King Island Lesson
King s Island Taught Me a Lesson Kisaiah Wickers When your body tells you no, listen! It was
two years ago at Kings Island and I was with my friends. We were walking to the biggest ride in
Kings Island, the Banshee, which also goes upside down. When we got in line, a sign noted that
it was a two hour wait from this point. So, only two of us wanted to wait, because this was the
Banshee. While waiting in line, it was very hot and I started to get one of my migraines. Just then
we were next in line, so we took our seats. Although four seats were together, we each had our
own section that we were buckled in. By now, my head was really pounding, but it was too late to
get off the roller coaster. After being

The Application Of A Model, Paradigm And Needs Assessment...
The Application of A Model, Paradigm and Needs Assessment Results on Program Modifications
In an effort to ensure the program has a positive impact on the students mental health, the model,
paradigm and needs assessment results must drive any program modifications and services.
According to Erford (2014), a perception based needs assessment allows counselors to address the
needs of individuals in a community. A college community needs assessment, using secondary data
sources, is an example of how assessment results can assist with the initial design of the program,
while also serving as data indicators for program modification. For example, if the desired outcome
is to increase Black/African Americanstudentusage of healthand wellness center services, the
intake and sign in sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. Another example is
using a pre post wellness inventory to assess if students have an increase in their knowledge and
usage of demonstrated and discussed wellness strategies. Also, retention rates and graduation rates
can also serve as indicators of program impact. Additionally, Tyler s psychosocial competence
model and the Afrocentric paradigm can also impact program modifications. The example of the
wellness inventory that assesses wellness strategy usage will indicate whether or not Tyler s
psychosocial competence model is an acceptable framework for the program. If so, then the model
can impact how particular wellness strategies are being

The Rise Of The Chinese Economy
Throughout the world, there are many nations and regions that have undergone immense changes
to reach their modern positions in the international economy. One such location is China, which
experienced a major shift from a society revolved around independent sustenance in the agricultural
industry into a society revolved around socialism, direct funding for the Chinese government
through the Chinese people, and the mass production of goods with high demand in the global
market by co operatives. Of course, the changes in the workings of the Chinese economy
developed from the changes in the politics of China. On the 1st of October 1949, The People s
Republic of China was founded in Beijing. The founding of the party both marked the end of what
is today considered by historians the most profound revolutionary upheaval in modern history, in
which the Guomindang Party rose to power in China, issued many different currencies, and was
unable to control inflation, food shortages, and exponentially occurring price fixations; as well as
the beginning of the tides of socialism in China in the 20th century, which caused the contemporary
Chinese economic transformation. The Chinese economic transition from a centrally planned
economy and agrarian society to a market economy and unified, socialist society was ultimately
caused by the three Five Year Plans adopted by the growing Chinese Communist Party, which were
stable and beneficial outlines for the Chinese regime because they developed

When you put your ideas on paper, your instructors want to distinguish between the building
block ideas borrowed from other people and your own newly reasoned perspectives or
conclusions. You make these distinctions in a written paper by citing the sources for your
building block ideas. Providing appropriate citations will also help readers who are interested in
your topic find additional, related material to read in this way, they will be able to build on the
work you have done to find sources. Think of it this way: in the vast majority of assignments you
ll get in college, your instructors will ask you to read something (think of this material as the
building blocks) and then write a paper in which you analyze one or more aspects of what you
have read (think of this as the new structure you build). Essentially, your instructors are asking
you to do three things: * Show that you have a clear understanding of the material you ve read. *
Refer to your sources to support the ideas you have developed. * Distinguish your analysis of
what you ve read from the authors analyses. When you cite a source, you are using an expert s
ideas as proof or evidence of a new idea that you are trying to communicate to the reader. What
about common knowledge ? In every professional field, experts consider some ideas common

Symbolism In Apocalypse Now
The movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola is an adaption of the book Heart of
Darkness by Joseph Conrad. A Green Beret or Special Forces Captain in the Army is tasked with
hunting down and killing an ex Special Forces Colonel, Colonel Kurtz who is played by Marlon
Brando, that turned rogue. The movie is set during the Middle of the Vietnam War. Captain
Willard, played by Martin Sheen, is depicted as slightly insane and wavering between the lines
of morality. In the beginning shot the song This is the End by The Doors is the score played
while images of massive explosions are shown. At first, we see beautiful scenery of palm trees
that are then destroyed by what appears to be napalm. This seemingly random shot depicts one of
the main themes of the whole movie; the savage madness of war and the detrimental effect it has
on the human psyche. We also see this when Willard is lying on his bed and his face is super
imposed over a fan which closely resemble helicopter blades.... Show more content on

You also see a similar effect on Lance as they travel further down the river he camouflages his
face, depicting his transition from sanity into madness. Later Lance is seen standing in the rain,

One iconic scene, which clearly depicts how war has had an effect on the human psyche, is when

John Wilson Quotes
Many readers infer that John Wilson is a homeless man in the short story, Zebra, by Chaim
Potok, but this claim has been proven otherwise throughout the story. This quote proves that
John Wilson is, in fact, not homeless: The sender was John Wilson, with a return address in
Virginia (Potok 60). The reader can assume from this quote that John Wilson does occupy a
home due to the fact that there was a return address labeled on the envelope. In the story, Zebra
also realizes that John Wilson is not a hobo because he notices the return address in Virginia on
the large brown envelope. This quote is another piece of evidence that displays that John Wilson
does have a home: I leave it near his name for a few hours, and then I take it to my studio

Summary Of The Giver By Lois Lowry
Lois Lowry explores many themes in The Giver including life isn t fun without choices, taking
risks are necessary, true sameness can never be achieved.
In Jonas s society, everyone lives by the same rules to avoid sadness and conflict. What if they
were allowed to choose their own mate? and choose wrong? (Lowry 98). This community is
terrified of making the wrong choice for a spouse, so the committee of elders chooses for them.
It s hard to imagine a world where something as difficult is choosing a spouse is made so easy.
But it doesn t stop there. People in this society don t even get to choose what they wear. For
example, Females under nine are to wear ribbons in their hair at all times, (Lowry 28). Life is very
dull without being able to make decisions. If people in this community could make their own
choices for jobs, clothes, etc, everything would be more fun. Of course there would be conflict, but
at least everyone can think independently. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Is it such a bad thing? One of the first times Jonas took a risk was when he stole the apple from the
recreation area even though he wasn t allowed to. The apple had changed. Just for an instant,
(Lowry 30). Jonas was curious about this changing apple, so he decided to take it home. This
was a big turning point because Jonas was the first one to actually show curiosity instead of
taking what s given to him without question. Another huge risk Jonas took was deciding to leave
the community. If he had stayed...he would have lived a life hungry for feelings, for color, for
love (Lowry 218) Jonas wanted to see beyond his community. He faced starvation, pain, and other
things he had never experienced before to escape this life. In order to do that, he had to take

