O Connor emphasizes rather heavily...the turning point the experience at the
county fair representing Parker s destiny...the reader is clearly programmed to see it not only as
the beginning of a new life of unease and unrest, but also as a prefiguration of Parker s later
conversion (Bleikasten p368). Parker had never before felt the least motion of wonder in himself.
Until he saw the man at the fair, it did not enter his head that there was anything out of the ordinary
about the fact that he existed...but a peculiar unease settled in him. It was as if a blind boy had
been turned so gently in a different direction that he did not know his destination had been changed.
This first tattoo of the eagle symbolizes pride, freedom, and power for Parker; he appears very

When you think about social work, you come to mind of professionals stepping in to help

A polymer is made up of many small molecules, which combine to form a single long or large
molecule. The individual tiny molecules from which the polymer is formed are known as
monomers (meaning, single part) and the process by which the monomer molecules are linked to
form a big polymer molecule is called polymerization. The small molecules, which combine to
form a big molecule, can be of one or more chemical compounds. Polymercrystals are never
perfectly ordered, therefore they rarely experience sharp diffraction peaks like inorganic crystals.
Polymers form ordered structures that are unlike the perfect crystals formed by atomic and
molecular solids. Due to the constraints imposed by covalent intrachain bonding, weak... Show

However, at this time the synthetic routes only produced black powders and much of this early
work was discarded. In 1958, the first polymerisation of acetylene was carried out by Natta and co

work of MacDiarmid and co workers [7]. They successfully proved that polyacetylene, can be made
conductive by reaction with iodine or bromine vapors. The spectroscopic studies discovered that
this reaction is redox. Such reactions transform neutral polymer chains into polycarbocations and

Victor Vernick Honors English Mr. Kupersmith 29, May 2018 Are Petruchio and Kate a match
made in heaven? To all the married men in this world, does it ever occur in your mind if your
significant other still belongs in your life? While that might be a question for some, we all know
that Kate and Petruchio make a great couple. But, one might ask, isn t it true that Kate and
Petruchio would not make a good couple because they argue with one another often. This may
convince some people; however, it does not address all the facts. In William Shakespeare s,
Taming of the Shrew, Kate and Petruchio are a perfect match because of their similar personalities.
Petruchio and Kate are very much alike in the way that they are honest about everything. In Act 2

would give the appearance that Kate and Petruchio might not be a good match because, in that
scene, they have only just met and are instantly being aggressive towards one another by trading
insults. In Act 4 Scene 5, Petruchio and Kate are on their way back to Baptista s home. Petruchio

learning about the Clarkson School and my new goal was to become a better student. That being
said, I continued to struggle due to a home life that,at times, affected my ability to maintain my
focus and motivation. I registered for advanced placement classes and began to work harder in

class. But not me; I endured to the end with just one other student.

Pericles Funeral Oration Speech Summary
Pericles (495 429 BCE) whose name means Surrounded by glory was a young influential Greek
aristocrat who was more than just a ruler of Athens: He was a politician, a prominent statesman
(with influences in Art), a General (in Greek Strategoi ) with significant leadership capabilities and
an influential figure that played a crucial role in inspiring not only the people of Athens through all
his endeavors but generations to come with his inspiring funeral oration speech for the dead
Athenians who fought in battle. His speech, which was told by Thucydides who referred to Pericles
as the first citizen of Athens , honored the dead, rallied the troops, glorified Athenians, and gave
voice to Athens democratic value. Pericles oration speech would later become famous and
contribute to the meaning behind Democracy.
Pericles family s prestige, wealth, and nobility allowed him to follow his preferences toward
education, philosophy and art while in his youth. Pericles promoted the arts, literature, and
philosophy. He saw the importance and value in education, philosophy and the arts and could see
how they would eventually help Athens blossom as a center of education, art, culture, and

Macy and Problems
I picked Macy s for my company it was founded in 1843 and 1855 the original Macy s store is in
Haverhill, Massachusetts, by Rowland Hussey Macy, Sr. They deal in high quality Clothing,
footwear, accessories, bedding, furniture, jewelry, beauty products, and housewares. Macy s has
a couple issues, but the biggest one is the dependence on the US economy for its revenue
generation, while a few of their competitors, such as The Gap and Wal Mart Stores get a lot of
their revenue from other countries, also a lot of customers are not really buying a lot of items in
the malls and are doing a lot of internet shopping for Christmas. The use of research would really
help Macy s if they researched better ways to attract people through the web by either using
surveys, or researching about how some of their competitors can stay ahead in the industry. Also,
another good thing would be to research some different countries to see if they can ... Show more

