By following the SEE-ING method, you can ensure a comprehensive analysis that considers both the visual aspects and the
deeper meaning of the cartoon.
S - Observe and Describe the Scene
● Start by closely examining the visual elements of the cartoon.
● How many panels are there?
● What is the layout?
● Are there speech bubbles or captions?
● Describe the characters, setting, and any background details.

8. E - Examine the Elements
● Look for specific artistic choices used by the cartoonist.
● Is there exaggeration, symbolism, metaphor, irony, or labelling?
● Why do you think the cartoonist used these techniques?
10. E - Explore the Emotional Impact
● How does the cartoon make you feel?
● Is it humorous, satirical, critical, or something else?
● Consider the use of colour and facial expressions.

Exclude music and movement.
● Only comment on the contents of a single frame
at a time.
● This is not quite cartoon analysis, but the lines
are blurred intentionally in this film by mixing
comic book style with cartoon movie style.