The Effect Of Interval Training On Muscle Fatigue
Introduction
Interval training is charactered by intensity, work duration and rest periods. It involves a short or
long durations of high intensity exercise repeated with a specific amount of recovery. The training
type improves athlete s performance along with their cardiorespiratory fitness, VO2 max and
improves exercise adaptations (Billat, 2001). Exercise intensities elevate ATP utilisation and restrict
metabolic processes, increasing the level of blood lactate. The restriction of metabolic processes
causes an increase in muscle fatigue. Therefore restoration of metabolic concentrations during
recovery periods from intense exercise is important for optimal exercise performance (Edge, Eynon,
McKenna, Goodman Bishop, 2013).
Alternating work and recovery periods during intense exercise also allow depleted ATP and PC
stores to be replenished, along with oxygen myoglobin stores. Long interval protocols allow alactic
energy systems to reuse energy via the glycolytic energy system, reducing the need to utilise energy.
However, as this energy system is involved blood lactate and lactic acid are increased resulting in
higher levels of muscle fatigue (Seiler, Joranson, Olesen Heltelid, 2013). In addition, for optimal
training stimulus high intensities for prolonged periods of time, and or long intervals cannot be
sustained without implementing recovery periods (RГёnnestad, Hansen, Vegge, TГёnnessen
SlettalГёkken, 2015). Short interval protocols allow the athlete to achieve

The Black Walnut Tree Figurative Language
In The Roots
There is a conflict between practicality and sentimentality conveyed through the use of both literal
and figurative language by poet Mary Oliver in The Black Walnut Tree. There is an alternation
from a debate between mother and daughter rationalizing reasons of selling the black walnut tree
that sits in the family s backyard in order to pay off their mortgage, to the symbolic viewing and
characterization of the tree as a reflection of the family s history and what value it holds to further
generations. Despite the whip crack of the mortgage experienced every month, cutting down the
black walnut tree would be a heinous deception on the family s heritage.
The literal language used in the beginning of the free verse does not imply the tree having any
symbolic meaning to the speaker and her mother. It is casually said My mother and I debate, we
could sell the black walnut tree...[to] pay off the mortgage which defines that in these lines the tree
has not yet been introduced with its symbolic purpose. Initially, the tree is viewed as a property
they are willing to sell. They rationalize the idea by noting that there are roots in the ... Show more

Pleasantville setting essay
Describe at least ONE important setting in the text(s).
Explain how the setting helped to show the author / creator s idea(s), supporting your points with
visual and / or oral language features.
The film Pleasantville written, directed and produced by Gary Ross shows a time period in
American History where life was more comfortable, stable and perfect if you would generalise it.
However, as the film ironically shows, this was a time when people were more ignorant, racist
and most certainly sexist. Ross demolishes this illusion of the great 1950s American society by
showing how its defects are gradually changed from black and white to colour. Ross uses various

Betty is a clear example of costume change. In the beginning Betty wore the typical ladies dress
wear, big poodle skirt etc but as betty starts gaining more knowledge and independence she starts
dressing more elegantly and feminine .This shows the viewer that as the people of pleasantville
gains more knowledge they start to demonstrate the idea of The importance of change which is one
of the ideas that gary ross shows us through setting.
Music is an important signifier of setting and shows the idea of The importance of change
clearly throughout the film. When Jen and David first enter Pleasantville the recurring songs
and motifs for example Take 5 by Dave Brubeck which is played at the beginning in the soda
shop gives the town of pleasantville a very joyful and pleasant atmosphere. This music perfectly
matches the naivety of the teenagers as they engage in good, clean fun with their peers. As the
idea of The importance of change starts to appear in pleasantville, the music becomes more
complex and darker to portray the new rebellious mood that has seized Pleasantville. An example
of this is when the new code of conduct was issued and one of the rules were In no event shall any

What Does Ambiguity Mean In The Things They Carried
When a word, phrase, or statement is ambiguous, it contains multiple meanings that can be
interpreted in at least two different ways. The use of ambiguity may confuse the reader on
understanding the author s viewpoint. However, it can also be used to convey the author s multiple
viewpoints through single word, phrase, or statement, thus, allowing the reader to understand the
literature in deeper sense of meaning. In the fictional novel, The Things They Carried by Tim O

Eagles Flying Success Essay
The Eagles Flying Success Producing well written music is truly an art. Music has an incredible
power to transform our moods and attitudes, while conveying a message. The Eagles, a popular
1970 s rock band, originating in California, was able to do just that (Waddell). Over their long
career, many fans have been drawn to attend one of their numerous concerts. Therefore, the Eagles
are a successful band since they: had a wide interest in their music, stood out from other bands,
have received public recognition, and have generated great wealth. Primarily, successful bands
must create a wide interest in their music. The Eagles lured in many types of rock fans by playing
rock and roll, country rock, and soft rock music. A typical Eagles concert would wisely include all

Naguib Mahfouz’s Zaabalawi Essay
Naguib Mahfouz s Zaabalawi
The Islamic tradition, as reflected in Naguib Mahfouz s Zaabalawi, has over the course of history
had an incredible impact on Arab culture. In Mahfouz s time, Islamic practices combined with
their political relevance proved a source of both great power and woe in Middle Eastern countries.
As alluded to in Zaabalawi, Mahfouz asserts the fact that not all Muslims attain religious fulfillment
through this common tradition, and other methods outside the scope of Islam may be necessary in
true spiritual understanding.
My project emphasizes this spiritual tension by presenting a wineglass inscribed with Qur anic
verses. By examining the purpose and structure of this wineglass, the truth of Mahfouz s ... Show

In accordance with these symbols of essence, the Qur anic script around the wineglass also proves
applicable to Zaabalawi. It reads, phonetically: Iqra/ warabbuka al akramu, Allathee AAallama
bialqalami. Or in English: Recite in the name of the Lord, who has taught by the pen. This is a
passage from the 96th Surah, Al A laq in the Qur an. Such references to writings and penmanship
highlight the importance of calligraphic beauty in such a society.
Muslims believe that it is important to read the Qur an in Arabic. Their religion teaches that God
intentionally presented the holy book to Arabs because their language holds a secret beauty and
truth not found in others. Thus, if one is to complete the task of reading the Qur an, it must be
done in Arabic or with a corresponding Arabic text. For this reason, I wrote in Arabic script around
the glass because its translation would be incomplete otherwise.
Furthermore, the first command of Allah is Recite! This is reflected in the Muslim appreciation
for both the oral recitation and visual replication of the Qur an. Calligraphy, as a creative
expression of the Qur an, has become a predominant art form in many Muslim countries. The
calligrapher in Zaabalawi, in fact, has had much contact with true spirituality in his mastery of the
Arabic script. Therefore, my act of inscribing Islamic verses would, in their culture, be considered
a type of prayer and homage