Essay on The Hacker Community
Hackers are typically defined as individuals that gain unauthorized access to another person s
computer. Although that definition is rather specific it can be broadened to include other illegal
activities such as phishing , which can be done on its own and may be separate from hacking. The
hacker community is what is contended to be an imagined community meaning they occupy no
singular geographic location, like members of a community like Rosedale, nor have they have any
set guidelines for becoming a computer hacker. The hackercommunity is highly fluid, with
members leaving and others taking their places all the time. Most hackers tend to either form close
connections with just a few other community members or formalize groups and... Show more

Hackers are given more of a free pass than other deviant communities are from society because of
the high level anonymity in the community, their motivations are claimed to be honourable, and the
high amount permeability of computer culture into the mainstream normalizes their behaviour.
Anonymity and Secrecy
Anonymity is a defining characteristic of the internet, but, the understanding of the word is
different for the hacker community than it is for the general public, as it if often closely tied to
the notion of secrecy. Even though these two words are so closely related they remain distinct
from one another. For example, one can choose never to identify themselves, instead opting to
remain totally anonymous in the truest sense of the word. Fox news did a report on such a
group actually named Anonymous where none of the hackers use screen handles, instead
loosely organizing themselves on a message board. However it would seem that the majority of
hackers choose to identify themselves via a handle. The word handle basically refers to what
most would think of as a screen name or user name which allows the hacker to be easily
indentified by members of the community. Furthermore, the use of a handle, or screen name,
allows that hacker to take credit for their deeds online while keeping their real life separate. A
disadvantage to using screen names, as pointed out in Jordan and Taylor s article, is that a single
individual may have

Analysis Of The Article Propaganda Techniques On Today...
Why does the majority of American consumers fall prey to the propaganda of advertisements,
which subconsciously tricks them into believing outrageous claims? To answer this question, we
must first understand: what does advertising means, and how these advertiser companies use
propaganda to seduce us follow their tricks. Advertisingis the act of presenting an idea or product to
consumers or audience by using television, radios, social media, or street posters. In the article
PropagandaTechniques in Today s advertising, Ann McClintock describes different types
advertising techniques in her essay that are used currently by the advertisers and by the politicians.
The most efficient and useful propaganda that are used by contemporary advertising companies and
politicians are glittering generalities and bandwagon.
Nowadays most politicians are using false messages that are deeply attached to our feelings, but it
really does not mean anything. One of the most common propaganda that politicians use is
glittering generality. In this propaganda technique; they use emotional phrases to attract their
audience. In the article Propaganda techniques in Today s Advertising the author gives an example
of how politicians use glittering generalities in their campaigns Vote for the future [of our country]
(McClintock 698). Allows politicians to get their audiences to think about the future. Thoughts
about the future are universally terrifying for humans, which result in emotional

Listeriosis
Listeriosis is a serious invasive disease that predominantly affects pregnant women, newborns and
immunocompromised adults. The causative organism, Listeria monocytogenes, is primarily
transmitted to humans through contaminated foods. Outbreaks of listeriosis have been reported
throughout the globe, most notably in North America, Europe and Japan.
The public health importance of listeriosis is not adequately recognized, especially since
listeriosis is a relatively rare disease compared with other common foodborne illnesses such as
salmonellosis or botulism. However, due to its severity and high case fatality rate, listeriosis ranks
among the most frequent causes of death due to foodborne illness second after salmonellosis.

