Wetting, [Adhesion],
Wetting, is the ability of a liquid to maintain contact with
a solid surface, resulting from intermolecular interactions
when the two are brought together, [molecular magnetic
attraction], [ie, soil moisture holding]. “Wick”
“Capillary” “Sponge” effects. This property explains the
ability of moisture to remain close to the topsoil surface
zone, against the forces of gravity.
Cohesion, [Meniscus],
Refers to the tendency of similar or identical
particles/surfaces to cling to one another. This is what
makes a water droplet, and allows water to resist
penetrating or wetting soils that are “Hydro Phobic” or
“Non Wetting”.