Introduction
Christians share a common given goal, which is to make the name of God known throughout the
world, to every nation, tribe and tongue. The Great Commission given by Jesus is the fuel and
the reason Christ s followers risk all for the sake of God s name. God will continue to sponsor and
support His people until the work is complete.
Koreans in North Korea form one group of unreached people. People Groups website defines a
unreached people group as one where there is no indigenous community of believing Christians
able to engage this people group with church planting. The inability of church planting amongst this

Software Testing Is A Technical Task
Art of Software Testing
Prof.Sheetal N.Khanore
Bunts Sangha`s S.M.Shetty College Science, Commerce and Management Studies,
Abstract
Software testing is a technical task, but it also involves some important considerations of
economics and human psychology. In technical aspects it is the process of analyzing a software
item to detect the differences between existing and required conditions (that is defects/errors/bugs)
and to evaluate the features of the software item . A software error occurs when the program does
not do, what its end user reasonably expects it to do.
Software testing is more difficult because of the vast array of programming languages, operating
systems, and hardware platforms that have evolved but at the same time ... Show more content on

Introduction
Software engineering provides the framework for building the high quality software. It integrates
the various strategies, methods and tools for the software development. The revolution of software
engineering offers the different types of software development models. It majorly ratifies the
performance of the software through the testing and maintenance phase of the software.
The testing move toward the static testing (human testing) and dynamic testing (Computer aided
testing).
There are some basic strategies that qualify the software to make sure it s good performance. These
strategies listed below
Structure testing
пѓЁWhite box testing( developer testing)
пѓЁfocuses on the inner structure of the test object
Function testing
пѓЁBlack box testing ( user testing)
пѓЁBehavior given by the specification The validation improves the performance of testing by
increasing the confidence in the quality issues of the software.
System Testing
System testing is not a process of testing the functions of the complete system or program, because
this would be redundant with the process of function testing. This testing has a particular purpose as

Aicpa Code Of Professional Conduct Essay
Audit Research
Introduction
Accounting and management are the major pillars of an organization that contributes to the country
s economy. Introduction of AICPA Code of Professional Conduct helps in controlling the business
operation especially in the accounting and management departments. Accounting and management
fraud have been experienced whereby through corruption or other means, entrusted managers and
accountants tend to be selfish in undertaking their duties. These factors are well addressed by the
AICPA Code of Professional Conduct principles. Therefore, the study seeks to introduce two case
studies whereby the management fraud have been experienced. Furthermore, the study will
incorporate the use of AICPA Code of Professional Conduct in controlling the situation to ensure
harmonious business operation in the management.
AICPA Code of Professional Conduct principles prevents vises such as fraud that are experienced
in accountancy field. Audit is the best measure of the effect of the fraud that are imposed to
investors by accountants. The relationship of the investors and account holders are supposed to be
affirmed through auditing to ensure accounting principles are upheld(Weirich, Pearson, Churyk,
2010). Improper loss of the funds through propagation of the accountant officer should be treated
as fraud and criminal activity that should lead to prosecution. Therefore, the paper seeks to relate

Germany was forced to surrender after the first world war, on 11 November 1918 and were made
to sign the Treaty of Versailles. One of the terms was to pay reparations of 6.6 billion (11625.34
Australian Dollars) for the damage Germany caused. They were unable to repay these reparations,
and in an attempt to stabilise their economy America loaned Germanymoney. In the 1920 s
Germany became politically and economically unstable. This was known as The Great Depression,
which began in the United States during 1929. The American economy collapsed and they
requested that Germany should repay these loans. Causing Germany to become the country with

The beginning of economic hardship started after World War I, Kaiser William I, the German ruler
fled to Holland. In his place was the democracy of Germany, they were known as the Weimar
Republic. The Weimar Republic was blamed for the failure of World War 1, due to signing the
Treaty of Versailleson the 29th of June 1919 (BBC, 2014). This led to the Great Depression.
Prior to the Great Depression Germany was doing well, it was the most powerful industry. This is
the main reason for the anger and hatred within the German society, they were use to power and a
stable economy. The German economy relied heavily on America, without this it caused a mass of
unemployment and 744 banks failed (livinghistoryfarm, 2003). This led to poverty within
Germany with the unemployed increased to six million (Mason, J., 2003). This had an impact on
different groups within society. Children feared of leaving school unemployed with no jobs, while
anxiety and embitterment grew in the minds of the Germans (Swinton, J., 1995). Farmers were
also greatly impacted, they were unable to sell or produce stock which meant no money or food in
Germany. The Great Depression impacted Germany politely and socially, many were upset about

Ireland American Culture
There are many crucial aspects to keeping a culture alive. Alongside traditions, food, rituals, and
practices, music stands to be a vital facet to maintain the presence of a certain country or people
group. In Ireland, music was and is a huge part of how people communicate ideas, entertain
themselves, and engage with the community. Irelands musical history began thousands of years
ago but continues to stay a cherished part of Irish culture in its traditional form, as well as more
Americanized forms of original pieces. Irish folk musicunderwent many stages to become what it is

Ireland was a colony under British rule and regulation for many centuries. This alone had a
major impact on the morale and sense of nationalism among the people of the country (Galvin,
Ireland s Musical Heritage). The Irish people also endured the Irish potato famine. During this
time period otherwise known as the Great Famine, Ireland experienced years of extreme
starvation and poverty, as well as disease and emigration. This had a great influence on Ireland s
development as a country. Instead of having positive relationships with music and art, among
other aspects of the culture, of course, the people of Ireland had a negative outlook on most of
life, and rightfully so. However, music and song were held to be an even more important aspect
of communication rather than spoken word (Mokyr, The Great Famine). The communication of
song was deeper and better exemplified the people of Ireland s sense of nationalism and pride in
their country. In 1921, Ireland signed a peace treaty with Great Britain that granted them
independence from British rule. This allowed Irish musicians and tradition keepers to really
express a new found sense of nationalism and pride in their country that was really displayed in
the compositions and pieces created around the time(Galvin, Ireland s Musical Heritage) Overall
the history of ireland played a huge role in the development of their musical styles, and it is clear
that with the great amount of emigration and the continued healing of the counland try from a once
starving country to a thriving place, that the music and inspiration behind Irish music has evolved,