The standout outbreak of listeriosis in the United States occurred in 2011, which was traced back to
contaminated cantaloupes that resulted in 142 hospitalizations and 33 deaths. From August 2008 to
December 2008, 22 people died in the 2008 Canadian listeriosis outbreak.
A wide range of food products have been associated with the transmission of listeriosis, primarily
milk and dairy products, meat products (cooked chicken, pate, rillettes, sausages, salami),
vegetables (coleslaw and rice salads, celery, alfalfa) and, in a lesser degree, fish products (smoked
fish, shellfish, shrimp). Generally, these foods have extended shelf life, do not require further
cooking and support the growth of the bacterium.
Listeria monocytogenes most frequently associated with listeriosis cases belong to serotypes 1/2a,
1/2b, and 4b. Epidemiological monitoring studies employ different genotyping techniques, with
pulse field gel electrophoresis (PFGE) as the golden standard due to its discrimination and
reproducibility for molecular sub typing of this

Effects Of Morality And Morality
Memory Effects on Ethics and Morality
Introduction
Memory is one of the essential components of a human being. It affects almost all the aspects
human behavior. Ethics and morality are part of two contemporary factors that affect the human
memory and the subsequent actions in the social domain. It seems that people have lowered
morals in the phase of everyday challenges such that ethical dealings are viewed as a typical
mountain in most situations. In most sectors of the public operation, you find that most of the
problems that are presented there or are linked to lack proper ethics and morality. Well as the action
of the population says that morality is relative and not absolute, I always believe that that there
should be a bar of reference. Additionally, the reason why I considered the topic is due to the
divergent discussion that comes with it in any given forum of discussion. The most critical epithet
in the topic is its need of reinforcement into the society. Talking about this topic will open avenues
for more vibrant and genuine views on the topic. For this paper, I will analyze two articles on
morality and ethics from the psychology today website.

Analysis Of The Accidental Billionaires By Aaron...
The Social Network reveals an ironic story of a computer genius who creates a global social
networking website that now benefits over 5 million users, while he is alone in the end because of
his cynical, unsympathetic and egocentric personality and behavior. The Social Network is a
compelling movie and the movie makers had done a magnificent job using sophisticated
cinematography, editing, sound and lighting techniques to attract their audience s attention and
affection throughout the whole movie. In addition, they clearly appealed to pathos, ethos and logos
to persuade their audience to perceive Mark Zuckerbergs negative personality traits. The film is
directed by David Fincher, and the screenplay is written by Aaron Sorkin and adapted from The
Accidental Billionaires written by Ben Mezrich. The story portrays the creation of Facebook by the
founder, Mark Zuckerberg, in his early twenties, and begins when he was the sophomore at Harvard
University.
In October 2003, after Zuckerberg broke up with his girlfriend, Erica Albright, he was so angry
and created a website known as Facemash to allow male viewers to rate female students based on
their attractiveness. The university s network was crashed due to an enormous amount of traffic to
the site, and Zuckerberg was penalized because of his willful misconduct. The popularity of his
Facemash appealed to his schoolmates, Cameron and Tyler Winklevoss, and Divya Narendra to
engage him for programing their ideas of Harvard

In Debenhams Annual Report it is stated that Debenhams meet the regulation of recycling.
Pollution in the UK is a serious factor which the government is aiming to reduce, therefore
government introduced the regulation which is reducing and planning to set recycling law. Due to

Chemical Reactions And Functions Of The Chemistry
Nuclear chemistry is the study of the reactions and functions of the chemistry uses of the nucleus.
The nucleus contains two types of components called the nucleons, which consist of the proton and
neutron. The mass number of an atom is defined by the sum of the protons and neutrons; the atomic
number of an atom is defined by the number of protons only. Atoms which have different mass
numbers but have the same atomic number are referred as isotopes, for example carbon 12, 13, and
14.Nucleus with special numbers of the neutronand protons are referred as nuclides. Radio nuclides
are usually unstable and it continuously emits particles as well as emits the electromagnetic
radiation. Emission is the process of the unstable nucleus to undergo and become stable, this way it
reduces the cost of the energy. For example the Uranium 238,which decays into an alpha particle
(Helium nucleus) and a nucleon (Thorium 234). When the Uranium 238 decays it decomposed at
the same time, this process can be also called as alpha decayed. The equation for that is:238U92
234Th90 + 4He2 + Gamma rays.
There are three types of radioactive decay; alpha, beta and gamma radiation. The alpha radiation
includes a stream of the Helium 4nuclei; beta radiation has higher speed electrons when emitting
from unstable nucleus and normally has a negative charge(positron is the opposite side of the beta
decay); gamma radiation has not much altering ability on the mass on either atomic or mass
number thus it

