HappyNewTown The New Town Development enhances the quality of life by improving the living environment from housing to education for the relatively underdeveloped districts in Seoul Solution to the housing problems By building New Towns with pleasant environment, disparities in residential environment among the districts can be mitigated. Job creation and economic stimulus effect If the developments of New Towns (residential) and Balanced Development Promotion Areas (commercial) in 35 locations are completed by 2020, it is expected to create more than 600 thousand jobs and more than KRW 50 trillion ($50 billion) production inducement effect. Why is the New Town Project necessary? Balancing the disparity between districts With the New Town Development, the quality of life will be improved by establishing high-class residential environment through locating well-distinguished schools, restoring streams, creating walkways and bike paths, adopting ubiquitous systems, and etc., which will narrow the disparities between local areas of Seoul. On the other hand, the New Town Project aims to improve the residential environment to the root by securing sufficient urban infrastructure through comprehensive development for the broader community. Moreover, its proximity to the Cheonggye Stream called a special attention for immediate actions.