The Israeli Palestinian Conflict Within The Context Of The...
In order to establish whether the Israeli Palestinian conflict within the context of the years
1881 to 1993 should be defined as right against right , it should be first considered the fact that two
entities have been juxtaposed to each other throughout the conflict making them more or less right.
Analysing the sources it appeared that the conflict has been characterized by many
misunderstandings, feelings of fear and attacks in order to protect their countries, however the most
important thing that influenced the conflict was the continuous misunderstandings of the two
ethnicities, Palestine felt to have the right to attack Israel and vice versa. Hence, this essay aims to

Furthermore, it could be argued that both sides were victims of the British, who were also
responsible for aggravating the conflict. The Israeli Palestinian conflict has its origins in the British
imperial politics. The Great Britain, in fact, in order to obtain the Arab support against Turkey
during the First World War, had proposed the birth of an independent Arab state in Palestine, at the
time under the Ottoman supremacy. Retaining that it was better not to antagonize the Jewish
Western elite who sympathized with the Zionist ideology and since 1882 have pushed a great
number of Jews from Eastern Europe to Palestine, British government kept a divided breeding
ground in order to gain a supremacy on that land: Palestine. This led on the 2nd of November 1917
to the Balfour Declaration, which promised Jews an independent state, however with the
contradictory promise not to damage the already existing communities in Palestine. In addition,
Britain must atone for its sins in Palestine stated by Dr. Nabeel Shaatah, a member of the PLO,
which seems to suggest that Britain had a prime league position in this conflict, which could be a
reason for the feeling of righteousness that the two population had. In other words, giving the
impression that Britain was promising both Palestine and Israel the support in order to ensure the

Insect Pollinators And Its Effects On The World
There are several different species of insect pollinators, but the bees in general make up sixty two
percent of them. Honeybees make up thirty nine percent of that number, and the other twenty three
is composed of several different species of bees. According to the U.S. Department of Agriculture,
one third of the homo sapiens diet is insectpollinated and honeybees are accountable for eighty
percent of the pollination of that one third. The population of the honeybees in the United States
has been noticeably declining from the late 1990 s, so the threat to the majority of the world food
supply is slowly increasing as our pollinators population decreases.
Bees aren t the only insect pollinators in the world, but they are by far the most widespread ones.
Despite this, non bee insect pollinators have a contributing factor to the success of pollination that
the bees themselves don t. There have been studies on the success of the pollination and seeding
of flowers and plants. Bees have a fairly average success rate, focusing more on spreading the
pollination farther afield than the success of the seeding . Non bee insects tend to stay in a small
ranged area that allows them to visit the same flowers more often, thus increasing the success of
their visits.
Non bee insect pollinators include flies, beetles, moths, butterflies, wasps, ants, birds, and bats, just
to name a few. Furthermore, they are far less reliant upon their natural habitats, allowing them to

What painting is more formidable, and describes the most powerful representational art of young
siblings in a household setting, better than Sargent s The Daughter of Edward Darley Boit? Where
were they wearing similar dresses? Were they wearing a uniform? Why were they not smiling?
When and how was the painting created? Why was the painting created? What meaning was
behind this painting? Sargent was a friend of Boit and therefore creating a painting 1882; which is
221.93 x 222. 57 cm painted oil on canvas, conveying the message of Boit s four daughters who
were completely unique and beautiful in their own way. Sargent uses techniques such as Unity,
Variety, Emphasis, Subordination, Balance, Contrast and Forces to bring a realistic painting of
these four sisters.
Sargent s painting portrays a typical household setting. Four daughters are present in the room along
with some furniture and other objects found in a typical wealthy family. These objects include a
carpet, a doll in the youngest daughters hand, mirror, and many antique vases. Looking at the
painting, one can conclude that three of the four daughters are very receptive towards the artist, and
are giving their full attention. However, the other daughter, the one leaning towards a big antique
vase, seems upset. She may be shy and does not want the painter to see her face. The most impactful
thing about the painting is that the daughters are shown

The Forum Historians consider the Forum to be the centre of Pompeian life therefore it is an
important aspect to study as numerous buildings and many events occurred there. From the latest
evidence, it is believed that the Pompeian Forum was undergoing a comprehensive, vigorous and

the Public Lares was located in the North East of the Forum in Pompeii. The Lares Publici were
the protectors of the crossroads (compita). Historians argue whether the building was either
commenced after the earthquake of 62 AD or almost fully reconstructed as a dedication to the
tutelary gods of Pompeii due to the recent misfortune. The architecture was quite unusual
showing changing designs. The temple had no roof and had a floor with coloured marble
arranged in a geometric pattern. It had no wall on the Forum side that left it entirely open. It
could be entered through a portico adjoining the colonnade of the Forum. On entering the temple
there was two alcoves where statues of the Lares would most likely have stood. Remains show a

What Is The Categorical Imperative
Immanuel Kant s seminal work, the Grounding for the Metaphysics of Morals and its subsequent
On a Supposed Right to Lie because of Philanthropic Concerns , ushered in a new era of critical
thinking on morality and will through his development of the categorical imperative. However, his
thoughts behind the categorical imperative that is, that all moral concepts and thus the categorical
imperative comes a priori in reason (Kant 22) are flawed in the belief of reason existing at all.
That is to say that Kant s attempted proof to show that morals come a priori in reason is flawed in
the assumption that humans can reason at all. As well, his attempt to show the categorical
imperative in action (through his example of lying) is also flawed and essentially unable to be
proved through the demonstration of the first point. Finally, the... Show more content on

An Analysis Of Hitler s Operation Barbarossa
The wartime relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States, tenuously compromised
and founded upon the necessity of the immediate pragmatism instigated by Hitler s Operation
Barbarossa, was doomed to inevitably disintegrate once both parties ceased to confront a common
belligerent. There are two significant factors within the breakdown of United StatesSoviet relations
following World War II. First is the ideological incongruence within the communist capitalist
dichotomy. Evangelical in nature, both powers aspired toward the proliferation of their political
model (Class Lecture, Slide 2). Similarly, Stalin s narrative of the bourgeoisie s desire to

Hitler And Antisemitism
The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the
Treaty of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements
such as Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the
nation as one of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community
among the members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths
and symbols, which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war

the main concepts of race and its relation to politics. Whereas the political domain in Germany was
formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the
racial laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the
most radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the
Italian nation. Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial
thinking has been fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law