Discrimination Can Affect Anyone Anywhere Essay
Discrimination can affect anyone anywhere. Major focus points of discrimination are based off
race, gender, or sexuality. However, there is a form of discrimination that is often invisible to the
public eye and did not even have a proper name until 1981 (FWD Forward). This form of
discrimination affects many Americans everyday. This type of discriminationis known as ableism.
Ableism is defined as the discrimination of disabled people in favor of able bodied people.
Ableism is not as noticed or as mainstream as other forms of discrimination. Fifty four million
Americans currently have some form of disability, yet the discrimination towards the disabled
community is still out of focus in many aspects (HRFnd). While the United Statesof America has
come a long with shaping civil rights for the disabled people, the country still has a long way to
go. Issues that disabled people struggle with today include, unemployment, social isolation, and
stereotypes that demean the disabled population. These are all issues that should have been
addressed and resolved back when laws such as the Americans with Disabilities Act passed in the
United States back in 1990 by the George H. Bush Administration. However, these issues have not
been resolved and ableism is still a huge issue in the United States that needs to be solved. The
disabled community is still fighting battles that should have ended a long time ago. With more
consideration though, society could put an end to

Romanticism In The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
1.The strange weather This is an element of nature as often used in romanticism. The weather is
being personified, as the Mariner says: Again, nature is seen as a powerful and threatening thing. It
s also definitely a character in the story along with the Mariner and the other people on the ship.
Nature is kind of a person in this thing. 2.The albatrossWhere nature is described as a powerful an
threatening thing when talking about the weather the opposite happens for the albatross. The
albatross is seen as a good omen. When it appears the ship breaks free and things are looking up.

It s where the supernatural comes in. As the ship gets closer, they realize it s a ghost ship. This is a

some sort of trance. They argue about whether or not the Mariner deserves to be rescued and one
of the spirits remarks that: This later is confirmed by the Mariner when we learn why he

