Today’
Today’s meeting at Tick Tock
In attendance at the meeting were Scott, Vi, Viki, Jim and Jane Ridings,
Jean and Rick Rutan, Lee and Judy Warnock, Sue Foster, Laura and
CJ Morris.
The club has received a thank you card from Chuck Hayworth for the
kind planter we sent him.
Next meeting 6/21 at Tick Tock. Please be there and bring a friend
and/or a potential new member!
While our efforts to secure a golfer for the Junior
Golf tournament, the club decided to make their
donation of $250.00 to the tourney. A check will be
sent to the Sarasota Club, which is in charge of
putting on the event.
Lee reported that we've received
our first check of the season for
working at Tropicana at the Papa
John's pizza stand with the St. Pete
club. The check was $300.00.
2. While not an official Optimist function, Rick Rutan's 85th
Birthday party was held June 4th. Nearly 70 people were in
attendance. All had a great time. Rick asked that no gifts
be given, instead, everyone was asked to bring a donation
of paper products to be given to the Ronald McDonald
House.
3. Bunco Report
Vi gave us a report on the Bunco Party held May 21st at
Rick and Jean Rutan's house. The club's profit $290
was very nice and since this wasn't a budgeted
fundraiser, it's extra money for the club to use for youth
activities. Viki was the big winner of the evening, taking
home the 1st place prize of a $70 gift certificate to
Jennifer Maldonado's massage. The last place prize
went to Scott Kaplan, which proves you can't always be
lucky.

4. The Bowling Party for the Salvation Army kids
was held at Seminole Lanes. Our JOOI club was also in
attendance. In all 40 people attended and/or bowed.
The kids bowled 2 games and received pizza and a
drink. All expenses were picked up by the club. Lee
was in charge of organizing this event. Scott was there
taking photos and together, they will be writing up a CPA
book for our club for this year's competition.
5. Raffle Tickets
The big news from the meeting was the
drawing of the raffle tickets. We sold
$886.00 in tickets this year, much more
than last year! The big ticket seller was, of
course, Jim Ridings, selling $315.00 of that
amount. For his efforts, he won a $50 gas
card! The winners were:
Alden Hotel stay: Sue Foster
Publix Gift Card: Quill Turk
Outback Steakhouse: Linda Dawley
Derby Lane Supper Club: Jane Ridings
Thanks to everyone for their efforts in this
great fundraiser!

50/50
In keeping with the luck, Jane Ridings won the
50/50 drawing but couldn't find the Joker. She got
the 5 of Hearts. The pot now stands at $270 to the
winner. Next time will be higher!
Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.

6. The Optimist Creed
Promise Yourself -
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear, and too happy to permit the
presence of trouble.