The Gospel Of Wealth By Andrew Carnegie Essay
Since the nineteenth and twentieth century, there has always been a division between the wealthy
and unfortunate. During these times the higher class continued to prosper while the lower class
remained at the bottom, the separation continues to grow. Three men vocalize their views on the
social division, capitalism, and individualism. Andrew Carnegie, an industrialist, believed the rich
should distributed their wealth to benefit society while they re alive. Carnegie elaborates this
idea in his article, The Gospel of Wealth, written in 1889. Russell Conwell, a philanthropist,
expresses in his speech, Acres of Diamonds, men should utilize their surrounding opportunities to
make themselves wealthy. Edward Bellamy, a socialist, wrote Look Backward about a wealthy
young man, Julian West, who enters hypnotic sleep in 1887 and awakes 113 years later.
Although, the men state similar matters their views contrast, Carnegie and Conwell would most
likely be critical to Bellamy s vision. Julian West is educated and the third generation of his
family to have great fortune. West s life of luxury succeed through support from the labor of
others, rendering no sort of service in return (Bellamy). When West enters hypnotic sleep and
awakes in 2000 he realizes the 20th century is very different from the 19th. Bellamy s Looking
Backward was vastly popular particular among the middle class. His vision is desired by the middle
class because it s better than today s world. Bellamy s vision

Australian Open Tennis Tickets Essay
The world of tennis breathed a heavy sigh of discontent, as a Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer US
Open battle once again did not materialize. Nevertheless, don t worry; tennis enthusiasts should
secure their Australian Open tennis tickets early, because rivals seem to meet down under .
However, what was even more impressive was what happened in the women s bracket in New
York. Tennis may be on the verge of the next American surge, with some resistance from the elder
stateswomen.

GarbiГ±e Muguruza is now #1 in the world, in spite of losing in the 4th round. Two more top 10
females were ousted from the US Open adding even more questions for women heading into next
year s first major. The next generation of American women is building the suspense for Australian
Open tennis tickets, the first major of 2018.
Will Australian Open Tennis Tickets See The Resurgence of the Old Guard?
Not to be lost on the American dominance by the US youth movement was the feat of Kaia
Kanepi. Kanepi reached the quarterfinals as qualifier, but may be part of a resurgence of mature
women pros. Venus Williamspushed her own ranking back within the top 5 heading into 2018, and
now sits as possible favorite leading to speculation she would warrant strong consideration as a
favorite heading into this year s tournament.
Williams will create a huge draw for Australian Open tennis tickets as she tries to win a major that
has eluded her. As recently as 2017, Venus navigated her way to a finals match against her
legendary sister, Serena.
As with their previous Australian Open final, Venus ended up runner up. With Serena still working
her way through new motherhood, Venus will have her eye on the title that has eluded her. As
amazing as the American dominance was at the US Open, one big reason for grabbing your
Australian Open tennis tickets might be the resurgence of one women s player.

Human And Environmental Interactions Of The Salem Creek...
Human and Environmental Interactions Each watershed varies depending on location. The Salem
Creek watershed naturally consists of rocks, vegetation, water, clay and loam soils, slopes, and
juvenile aquatic life. Conversely, there is naturally some stream bank and soil erosion. As for
human features, the watershed consists of drainage pipes, sewage pipes, bridges, mounds of
cement, and pollution sources. Most of the human features are generally in the highly urbanized
areas of the watershed, which consists of northwestern portion of Winston Salem, NC. There were
also impervious surfaces bordering both sides of the watershed. On the stretch parallel to Old
Salem Road, there was Old Salem Road on one side of the watershed, and housing and other
buildings on the other. With the portion that is appears near South Main Street, there is a multiuse
development and major road bordering it. There is also cement on the furthest side of the
watershed and a sidewalk on the other that border the wide portion of the watershed that is located
in the Salem Creek Greenway.
Many of these impervious surfaces have drainage systems that run directly into the watershed. As
shown above in the center picture, there is direct drainage from the street to the watershed with no
type of filtration, which in return has cause the glistening polluted puddle in front of the drainage
pipe. Salem College as well as Old Salem are large tourists attractions for Winston Salem, NC. In

Two Negative Aspects Of The Disease Model Of Addiction
The four models of addiction that I have chosen to discuss are the Disease Model of addiction, the
Twin Normative Failure Model, the Defect of Agency Model, and the Habit and Deep Learning
Model.
The disease model of addiction taken broadly characterizes addiction as severe, chronic stage of
substance use disorder, in which there is a substantial loss of self control, as indicated by
compulsive drug taking despite the desire to stop taking the drug (Frank Nagel, 2017). While
reading Addiction and Moralization: The Role of the Underlying Model of Addiction the two
negative aspects of the disease model that I found was that first the disease model states that
addiction is a disease meaning the addicted person has no control over their actions but
according to the text People who suffer from an addiction often refrain from engaging in
addictive behavior for periods; and further, their addiction often requires an elaborate series of
actions, which cannot all be compelled (Frank Nagel, 2017). The second negative aspect that I
found for the disease model is that by referring to addiction as a disease it in turn causes people to
feel stigmatized which prevents them from feeling like they have self control and damages their
self esteem. The two positive aspects of the disease model that I found which for the most part
contradicts the negative aspects, is that the disease model is in fact a disease based on the fact that
addiction changes the way the brain functions much like

The Thematic Trifecta Of The Scarlet Letter
The Thematic Trifecta of The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter, written by Nathaniel Hawthorne, narrates the experiences of Hester Prynne, a
beautiful young woman in Puritan times, after committing the sin of adultery with the local
Reverend, Mr. Arthur Dimmesdale. Because she became pregnant, she bears the public scorn of her
sin, while the town does not uncover Mr. Dimmesdale s participation in the act until the very end of
the novel. Using the Puritan society as the setting, and the development of both Hester Prynne and
Arthur Dimmesdale, Hawthorne explores the concepts of individuality, identity, and isolation.
Through Hester and Dimmesdale, he presents two scenarios: one in which the character is isolated
and freed from society, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
So great was this emotional control that in one of their happiest days, the Election Procession,
they appeared scarcely more grave than most other communities at a period of general affliction.
(Page 210) Using the Puritans as a backdrop for the novel, a society notorious for its Spartan,
emotionless nature and punishment of those who are different, unique, and in any way stray from
the expected, was a conscious choice by Hawthorne that allows the themes of identity and
individuality to display themselves clearly in Hester and Dimmesdale. Hester, one of the principal
characters of the novel, must wear a scarlet letter on her chest as a symbol of her sin and a
punishment for her adultery. However, in a powerful act of defiance, Hester makes the scarlet letter
a metaphorical part of her and a part of her identity, changing its symbolism to represent her
experiences, despite society s initial intent of the letter as a punishment. Hester believes that it
lies not in the pleasure of the magistrates to take off this badge, when she discovers the officials
had discussed ridding her of it. (Page 153) In Hester s mind, the letter has become a part of her
identity. Allowing society to remove it would only prove their control over her, and even nullify
any growth and

of which the competition is quite high. Competition is broadly based on the levels of fees charged,
reputation, the range of services and products provided. As the industry consolidates and the range
of services broadens, the size and geographic spread of industry players in increasing. Providing a
high set of barriers is the capital and regulatory requirements within the banking sector. Entities that