Beyond that you d cross the Red River and into Indian Territory. During the years of 1866 and 1890, drovers herded over four million head of cattle through Fort Worth. The city soon became known as Cowtown. As the railroad arrived in 1876, Fort Worth developed into a shipping port for livestock, so the city built up the Union Stockyards. Despite the Union Stockyards lacking the essential funding to buy enough cattle to attract local ranchers, President Mike C. As for the Swift Co. the southern site had a large gravel pit that was very useful for the construction of their plant. They had such an abundance of gravel they even sold some of the gravel Armour at the northern site. In that same year, construction on the pens, barns, and also the new Livestock Exchange Building. Today, without destroying the architectural integrity of the original structure, The Fort Worth Stockyards offer visitors an exciting opportunity to experience the Old West in an authentic but modern setting. • 3. Tannen And Sontag Women have historically been seen as sex objects while men have been seen as success objects. by Deborah Tannen s Marked Women and, A Woman s Beauty: Put Down or Power Source? by Susan Sontag, The Men We Carry in Our Minds by Scott Russell Sanders, and Man Bashing: Trivial Pursuits or a Truth with Consequences? by Warren Farrell discuss these two sides to gender roles. While Sanders and Farrell make some quality points about men s struggle in society, overall, Tannen and Sontag present a stronger argument about the challenges women face in today s society. Tannen and Sontag argue that women are made to be sex objects by society; they are pressured to try to look beautiful while also being degraded as superficial and inept. As Sontag ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sander s essay focuses on his childhood when men were working in manual labor jobs for the most part and women largely staying at home. This is not the case in today s society where women are also expected to get jobs most of the time. In this way, the burden on men to bring in the money has lessoned but women still face the pressure of being beautiful. Tannen exposes this more current set of problems for women when she discusses the expectation that women look presentable at work. She writes, The range of women s hairstyles is staggering, but a woman whose hair has no particular style is perceived as not caring about how she looks, which can disqualify her for many positions, and will subtly diminish her as a person in the eyes of some. Whereas men do not have to think about their hairstyles and general appearance for work men s hair has to be unusual to be marked and no makeup is unmarked for men women must consider how much makeup and what hair do they will do. Every style for women is marked and not taking the time to decide on a style marks a woman as not put together. Even the arguments that Farrell brings up for what problems men face in today s society which are often invalid seem inconsequential compared to the points Tannen and Sontag make about the daily struggles women face. Farrell makes points such as the one that self help writers voice only women s side of the argument about toilet seats being put down after men use the toilet. No one suggests thanking the man for putting it up so he gets nothing on it. And no one asks why a woman expects the toilet to always be as it is in women s rooms, and never as half the toilets are in men s rooms: urinals, he debates. Practically, his idea that all ... • 4. The Harm Caused by Bioterrorism Micro/Diseases Bioterrorism Bioterrorism is purposefully releasing biological agent toxins to cause harm and terrorize people. Bioterrorism was first thought of somewhere in the 1340 s, this was when diseased horse corpses were catapulted over castle walls in France. Germ warfare was also used in the medieval times in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries; human bodies were infected with the plague and used as ammunition in central Europe. During World War I Germany had attempted to infect the Allies using anthrax through livestock, which they failed in doing. By Germany attempting this it caused for Geneva Protocol, this is the restriction of chemical and biological weapons being used during war. However, the first bioterrorismoccurred in the 1984 in the United States, members of the cult ha sprinkled salmonella on salad bars around Wasco County. There were 750 cases of food poisoning and another 45 cases of people being hospitalized. Many terrorist prefer to use biological agents instead of any other weapon for a few reasons that are; they can easily get there hands on them, they are inexpensive, it is hard to detect, they are easy to make and deliver. Bioterrorism has been used and effective between countries for many years. It was first used in the medieval times to end siege surrounding and attacking a town or building isolating people from supplies and attempting to get a surrender from the inside. • 5. Argumentative Essay On Do Aliens Exist Is There Life Other Than Ours? Have you ever seen a mysterious object floating amongst the sky and wondered just what it could be? Did you ever consider that the being flying in those floating orbs could be of extraterrestrial life? Aliens are a controversy among many, and there is such a vast amount of evidence of their existence that it is difficult not to believe in them. The talk of another life form in our galaxy seems impeccably unlikely to most. People who do not believe in aliens think that the mere thought of them existing is inane. They could not care less about putting in the effort of proving their point that otherworldly figures are not real. Also, many of them will stubbornly refuse even the slight possibility of aliens. Even though there is a plethora of evidence, some people continue to disregard the facts that aliens exist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Victims of alien abductions intermittently have strange markings or scars on their bodies. It is presumed that whenever extraterrestrials abduct them, they perform tests and even further examine the human anatomy. • 7. Compensating Kidney Donors Organ Donation: Legalizing Human Kidney Sales The