Observation Reflection
A few weeks ago our group sat in the Starbucks located on campus for 20 minutes observing
people who sat, stood and walked around. In this time we had four different sets of eyes looking
around and taking notes. The following is a summary of our observations to answer the required
questions. A difficulty we may have encountered if we would have stayed in the same location
longer is people would have noticed. People were extremely busy, but as time went by one girl
did notice there was something odd about our table and began to stare. That would have made it
awkward and caused a distraction of what our goal if more people noticed us. Another difficulty
would be our notes would have been repetitive and it would have been hard focusing. As observers,
constantly seeing the same thing, it would just be too much for us.
During the observation period we conducted as a group, we felt that it would be very easy since
we naturally observe people in our free time. Though through time we felt very creepy and
somewhat stupid just sitting around staring at people and writing notes. Nevertheless, an overall
feeling was that it was interesting sitting. We observed our fellow classmates, Rutgers students and
faculty staff who passed by.
Overall, in the quality and accuracy of our field notes and conclusions, we would be very
confident since we had four different perspectives observing the same location, front, back and
sides of the room. All of us coming up with both similarities in our

Three Cups Of Tea By Greg Mortenson Essay
The astonishing, uplifting story of a real life Indiana Jones and his remarkable humanitarian
campaign in the Taliban s backyard is the introduction given to Greg Mortenson s readers before
even opening his book, Three Cups of Tea. This phrase slapped on the back cover of the millions
of books sold in America prepares readers to not only buy into Greg Mortenson s heroic story but
even support his cause. One song we hear too often is the one in which Africa serves as a
backdrop for white fantasies of conquest and heroism (Cole). The problem with Mr. Mortenson s
song is that it provides a single view of the religion of Islam. At first glance of Mortenson s book,

Mortenson also shows the underdevelopment of the Muslims through the women of Pakistan.
The women in the book are depicted as helpless and shameful. For example, when Greg was
captured by the violent Taliban he pleaded for release from the savage men by lying about his
wife giving birth to a son soon (Mortenson, 170). Mortenson essentializes the Muslim men as
underdeveloped and violent by portraying that they value males over females, believing they
would only let him go because he was having a son. The worst part about this example from
Mortenson was that it was a myth, according to John Krakauer s critique Three Cups of Deceit.
Greg staged the Another instance of Mortenson s essentialism was when Mortenson nursed
Rhokia back to health. The women and baby were shown as weak and no one but Greg, of
course, was able to help them. Mortenson shows the primitive nature of the people by describing
their helplessness. Mortenson said, For a Balti to let a foreign man, an infidel, have that kind of
intimate contact with your wife took an incredible leap of faith (Mortenson, 179). He once again
mentions the underdevelopment and male dominance by asking Rhokia s husband if it was okay to
remove her placenta, instead of directly asking her. Mortenson essentializes the women of Pakistan
and portrays them as if they are inferior to men according to

My Soccer Experience
The first soccer match I can recall watching was on a black, chunky TV screen back in my
motherland, Laos. My astonishment was real. I watched in awe as the players dribbled the ball,
sprinted through the green field, and nutmegged their opponent to attempt to find the back of
the net. I was fascinated by the pace of the game and the excitement from the stadium when a
goal was scored. Since then, I would plead with my parent to take me to my cousin s home in the
capital city every Sunday to watch a match. My adoration for the game declined after
immigrating to the United States, but I fell in love again during high school. What sprouted my
interest in this sport? I have not gotten a clue. It wasn t like my brother, cousin, or uncle played
it. My family had no connection to the sport at all. This memory is particular to an incredibly
meaningful event that happened recently in the summer of 2017. I attended an El Clasico
match between world renowned Spanish clubs Real Madrid and FC Barcelona. I am a supporter
of the most royal soccer club in the world, Real Madrid. You don t just declare that you are a fan
of a team the very next day or because they won a certain match. It takes understanding, time,
knowledge, and passion for the game. This feeling is hard to put into words like certain things in
life that make you happy, but you don t know exactly why. It could be that I have grown to cherish
this team because they played in the first game I had ever seen. Real Madrid

The Fate Of Peking Opera Essay
What is art and what is politics? Art is a range of human activities that express their emotions and
culture though a visual way such as painting and performing. Politics refer to some decisions
made by government in order to achieve governance. (Wikipedia) For Farewell My Concubine,
Peking Opera is the most obvious representative of art. The fate of Peking Operareflects the
relationships between art and politics. In the background of great social transformation historical,
Peking Opera turn from the period of great prosperity to decline.
Peking Opera kept relatively stable with politics and historical influences to the premodern age.
Since modern times, Peking Opera was slaved to politics and historical influences gradually,
especially in 1950s. In Farewell My Concubine, Peking Opera, as the key written subject,
throughout the film, is integrated with social, political, and historical backgrounds during the
special period. On the one hand, Chen shows development of Peking Opera through the film in this
period. On the other hand, the film reflects connections between art and politics.
There is a mirror image of history in the beginning of the film: Xiaolou and Dieyi return after being
pressured under the Cultural Revolution. The theatre used to be alive turns empty, leaving several
old workers and echo around the theatre. (Chen) Subtitles gives historical background and political

Margaret AtwoodВЎВ¦s ВЎВ§Rape FantasiesВЎВЁ, a monologue of a woman discus her concern

are victimized by the society. Furthermore, Atwood talks about the importance of having

In the story, there is an exploration of female vulnerability, and victimization in the rape fantasies.

between both sexes. Although the society is changing, female are still burdened by the social

ВЎВ§noВЎВЁ, but most of the female fail to do that. Likewise, the issue of power is also
concerned in ВЎВ§Where are you going? Where have you been?ВЎВЁ. In the final scene of it,

psychological manipulation to threat Connie who fails to find any ways to resist that she

her story to demonstrate that there is an equal share of power between men and women if both

understand one another. Thus, crime and pain can be avoided due to the mutual sympathy.
Women can never fight their humiliating figure under the domination of men with their physical

Violent Video Games Effects On Society
Video games have been around for half a century, when the first simple tennis game was designed
by William Higinbotham in 1958. Since then, video games have gotten more in depth, and now
include the best graphics and a vast amount of options which include violent video games. Violent
video games have gotten more popular with the vast amount of variety including the franchise of
Call of Duty, Battlefield, and Grand Theft Auto. In addition, these are the most common and
sought after video games, and because of the violence in those games, debate has started whether
or not violent video games cause people especially adolescents to be more violent and destructive
in society. Since the debate has started, research has been conducted and the introduction of violent
video games into society has not resulted in violence to increase in adolescents and children. Over
the years violent video gamesales have skyrocketed and there is no correlation with juvenile crime
rates that suggests that those games resulted with more violence in society. Furthermore, in a
recent article from ProCon the National Center for Education Statistics and Nicholas Lovell stated
The number of high school students who had been in at least one physical fight decreased from
43% in 1991 to 25% in 2013, and student reports of criminal victimization at school dropped by
more than half from 1995 to 2011 (1). This demonstrates that violent video games do not result in
violence, but actually resulted in violence

  • 2. King Island Lesson King s Island Taught Me a Lesson Kisaiah Wickers When your body tells you no, listen! It was two years ago at Kings Island and I was with my friends. We were walking to the biggest ride in Kings Island, the Banshee, which also goes upside down. When we got in line, a sign noted that it was a two hour wait from this point. So, only two of us wanted to wait, because this was the Banshee. While waiting in line, it was very hot and I started to get one of my migraines. Just then we were next in line, so we took our seats. Although four seats were together, we each had our own section that we were buckled in. By now, my head was really pounding, but it was too late to get off the roller coaster. After being ... • 3. The Application Of A Model, Paradigm And Needs Assessment... The Application of A Model, Paradigm and Needs Assessment Results on Program Modifications In an effort to ensure the program has a positive impact on the students mental health, the model, paradigm and needs assessment results must drive any program modifications and services. According to Erford (2014), a perception based needs assessment allows counselors to address the needs of individuals in a community. A college community needs assessment, using secondary data sources, is an example of how assessment results can assist with the initial design of the program, while also serving as data indicators for program modification. For example, if the desired outcome is to increase Black/African Americanstudentusage of healthand wellness center services, the intake and sign in sheets can serve as a secondary source of student usage. Another example is using a pre post wellness inventory to assess if students have an increase in their knowledge and usage of demonstrated and discussed wellness strategies. Also, retention rates and graduation rates can also serve as indicators of program impact. Additionally, Tyler s psychosocial competence model and the Afrocentric paradigm can also impact program modifications. The example of the wellness inventory that assesses wellness strategy usage will indicate whether or not Tyler s psychosocial competence model is an acceptable framework for the program. If so, then the model can impact how particular wellness strategies are being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Rise Of The Chinese Economy Throughout the world, there are many nations and regions that have undergone immense changes to reach their modern positions in the international economy. One such location is China, which experienced a major shift from a society revolved around independent sustenance in the agricultural industry into a society revolved around socialism, direct funding for the Chinese government through the Chinese people, and the mass production of goods with high demand in the global market by co operatives. Of course, the changes in the workings of the Chinese economy developed from the changes in the politics of China. On the 1st of October 1949, The People s Republic of China was founded in Beijing. The founding of the party both marked the end of what is today considered by historians the most profound revolutionary upheaval in modern history, in which the Guomindang Party rose to power in China, issued many different currencies, and was unable to control inflation, food shortages, and exponentially occurring price fixations; as well as the beginning of the tides of socialism in China in the 20th century, which caused the contemporary Chinese economic transformation. The Chinese economic transition from a centrally planned economy and agrarian society to a market economy and unified, socialist society was ultimately caused by the three Five Year Plans adopted by the growing Chinese Communist Party, which were stable and beneficial outlines for the Chinese regime because they developed ... When you put your ideas on paper, your instructors want to distinguish between the building block ideas borrowed from other people and your own newly reasoned perspectives or conclusions. You make these distinctions in a written paper by citing the sources for your building block ideas. Providing appropriate citations will also help readers who are interested in your topic find additional, related material to read in this way, they will be able to build on the work you have done to find sources. Think of it this way: in the vast majority of assignments you ll get in college, your instructors will ask you to read something (think of this material as the building blocks) and then write a paper in which you analyze one or more aspects of what you have read (think of this as the new structure you build). Essentially, your instructors are asking you to do three things: * Show that you have a clear understanding of the material you ve read. * Refer to your sources to support the ideas you have developed. * Distinguish your analysis of what you ve read from the authors analyses. When you cite a source, you are using an expert s ideas as proof or evidence of a new idea that you are trying to communicate to the reader. What about common knowledge ? In every professional field, experts consider some ideas common knowledge, but remember that you re not a professional (yet). In fact, you re just learning about those ... • 6. Symbolism In Apocalypse Now The movie Apocalypse Now by Francis Ford Coppola is an adaption of the book Heart of Darkness by Joseph Conrad. A Green Beret or Special Forces Captain in the Army is tasked with hunting down and killing an ex Special Forces Colonel, Colonel Kurtz who is played by Marlon Brando, that turned rogue. The movie is set during the Middle of the Vietnam War. Captain Willard, played by Martin Sheen, is depicted as slightly insane and wavering between the lines of morality. In the beginning shot the song This is the End by The Doors is the score played while images of massive explosions are shown. At first, we see beautiful scenery of palm trees that are then destroyed by what appears to be napalm. This seemingly random shot depicts one of the main themes of the whole movie; the savage madness of war and the detrimental effect it has on the human psyche. We also see this when Willard is lying on his bed and his face is super imposed over a fan which closely resemble helicopter blades.