process of organ donation has existed for many years and throughout that time the system has endured controversies and changes. One of those changes occurred in the late 1960s when the development of immunosuppressive drugs made it possible for people to donate organs to patients who were not related to them (Fentiman 43). This discovery benefited many patients in need of a transplant, but also opened the door to controversies such as organ sales. The first proposal to sell organs came from Virginia physician Dr. H. Barry Jacobs in 1983. He suggested that whoever could afford to buy a kidneyshould be allowed to do so. As a result of Dr. Jacobs s proposal, Congress banned the sale of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ailing, rich patients are buying kidneys from the poor and desperate in burgeoning black markets. Clandestine kidney sellers get little medical follow up, buyers often catch hepatitis or HIV, and both endure the consequences of slap dash surgery ( Psst, Wanna . . . 15). This dangerous alternative provides one example of why the current organ donation system needs to be revised. Another example is that some patients pay to register with internet sites that try to help find organ donors. One site, Matchingdonors.com, charges a lifetime fee of $595 (Postrel 124). Not only do patients spend unnecessary amounts of money on these sites, many who find donors get rejected by hospitals. Hospitals fear that strangers designating a recipient may receive some sort of compensation for their donation (Postrel 124). The refusal of sick patients provides just another reason why the current organ donation system needs to be altered. A new system that provides kidney donors with compensation would correct many of the current system s problems, and increase the donor pool. The new system would allow donors to sell their kidney at a set price. Kidneys would go to recipients in the same way they do now; through the waiting list, whether the patient is rich or poor. Compensation comes from the recipient s insurance, such as Medicare. To insure the safety of the reciepient and donor, every donor would be medically and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. War Dogs Movie Analysis Bottom Feeders The film War Dogs (2016) tracks the rise and fall of two international arms dealers. The movie starts with David, portrayed by Miles Teller, who is stuck as a masseuse with no real opportunities in his life. His best friend from middle school, Efraim, portrayed by Jonah Hill, returns to his life and gives him an offer he cannot refuse. Together they create a small empire but end up getting in over their heads. This film shows the side of war that we rarely see. It shows how much war is truly influenced by money, as well as showing who benefits off the profits. Hint, it is not the soldiers. This directly ties into the American Dream. Additionally, many aspects of the film help drive home this aspect of the American Dream. Things like setting and music are huge in this. These aspects exaggerate points made in the movie and add extra layers. The film addresses the American Dream by stating the reality that the American Dream centers around money and power; the film does this by addressing the financial side of war via music, setting, and characters. The music in this film included a lot of American classics and was a key element. Songs like Fortunate Son by Creedance Clearwater Revival and Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith are classic songs that every American knows and they were used strategically throughout the film. For example, Fortunate Son was used as Efraim and David were fleeing enemy fire in Fallujah. They brought the term gun runners new life when ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kids see attractive people in movies and commercials smoking, or cartoon animals smoking and they think it is cool. If a product, like cigarettes, will make kids feel like they fit in, then they will do it even if the product will hurt them. • 14. Jacques D Arc And His Wife Isabelle Joan of Arc Jacques d Arc and his wife Isabelle were blessed with a baby girl early in the year 1412. They named her Jeanne d Arc, also known as Joan of Arc. They lived in a village called Domremy on the border of eastern France. During the time of Joan s birth, the French and English had a truce. But events coming soon, will determine the life and death of Joan of Arc. An internal war had erupted between two factions of the French Royal family which in turn, would make it easier for the English to invade once again. One side of the faction was called the Orleanist or Armagnac faction which was led by Count Bernard VII and Duke Charles of Orleans. Their rivals were known as the Burgundians who were led by Duke John the fearless of Burgundy. While the French remained divided due to their factions at war, the diplomats failed to extend the treaty with England that was in place. In August of 1415, King Henry V invaded Franceand then defeated an Armagnac dominated French army battle of Agincourt on October 25th. In 1417, the English returned, conquering most of northern France and gaining the support of the Burgundian Duke, Philip II. Philip II had agreed to recognize Henry V as the legal heir to the French throne, yet rejected the rival claim of Charles of Ponthieu, which was the last heir of the Valois dynasty that had ruled France since 1328. Essay on Nasser and the United States In July 1952, the Egyptian government, headed by King Farouk, was overthrown in a bloodless coup led by the Free Officers, soon to be known as the Egyptian Revolutionary Command Council (RCC). The revolution was ostensibly led by Muhammad Naguib but it was clear that he was a mere figurehead and in a little over two years, Gamal Abdel Nasserwould assume the Presidency. Although the goals of the RCC were somewhat unclear at the start, Nasser would embark on a policy of creating an independent Egyptfree from internal and external domination. It was the latter goal that would set Nasser on a collision course with the West, initially Great Britain and to a lesser extent France, but eventually the United States. In this case, a woman was reported missing after she went to work and never returned home. After the police discovered a bloody pillow case in the woods, near her house, they linked it to the missing pillow case in the woman s room, and then realized that they had a murder case on their hands. A mystery in the case was that one of the local neighbors had mentioned seeing the woman leave through the front door of her house but the evidence says different, so investigators had to find out who left the house that morning. This means even after a week the blood has been cleaned up, luminol can still detect it. Also after applying luminol, the area needs to be darkened so that blue glow can be emitted. The iron from the hemoglobin in the blood causes luminol to glow, so a blue glow is produced when the solution is sprayed where there is blood. Only a tiny amount of iron is required to catalyze the reaction (Helmenstine, 2012). The use of luminol revealed that there were blood stains on the bed sheets and suspected that the woman was killed in her bedroom and that she did not go to work that day or leave the house. Upon further analysis of the woman s bedroom, the forensic officers used a chemical called amido black. Amido black is a protein dye that is sensitive to the protein in blood and when it makes contact stains a latent blue black colour. It is used for revealing fingerprints, trace evidence, and fibers that may be in the crime scene. This technique was not useful for the officers because they could not find any prints or evidence. The forensic officers also performed an ultraviolet light test which was used to reveal trace evidence such as vaginal fluid, urine, semen, or saliva. • 18. Marcus Aurelius And Stoicism After the death of Aristotle, philosophy that targeted greater complex depths was outrun by philosophy that focused on mere everyday lives. With the rise and fall of Skepticism, Cynicism, and Epicureanism there was an influence that survived years impacting life and that was Stoicism. Zeno of Citium who believed that the world had an ultimate plan and everything including nature, animals, and humans, were there for a reason (Hergenhahn Henley, 2014, p. 66). The reason Stoicism was easily used is because it was well suited with the way Romans highlighted their law and order giving the extensive coverage displayed by many philosophers, including Marcus Aurelius . Marcus Aurelius, was born in 121 C.E. Growing up his focus of education was overseen by Emperor Hadrian and soon taken over by Emperor Antonius teaching him more of a rhetoric (Sellars, 2002). As the years progressed he shifted in to a study of philosophy leading to him becoming what we know as one of the most important Stoic philosophers. Marcus Aurelius became an emperor in A.D. 160 lasting to A.D.180. he was working closely with Lucius Verus in 169 and his son Commodus in 177 (Crook, 2017). Marcus Aurelius later passed away in A.D. 180, yet his most personal literature is still read today, Meditations. • 19. Rice Paddies And Bologn Malcom Gladwell s Broad... Rice Paddies and Bologna: Gladwell s Broad Generalizations of Success In Malcom Gladwell s Outliers, Gladwell defines success as hidden advantages and social predestination as stated by critic Michiko Kakutani. Kakutani argues that Gladwell s hypotheses are not cohesive and are selective to support his idea. I concur with Kakutani. Gladwell does not provide adequate examples and counterarguments to give his theory a concrete foundation. This creates a very unconvincing argument. Gladwell asserts that success comes from factors and advantages that are mostly overlooked such as birth dates and cultural backgrounds; however, his ideas are loosely based, overly generalized, and unreliable. Now, with technology advancing at the same rate as society matures and changes, success is a concept that can be different to many different groups of people. Gladwell insists that success is formulated through a series of hidden advantages and cultural legacies that are fixed, therefore that s why many do not become successful. I simply do not feel that is the case. Success is achieved through ambition and hard work that is instilled in you. Anyone has the power to take matters into their own hands and create their own success. Gladwell used many anecdotes and stories to push his hypotheses. An example would be the two chapters titled The Trouble with Geniuses Part One and The Trouble With Geniuses Part Two . In these chapters, Gladwell introduces Chris Langan, a man with an IQ higher ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 20. Rhetorical Analysis Of Daniel CONTEXTUAL ANALYSIS The book of Daniel is one about hope and unshakeable faith in God. Daniel is one of the greatest examples of a God fearing man who did everything in his power to prove his love and loyalty for his Savior. The main theme of the book of Daniel is God s sovereignty over history and empires, in which He appoints and dethrones rulers as He pleases.1 This is an allusion to the fact that worldly kingdoms will come and go, but the Lord s Kingdom will never pass away. Several chapters throughout the book of Daniel deal with this concept. The book is named after the writer and main character, written in the sixth century B.C., to record the events of his life and the visions that he saw from the time of his exile to the third year of King Cyrus.2 The passage which is being studied is found in Daniel 3:8 30 which is the story of the fiery furnace. Before one can examine this passage of Scripture, it is imperative that one understands the events that took place before the action to fully understand the story. The first was first aired in nineteen seventy one while the second was first aired in twenty fourteen. I think that the Taylor Swift commercial is more successful than the Hilltop commercial because it better addresses its more specific audience. The Hilltop commercial s strategy is to sell the brand of Coca Cola to the world. The commercial starts of showing just the face of a young, blonde woman singing. The camera begins to pan out, revealing that there are multiple people all on the top of a lush hillside. The Coke bottles all have labels written in different languages. They all sing, I d like to buy the world a Coke, and keep it company, and