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This quote proves that John Wilson is, in fact, not homeless: The sender was John Wilson, with a return address in Virginia (Potok 60). The reader can assume from this quote that John Wilson does occupy a home due to the fact that there was a return address labeled on the envelope. In the story, Zebra also realizes that John Wilson is not a hobo because he notices the return address in Virginia on the large brown envelope. • 10. Summary Of The Giver By Lois Lowry Lois Lowry explores many themes in The Giver including life isn t fun without choices, taking risks are necessary, true sameness can never be achieved. In Jonas s society, everyone lives by the same rules to avoid sadness and conflict. What if they were allowed to choose their own mate? and choose wrong? (Lowry 98). This community is terrified of making the wrong choice for a spouse, so the committee of elders chooses for them. It s hard to imagine a world where something as difficult is choosing a spouse is made so easy. But it doesn t stop there. People in this society don t even get to choose what they wear. For example, Females under nine are to wear ribbons in their hair at all times, (Lowry 28). Life is very dull without being able to make decisions. If people in this community could make their own choices for jobs, clothes, etc, everything would be more fun. Of course there would be conflict, but at least everyone can think independently. ... This was a big turning point because Jonas was the first one to actually show curiosity instead of taking what s given to him without question. Another huge risk Jonas took was deciding to leave the community. If he had stayed...he would have lived a life hungry for feelings, for color, for love (Lowry 218) Jonas wanted to see beyond his community. • 11. The Effect Of Interval Training On Muscle Fatigue Introduction Interval training is charactered by intensity, work duration and rest periods. It involves a short or long durations of high intensity exercise repeated with a specific amount of recovery. The training type improves athlete s performance along with their cardiorespiratory fitness, VO2 max and improves exercise adaptations (Billat, 2001). Exercise intensities elevate ATP utilisation and restrict metabolic processes, increasing the level of blood lactate. The restriction of metabolic processes causes an increase in muscle fatigue. Therefore restoration of metabolic concentrations during recovery periods from intense exercise is important for optimal exercise performance (Edge, Eynon, McKenna, Goodman Bishop, 2013). Alternating work and recovery periods during intense exercise also allow depleted ATP and PC stores to be replenished, along with oxygen myoglobin stores. Long interval protocols allow alactic energy systems to reuse energy via the glycolytic energy system, reducing the need to utilise energy. However, as this energy system is involved blood lactate and lactic acid are increased resulting in higher levels of muscle fatigue (Seiler, Joranson, Olesen Heltelid, 2013). In addition, for optimal training stimulus high intensities for prolonged periods of time, and or long intervals cannot be sustained without implementing recovery periods (RГёnnestad, Hansen, Vegge, TГёnnessen SlettalГёkken, 2015). Short interval protocols allow the athlete to achieve ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. The Black Walnut Tree Figurative Language In The Roots There is a conflict between practicality and sentimentality conveyed through the use of both literal and figurative language by poet Mary Oliver in The Black Walnut Tree. There is an alternation from a debate between mother and daughter rationalizing reasons of selling the black walnut tree that sits in the family s backyard in order to pay off their mortgage, to the symbolic viewing and characterization of the tree as a reflection of the family s history and what value it holds to further generations. Despite the whip crack of the mortgage experienced every month, cutting down the black walnut tree would be a heinous deception on the family s heritage. The literal language used in the beginning of the free verse does not imply the tree having any symbolic meaning to the speaker and her mother. It is casually said My mother and I debate, we could sell the black walnut tree...[to] pay off the mortgage which defines that in these lines the tree has not yet been introduced with its symbolic purpose. As alluded to in Zaabalawi, Mahfouz asserts the fact that not all Muslims attain religious fulfillment through this common tradition, and other methods outside the scope of Islam may be necessary in true spiritual understanding. It reads, phonetically: Iqra/ warabbuka al akramu, Allathee AAallama bialqalami. Or in English: Recite in the name of the Lord, who has taught by the pen. This is a passage from the 96th Surah, Al A laq in the Qur an. Such references to writings and penmanship highlight the importance of calligraphic beauty in such a society. Muslims believe that it is important to read the Qur an in Arabic. Their religion teaches that God intentionally presented the holy book to Arabs because their language holds a secret beauty and truth not found in others. Thus, if one is to complete the task of reading the Qur an, it must be done in Arabic or with a corresponding Arabic text. From the latest evidence, it is believed that the Pompeian Forum was undergoing a comprehensive, vigorous and ambitious post earthquake restoration. (Bradley. 2005, p.87). The Forum at Herculaneum, however, is still buried under the town of Resina and therefore there is not enough physical evidence to provide a great depth of information. However in the last decade, as noted in Pamela Bradley s book, it had been repaired and in working order when the eruption occurred. The Sanctuary of the Public Lares was located in the North East of the Forum in Pompeii. The Lares Publici were the protectors of the crossroads (compita). Historians argue whether the building was either commenced after the earthquake of 62 AD or almost fully reconstructed as a dedication to the tutelary gods of Pompeii due to the recent misfortune. The architecture was quite unusual showing changing designs. The temple had no roof and had a floor with coloured marble arranged in a geometric pattern. It had no wall on the Forum side that left it entirely open. It could be entered through a portico adjoining the colonnade of the Forum. On entering the temple there was two alcoves where statues of the Lares would most likely have stood. Remains show a centred altar. However, his thoughts behind the categorical imperative that is, that all moral concepts and thus the categorical imperative comes a priori in reason (Kant 22) are flawed in the belief of reason existing at all. That is to say that Kant s attempted proof to show that morals come a priori in reason is flawed in the assumption that humans can reason at all. An Analysis Of Hitler s Operation Barbarossa The wartime relationship between the Soviet Union and the United States, tenuously compromised and founded upon the necessity of the immediate pragmatism instigated by Hitler s Operation Barbarossa, was doomed to inevitably disintegrate once both parties ceased to confront a common belligerent. There are two significant factors within the breakdown of United StatesSoviet relations following World War II. First is the ideological incongruence within the communist capitalist dichotomy. Andrew Carnegie, an industrialist, believed the rich should distributed their wealth to benefit society while they re alive. Carnegie elaborates this idea in his article, The Gospel of Wealth, written in 1889. Russell Conwell, a philanthropist, expresses in his speech, Acres of Diamonds, men should utilize their surrounding opportunities to make themselves wealthy. Two Negative Aspects Of The Disease Model Of Addiction The four models of addiction that I have chosen to discuss are the Disease Model of addiction, the Twin Normative Failure Model, the Defect of Agency Model, and the Habit and Deep Learning Model. The disease model of addiction taken broadly characterizes addiction as severe, chronic stage of substance use disorder, in which there is a substantial loss of self control, as indicated by compulsive drug taking despite the desire to stop taking the drug (Frank Nagel, 2017). While reading Addiction and Moralization: The Role of the Underlying Model of Addiction the two negative aspects of the disease model that I found was that first the disease model states that addiction is a disease meaning the addicted person has no control over their actions but according to the text People who suffer from an addiction often refrain from engaging in addictive behavior for periods; and further, their addiction often requires an elaborate series of actions, which cannot all be compelled (Frank Nagel, 2017). The second negative aspect that I found for the disease model is that by referring to addiction as a disease it in turn causes people to feel stigmatized which prevents them from feeling like they have self control and damages their self esteem. The two positive aspects of the disease model that I found which for the most part contradicts the negative aspects, is that the disease model is in fact a disease based on the fact that addiction changes the way the brain functions much like ...