It s the real thing. The Visit, for instance, is about an impoverished town that is in need of money. The town realizes on Ill, who is a main character, to call a friend and ask for a favor, and he does. Claire, Ill s friend, places an ironic twist on the requirement in order to get the money, which is someone must kill Ill, but by the end of the play someone does kill Ill. In general, the play depicts the idea that it is human nature to do anything in order to survive. Due to Friedrich Durrenmatt s various techniques when writing the play, the reader gets a town comparable to Germany during the 1930s and 1940s. Friedrich Durrenmatt s techniques were used to foreshadow the play and to depict the condition and choices of Germany before and during World War II from a logical view. For example, the black panther, which is one of the most profound symbols throughout the play, is Claire s pet. She brings it with her to Guellen in a cage. The panther is the symbolic foreshadow of Ill s life in this play, and Claire refers to Ill several times by the nickname black panther . The butler proclaims, The black panther escaped, Madam. Many people would agree when I say that this mineral is such a nice thing to look at, but few people actually know what it is made of and how it was formed. These precious minerals are composed of Carbon. The process to making this immaculate mineral is as following. First, you must bury Carbon dioxide deep into the earth; approximately, 100 miles deep. Second, you must heat the substance at a temperature of 2,200 degrees fahrenheit. Next, squeeze or tightly compact the substance under pressure of 725,000 pounds per square inch. Finally, it must quickly rush to the earths surface to cool off. All this must be done just to create diamond. Luckily for some men, scientist have created an alternative of the mined diamonds, it is a synthetic diamond composed of the same things and look almost identical. So if you re planning to pop the big question soon you have options with that part of the proposal. When you think of the price of real diamonds you might think that they are pretty expensive and what makes them so special. Along with its looks, it is a rare mineral that still has a high demand. The places where you can find high concentrations are usually far away. As a matter of fact, the location that has the largest concentration of diamonds is in central and southern Africa. A Comparative Analysis Of Fasting, Feasting By Anita Desai Though the novel ends in facilely compromising way of Sita s returning with her husband and children to the dull and disgusting Bombay life, she doesn t make any attempt to liberate herself from the shell of psychic paralysis and resigns herself passively to the inanimate and insipid life of Bombay which in reality is a limbo of death in life. In Fasting, Feasting, Anita Desai uses light touch, simple language, uncomplicated structure, but at the same time addresses some very big issues and makes a point. In this novel Uma and Arun are children of Mamapapa, the apparently indivisible common identity that parents present. These parents, however, are not at all alike. Mama is protective, perhaps selfish, and not a little indolent. Papa is a parsimonious control freak who locks away the telephone because someone might use it. But they are at least together. Their relationship has survived, despite the long wait for a son, and their disappointment at his disability. Fasting, Feasting presents apparent opposites, two contrasting, if imbalanced scenarios, India and the USA. It offers two deformed observers, Uma and Arun. It unpicks two contrasting cultures and finds that women are slaves in both. The opposites are thus ultimately similar, hardly opposed. Hispanics are often defined as people from any country that is spanish speaker in Latin America. Us hispanics and Latin Americans come from diverse social, economic, and geographic backgrounds making us all different depending on our family heritage and national origin. However, there s some cultural similarities that tend to bring our diverse backgrounds together. One of the most common cultural characteristics of Hispanic and Latin American culture is the spanish language. Hispanic families often teach their children spanish as a way of passing down their heritage and culture, this is what has helped revive the spanish language around the globe. Food is also one of the most common cultural characteristics in the hispanic/latino culture like tortillas, tamales, tacos and salsa. Parties are also one of the most common characteristics, everyone knows hispanics like to party a lot like my family if it s someone s birthday on tuesday we ll cook invite everyone to just have a small celebration but and at the end it turns out into a big party even though we already have one plan for saturday to actually celebrate it. There is indeed a heavy burden and a discrepancy with regards to racism, stemming from a lack of education, towards a lack of opportunities, which leads to oppression. While Tricia Rose explores how the educational system is under representative when it comes to minorities and the oppressed, BeyoncГ© took a bold political statement while juxtaposing her views towards the radical Black Panther movement. First, Tricia Rose explores the onset of educational equality within this unequal system. She sheds light on the misconception that wealthy individuals are worthy and have received their knowledge as well as money in a just way. Conversely, the poor, unprivileged individuals have not obtained just rewards, where the educational system has created an unnecessary burden for students. This can be exemplified by the fact that students obtaining an education already have their future carved out. The mass number of an atom is defined by the sum of the protons and neutrons; the atomic number of an atom is defined by the number of protons only. Atoms which have different mass numbers but have the same atomic number are referred as isotopes, for example carbon 12, 13, and 14.Nucleus with special numbers of the neutronand protons are referred as nuclides. Radio nuclides are usually unstable and it continuously emits particles as well as emits the electromagnetic radiation.
